This is like, the coolest movie of alltime!! I remember seeing Dennis Weaver on Earth Day 1990 as the host when I was 14. His hair was white as snow and I'm like OMG it's the Duel guy!!
the Hulk was on steroids at the time. He went undercover to expose trucker amphetimine use. Spielberg rewrote the script to make Sugarland Express 2 years later.
Or maybe The Incredible Hulk was lurking and they got scared so decided to share the scene. No seriously they didn't film the Hulk episode at the same time. They have used the movie for the Hulk episode. There are some dumb comments on here to which I have a one word response: INTENSITY!
barkleys i saw that Hulk episde twice. It looked like the same truck. Maybe they filmed the Hulk episodes at the same time because they had the actors on site or something.
OMG that is so weird, me and my wife watch The Incredible Hulk every night of the week! You know the original from the 80's!? Well anyways we just got done watching it and they took scenes from this movie and put in a Hulk episode!! WOW that was awesome
Unfortunately there was a very real "stupid trucker" that tried something similar to the writer of the short story Matheson (he is a well respected writer btw), which gave him the influence for the story.
You want dumb and stupid movie? Watch Transformers. That's dumb.
Because he is a lowlife troll intentionally posting stupid crap to annoy people. He also is such a coward he can only do that shit on the net. Maybe one shouldn't feed those lowlives.
he managed to shoot it in few days and on budget, and after that studios trusted him with bigger projects like Sugarland Express and later Jaws... the rest is history
yeah, considering he directed duel aged 24 with a limited budget and time, I'd say this was his ticket to Sugarland Express, which became his ticket to Jaws...
the main truck was a '55 Pete 281 the '60 Pete is the surviving truck, the '64 was the truck used in the exteneded scene's which was Scrapped back in '73 as well as the original rig! there was a fourth truck if you count a fourth truck that was a '62 Pete 351 from the Incriedable Hulk Episode, that's currently in a ware house in poor condition at Universal Studio's
its funny to see how they used two different cars in this movie. What gives that away is the insdie rear view mirror. One is the older style dodge and the otehr is the newer version. Love this movie
Dennis Waterman, a keen environmentalist and Democrat, would have been keen to get rid of this polluting rig for reasons other than it trying to kill him.
@Glenn1967ful Diesel burns cleaner than gasoline and this is fiction so get your shit straight. Democrats aren't the only ones who care about the enviorment.
think that's the stuntman's head showing on ridge behind tanker after he jumped. Driver's door is open. In the road warrior, you can see stunt driver hitting cab floor as the truck rolls over. Neat stuff but always a sad ending for old iron.
That was the whole point Steven Spielberg wanted to make. It should look greasy, rusty and old, as if the thing had been driving on the roads for centuries and looks like it drove through hell once and came out posessed.
A shiny, new truck as a villain? Geez. I hope you are kidding.
Keep on Trucking!

This movie on DVD has to be run in original mono mode. If you run it in stereo it has different sounds than in the original, and isnt as good.

Dumbest movie ever made by the dumbest director who ever lived. Where are the Ovens and the Holocaust?

@fattony252 One question. If you thought this movie was one of the dumbest ever made, why did you watch this video?

Actually, they used three different trucks in this movie. A 1956 Pete 281, 1960 Pete 281, and a 1964 Pete 351.
