@6:38....pulled a 90-mile bouncer towards straightish mid-wicket...nobody can play this shot apart from viv and Punter! Tendulkar would have just ducked underneath..
As a Kiwi we tend to remember Bond as terrorizing the Aussie batsmen, one of the very few bowlers in recent times to do so. This video is a nice reminder of what a great batsman Ponting is, a fact that's sometimes lost in amongst all the Tendulkar/Sewag/Lara hype. Anyways, I'm off to watch your video of Bond getting 5 wickets against Aussie, watching him get hit around is no fun at all!
I'm indian and I must say that Ponting is a better batsman than tendulkar. He just attacks all the time and dominates like crazy. Sachin just plays for record and when he make century we always lose :( i feel dravid is better at making runs when it counts more than tendulkar. But ponting is in a completely different level.
Dear Pointing is good batsman but look it first Sachin Century and match result. In Tests No. of Centuries = 51 Centuries won = 23 Centuries lost = 8 Centuries Draw = 20 In One Day Cricket No, of Centuries = 48 Centuries won = 33 Centuries lost = 13 No result Games = 2 33 match Won of His 48 centuries in ODI. If you know mathematics then you understand.Only one batsman Sachin play 20 year continue play cricket soon Australia team get out rick pointing his team but sachin still.
@nottellingu0 Yep 100% right. Ponting at his best (during 2002 - 2008) he dominated the world and was better then Tendulkar. Don't get me wrong, Tendulkar is a one of the greatest of all time and has sustained consistency for 20 years but Ponting in his prime may be the best batsmen since Bradman!
@matty3011 you're an idiot mate... past 18 months, his average is 38 if you actually look up the stats... That is higher than the best batsmen of many test playing nations... I really do laugh when I read these sort of comments. The guy is "out of form" compared to his best form... It's as simple as that.
@infokill last 14 test matches 698 runs @ 27 is not good enough for the Aussie cricket team as far as I'm concerned. Plus its not just how many runs he scores but how he gets them. I'm no expert but he doesn't look nearly as free at the crease as he used to. Still I'm hoping he'll prove me wrong in the next few weeks.
@matty3011 Yep... He's also scored 12,000 test runs for his country. Like Taylor and Steve Waugh, he should be given the courtesy to retire when he feels ready... and it looks like that will be the case. He'll bounce back soon enough I'm sure. Consider also that he is still in very good ODI form, scored a century a few games back and has averaged 39 in the last 12 months.
Aravinda De Silva was a pretty decent hooker/puller aswell. He was one of the very very few subcontinent batsmen who could do it well. Its a notorious weakness for subcontinent batsmen normally
Ponting was magnificent at his best; puts the likes of Tendulkar to shame and I am not saying that in any other way than it is obvious - his grace and flair is there to see, truly sublime Ponting was.
there's absolutely nothing wrong in expecting to see bond getting ponting out. I'm not saying we shouldn't have ponting's moments here, but at the very least, the title is a bit misleading. could've just said "ponting smashing bond".
@blastitude Make your own video then with your own title. You know how many hours it took me to make this video? Bunch of fucking ungrateful bastards around here. Arguing over the damn title, what the fuck people???
@robelinda2 hehe. . . i dnt want to be another ungrateful bastard but, ya the title made me think it was going to be a little bit of both guys getting the best of each other.
having said tht keep it coming man.
cud actually feel bond's frustration as ponting cut him so often in the same spot.
@robelinda2 i am really sorry for you mate as whenever you upload anything about a batsman apart from the "little selfish one", delirious one-eyed Indians start throwing their toys out of the pram and spoil the comments section...
@141cbc Absolutely agree wid u nd im indian oooh n btw cricket's popularity is declining in india ...in d next 5 yrs india is predicted 2 be d largest consumer of football nd im guessing in d next 10yrs cricket will be extinct...we all know how cricket declined drastically in carribean in 90s and in aus in the 2000s
Some good drives by Punter at the end of the video. But Bond got him a few times, made him look like a schoolboy in that World Cup match. The funny thing was that Bond bowled one of his quicker spells in his last Test Match against Pakistan, he couldn't get over 140 km/h in the one dayers upto then. He could have been a great bowler, eclipsing Hadlee as the Kiwi's best.
@Mladenovski28 i wouldnt go that far, bond was good but you have to look at who he played as well in the few tests he did play, most of them were against weak opposition on green tops
@robelinda2 umm this is nothing racial, its just not cricket to have Shane Bond v Ricky Ponting as the title and have none of Bond's moments in this rivalry. Im saying it would good to see the rivalry for what it was rather then this one sided biased video. Just put Ricky Ponting dominating Bond next time so you dont waste my bandwidth
@benhughesmith So you'd rather your version of a one sided video? How about you make that video so I don't waste my time and bandwidth?? Seriously people.
Ponting was Shane Bonds bunny. Bond owned him almost every time he played against him. trust an aussie to show the one time ponting scored any runs off him
@rockmysock01 There was a year or so in 2002-2003 where Bond got Ponting 6 ODI's in a row. Ponting was without doubt Bond's bunny during that period.
But ignoring that, Bond got Ponting out only once more in the other 9 ODI's and 2 tests.
Ponting had a similar brain fade against Harbie in India '01 with 5 Test innings in a row. But again, ignore that patch and his record against Harbie is good.
@robelinda2 robbie, i belive if bond would have played more.. he would overcome so many great fast bowlers... it tears me up when i think about him...
@robelinda2 true and plus his on and off retirements, playin icl then wanna play for country and all that but c'mon now apart from your usual sarcasm you gotta admit he was at his best playin against australia thou! overall a really good modern fast bowler! WAS!
this is an awesome sport dude
