Why yes, the safety is on. The safety on that particular gun is set up so that it is impossible for the hammer to fall unless the safety is completely rotated. unless the top of the disconnector is completely sheared off in which case the hammer would have fallen already.

Yes you are right, in order to utilize the long stroke piston design the gas tube has to a certain length (making the barrel longer as well). Was just trying to state that barrel length has absolutely nothing to with what kind of gun it is.

Impressive to say the least, although you do hear the ballistic crack when shooting military ball ammo. They do make subsonic 7.62 X 39 ammo, but it is over $10.00 a round.....wow! There is no such thing as a "silencer" for a firearm. They have not successfully "silenced" one yet. They are usually refrenced as "suppressors" due to the inabilty to entirely silence the weapon. Yes, even though the suppressor is used to reduce the recoil and muzzle flash, its technically the same thing because in order to achieve this you must reduce are redirect the gases from the muzzle upon break.
Dont take proper names so literally. No one ever referred to silencers as suppressors before the mid 70's by which time they had been around for 7 decades. Suppressor is a term that was made up to help sell the devices to gov't and police agencies and was popularized in SOF.. Silencers do not have to completely silence anything. The inventor named them silencers and marketed them as such . Thats good enough.

suppressors arnt exactly supposed to make the gun shot silent, they are meant to change the sound of the gun shot so it doesnt sounds like a gun shot, but also a little quieter so all of u saying that it wasnt "silent", they werent made to make it silent, just a little more quieter, ur making yourself look stupid
@RiversideBR A 74 has a much less curved magazine, and the Aks74u is the shorter version of the AK74 with a folding stock. The 74 also shoots a 5.54x45 round.

@Ramshobraja What you are hearing is the round, it is faster than the speed of sound so you are still going to get that crack. Subsonic ammo is the only way to take that away. The silencer just takes away the pop of the round leaving the barrel.
The AK is a great weapon. I have one as well as an ar15 . Both have their role. In my opinion, the modern Stoner rifle is far more useful. The main thing I can't stand about the AK is it's poor accuracy. The Ar is a surgeons tool, where the AK is a cavemans club.

That being said,if i was a soldier fighting in a confined urban setting with short sightlines and mud houses,the ak might be more effective.But instead of a whole new weapon, i would just switch uppers on my rifle to 7.62x39. We use the M-16A4 and M4A1. Never have we used the AK-47 or any of the newer designs (AKS-74, AKM, AK-74, AK-100 Series). The only example I can think of us using the AK would be modified ones for the OPFOR role in training.
Also, we have purchased more than just the AV-8B harrier (Which we made ourselves in join with UK), which we aren't even using anymore. We purchased the LAV-25, and LAV-3(Stryker) from Canada. Also, seen the F-35B?

@boxing7717 the ignition of the gunpowder is suppressed with the silencer, but you still have the subsonic sound because of the change in airpressure of the bullet exiting the barrell (sort of like when a jet flies overhead, breaking the sound barrier causing a huge boom). If he used subsonic bullets you would barely be able to hear the shot. find some videos that have the rifle silenced with subsonic bullets and youll see what i mean. range and FPS sucks with them, but deadly silent.

@stevter13 WRONG. A REAL silencer makes it almost like the sound of popping your lips. A suppressor just stops the echo, silencers are illegal but a registered factory-built suppressor are legal or, you can make them your self but they an only buffer the sound to a certain point.

@Ramshobraja What you are hearing is the round, it is faster than the speed of sound so you are still going to get that crack. Subsonic ammo is the only way to take that away. The silencer just takes away the pop of the round leaving the barrel.

The AK is a great weapon. I have one as well as an ar15 . Both have their role. In my opinion, the modern Stoner rifle is far more useful. The main thing I can't stand about the AK is it's poor accuracy. The Ar is a surgeons tool, where the AK is a cavemans club.

@michaelofnewbabylon They are both infantry weapons, standoff distance and available range,combined with lighter ammo and more options with the platform are big selling points to the AR/M16 . That being said,if i was a soldier fighting in a confined urban setting with short sightlines and mud houses,the ak might be more effective.But instead of a whole new weapon, i would just switch uppers on my rifle to 7.62x39. Im not knocking the AK ,its a great rifle,but i personally like the AR more.

We use the M-16A4 and M4A1. Never have we used the AK-47 or any of the newer designs (AKS-74, AKM, AK-74, AK-100 Series). The only example I can think of us using the AK would be modified ones for the OPFOR role in training.
Also, we have purchased more than just the AV-8B harrier (Which we made ourselves in join with UK), which we aren't even using anymore. We purchased the LAV-25, and LAV-3(Stryker) from Canada. Also, seen the F-35B?

@boxing7717 the ignition of the gunpowder is suppressed with the silencer, but you still have the subsonic sound because of the change in airpressure of the bullet exiting the barrell (sort of like when a jet flies overhead, breaking the sound barrier causing a huge boom). If he used subsonic bullets you would barely be able to hear the shot. find some videos that have the rifle silenced with subsonic bullets and youll see what i mean. range and FPS sucks with them, but deadly silent.
