  • Who were the wrestlers under these masks? Anyone know?

  • @Stolehome66 Jody Hamilton and Randy Colley.

  • Nuke the south!

  • @frrrrrunkis suck a dick!

  • Assassin #1 always cut a good promo. How many Assassins #2's were there?

  • @Mrslammie I've counted three. Randy 'Moondog Rex' Colley, Roger 'Dirty Rhodes' Smith, and the 'Original', Tom Renesto.

  • I met him at an Indy show a few months back , real cool guy .

  • LiberalFaggot, shut the hell up. People are getting fed up with faggots like you and your anti-White commie garbage. The south was not fought over slavery. Idiots like you know nothing about anything except from what you hear or read from the mainstream media and that includes that fat tub of lard Rush too.

  • Iko

  • The assassin #1 always gave intelligent well spoken promos.

  • Man that ending brings back some great memories of my youth.

  • This is Wrestling at it's best, and this is a great tag team to be a part of it!

  • I would have to say that GCW and JCP tie as the 2 greatest promotions of all time. Oh, and WCCW too!

  • No it's not about "states rights".

The sole reason for the Confederacy was thtat hey wanted to keep slavery while the US government wanted to outlaw it.

Don't try and make it like they were being told when they could water their lawn or anything like that.

They wanted the right to keep slaves, it's as simple as that and given that 99.9% of slaves were black and were treated as livestock not as humans then YES it IS racist!

  • @Bisonzilla Wow, you need to really re-read some history, pal. You are completely wrong! I think you stopped learning American history after 2nd grade.

  • @Bisonzilla thumbs down

  • @Bisonzilla I agree 100%. Many bigots and racist are ashamed of their actions and attempt to "re-write" history. American will never forget nor will we ever allow or values, goals and humanity be pulled down by a bunch of southern bigots again.

  • I think that was Chris Jericho and Wade Barrett

  • Who knew the Assassins were Shakespearian (sic) trained?

  • Whats wrong with racists? black people don't like white people....whites don't like blacks......mexicans don't like whites or blacks....get the picture? who the fuck cares. Why are we so obligated to love everybody?

  • @allstarjeff1 In an odd way, I agree. People should be free to feel whatever they want about anything or anybody they want without worrying about what other people have to say

  • WHEN WORKERS COULD BUT PROMOS!!! WOW!

  • I never liked the crappy yellow and black masks though.Nice shot of the Masked Superstar giving a upper cut at 0.56 though.

  • @Warchief01 Is that Masked Superstar or The Spoiler?

  • @chrisz31974 I'm pretty sure it's masked superstar. The picture isn't real clear but stopping and viewing it looks like you can see the stars on the legs of his tights and around the top of his mask although real faintly. The black mask with red stars was one of his better looking masks.

  • @Warchief01 You know what, I didn't even notice the trademark star, I stand corrected. It's unbelievable how many old-school wrestling fans I've found on youtube that I don't mind being wrong, I'm just so happy to see other people enjoy this stuff!

  • @chrisz31974 In the late 70's and early 80's i always looked forward to Saturday at 1:00pm.Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling.Couldn't beat it.

  • @Warchief01 Old-school, hell yeah!

  • @chrisz31974 The people in the ring today are good acrobats but wrestlers they're not.

  • @Warchief01 There's still some good guys out there. I think the missing ingredient, among many, is the sense on spontaneity. Everything is so scripted and so forced. I'd rather watch someone do an awful promo but at least come across like he means what he says rather than have someone recite something with no emotion whatsoever

  • @chrisz31974 True.

  • @Warchief01 That was the Super Destroyer (Scott Irwin), Bill's tag team partner at one time.

  • The Assassins - the Confederate Tag Team Champions, LoL!

  • @denzelsnipes69 That's a good idea.Confederate tag team champions.

  • I would love to see the classic Assassin - Mr Wrestling #2 promo...

  • Nice promos.The Masked Superstar,Andrea,Ivan Koloff,Stan Hanson,Mr.Wrestling 2,Austin Idol.Ahhh the good ol days.

  • I agree! Unlike promos today! In my opinion, the promos, today, are more like "stand-up."

  • Comment removed

  • "If we are to be dethroned, then let competitors come forth and defeat us in the ring." I love this promo.

  • This could've been Edge & Jericho

  • @CraigJericho yeah right if Edge was actually a man

  • The original Assassins were Tom Renesto #1 and Jody Hamilton #2.

  • well i bet you the majority of people who raise that rebel flag are racist.

  • it still doesnt mean the flag stands for racism.

  • @thefriendsociety They are not as racist as the biggest racist in the USA, namely Obama.

  • you tell'em brother man!

  • @raiderldp

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THAT CLEAR. I own a rebel flag, and Ive had to fend off these accusations for years.

  • @raiderldp The rebel flag has taken on a different meaning over the years. Today it is definitely used as racist symble. Only a liar would deny that.

When the Assassins held the title the flag did not have the same connotation that it has today. No promotion would be dumb enough to put a confederate flag on their title these days.

  • @nkevinb no, it is not a racist symb ol today. It is more a symbol of state and individual rights against an over-reaching federal government.

  • Jody Hamilton was a great promo cutter. Methodical and to the point. No wonder Randy Orton took his experience from watching tapes of Hamilton when he ran DSW.

  • @thefriendsociety You are the one showing your own ignorance. the flag isn't racist. Maybe a lot of the people who wave it are, but the flag itself stands for independence and state's right's over the federal government.

  • @mamacornettesmoney if it a state stands for its people and its people are majorally racist then isnt it standing for racism?

