The Waffen-SS was NOT a political Army, it was formed mainly from young volunteers . The Wehrmacht was the National armed forces of Germany. A recruit in the Wehrmacht was not allowed to belong to the NSDAP or any other Party. The majority of german military songs are sentimental ballads. Please research history properly before making jusgements.

Is this not just a soldiers marching song? Sure the soldiers were fighting for a country with a very bad government who had a very cruel and twisted view of mankind. But the simple soldiers didn't necessarily share those same political views, we tend to fight for our country regardless of whether we agree with the present government or not. I'm afraid no country or side was entirely blameless in the prosecution of the second world war.
Great song! This isn't perhaps the best version I've heard but I still do enjoy it. I also find it a bit unnecessary to fight about nazism and such when the most important thing here is the music.

The Waffen-SS was NOT a political Army, it was formed mainly from young volunteers . The Wehrmacht was the National armed forces of Germany. A recruit in the Wehrmacht was not allowed to belong to the NSDAP or any other Party. The majority of german military songs are sentimental ballads. Is this not just a soldiers marching song? Sure the soldiers were fighting for a country with a very bad government who had a very cruel and twisted view of mankind. But the simple soldiers didn't necessarily share those same political views, we tend to fight for our country regardless of whether we agree with the present government or not. I'm afraid no country or side was entirely blameless in the prosecution of the second world war.

For instance nobody is saying that every soldier in Irak and Afghanistan voted for Bush. This is a whermacht march song is from and therefore its not "from nazis".