  • @thefriendsociety No. Not at all. That is TERRIBLE logic. That is a pretty prejudiced view point you have. Just because there are racist people in a state doesn't make the state itself racist. And just because SOME people who fly a particular falg are racist, it doesn't make the flag itself racist. that is twisted. And you climed it was a "KKK flag" anyway which is a very ignorant statement. Again, getting an education in US History would be a good thing.

  • @mamacornettesmoney im tellin u even the animals get racist when they see that flag.

  • @thefriendsociety How many people do you knw in Georgia?

  • Gordon Solie -- by far the best announcer ever

  • That was Jody Hamilton.

  • Damn, those are some great polo shirts! I miss the days when a guy could be in polo shirts, and have a hood on at the same time, lol.

  • 4 the Assassins to be heels they were definitely getting cheers from the audience

  • what the fucks a "kkk flag"?? i see some confederate flags..... thats it.

  • if you think you know your "KKK" Flags, what flag is this?

  • where was the KKK flag?

  • It Was The Georgia State Flags On The Belt.

  • @thefriendsociety That's not KKK dumbass. that's the Georgia state flag. Confederacy doesn NOT = KKK. You need some history lessons.

  • It always looks like Jodys head was going to explode out of that mask ! But still a great talent.

  • Assassin 1 wrestled in alabama as the flame right?

  • Do you have where the Junkyard Dog does

a interview showing how he got blinded by

Michael Hayes for the first time? That is one of the most memorable promos ever! JYD calls Michael Hayes," Mrs. Hayes or Michelle Hayes." Do you also have the feud between Tony Atlas and Ricky Steamboat, which I do not know of.

  • According to the book Tag Teams, Tom Renesto and Jody Hamilton were The Assassins. Tom died in 2000 at age 72. Jody was involved with the Power Plant which trained wrestlers for WCW.

  • Who was Assassin 2?

  • tom renesto and hercules hernandez

  • hercules hernandez???? sorry the assaisns were jody hamilton and tom renesto hernandez wasen't even in the business at this time

  • I think Hernandez replaced Renesto somewhere in 82-83. I know when Valiant unmasked #2 it was Hernandez.

  • @prowrestler01 This sn't Hercules. He came later. This might be randy Smith or possibly Randy Culley. Not sure. I would guess Smith but could be wrong.

  • @mamacornettesmoney Roger Smith that is.

  • Who was the 2nd assasin? Definitely not hercules ray hernandez.

  • MetalGodInTraining told me that's Randy Colley most recognized as Moondog Rex.

  • I believe #2 was Roger Smith aka Dirty Rhodes,ATeam #1,Fire,Intern #1 from the Memphis territory. He also was Assassin 1 in Memphis with partners Randy "Moondog Rex" Colley and "The Singing Cowboy" Don Bass.Bass was also Flame and ATeam and Intern 2 with Smith in Memphis.Smith broke in with Buddy Landel.

  • the origanal assassin 2 was tom renesto

  • @prowrestler01 Actually, Renesto was #1 and Hamilton was #2. When Renesto quit, Hamilton became #1 and got other partners.

  • Oh I remember when Gilbert hit Lawler with a car and I actually thought Gilbert took it too far. Mainly because nothing of the like had ever been seen before. And looking back on it because of the way you described it, that gave it the SHOCK VALUE. CWA Memphis pulled a lot of of that.

  • I would like if someone has any footage of Jody Hamilton's brother The Missouri Mauler, the late Larry Hamilton. He was also a great one in his day.

  • He was big time under-rated on mic. People talk about how great Flair & Rock were, but if you see 1 promo by them, you've seen them all. 99% catch phrases. Jody hamilton never yelled or acted like an idiot. He'd calmly tell you what he was going to do and in the process scare the hell out of you through the tv screen. He, Ole Anderson & Jake Roberts were always my favorite promo guys.

  • You also right about The Assassin,Jake Roberts, and Ole Anderson looking back on it. Great dialogue on the mike. Rock Hunter,Gary Hart,NONE of them EVER used catch phrases, fake voices and accents and seemed to be fully improvisational with no SILLY storylines to go by. Vince McMahon blown up in limo,JBL running a car into John Cena,COME ON PEOPLE!!

  • I think the car angle with JBL & Cena would have worked if they had done it properly. What ruined it was it looked like a damn movie. several camera angles, closeups etc. Eddie Gilbert & Jerry Lawler did 1 in the 80's that was great. looked like news footage. its on youtube titled "Jerry Lawler hit by car"

  • You are 100 percent correct about Hamilton. I lived in Florida back in the 70s and got to see him on "Championship Wrestiling From Florida" a whole lot of times. He really knew how to work the stick.

  • Which one? Jody or Larry because I remember both on that program at one time.

  • I was writing about Jody but Larry was there many times also. He was not only as good at promos, but had an equally good gimmick. Larry looked like and really went over as a double tough, no nonsense bone breaker. If someone has him on tape somewhere i also would really love to see it. He was one of a kind.

  • Not many good promo guys any more. I think Edge has potential if they would turn him loose and let him say what he wants. the 1 he did last week about hell in the cell was brilliant

  • Where is the video of the assassins getting their butts beats by Fidel Castillo and his partner in the '70s?

  • does anyone have the footage of the actual turn...i've been lookin for that for years...

  • I thought Roger Smith eventually became the second Assasin. Hercules Hernandez was an Assasin in JCP in 1983-84.

  • Assasin 1 & 2...classic!

  • Hamilton was one of the very best on the stick.

  • Is that Renesto in the background?

  • ya renesto in background

  • ya renesto in background

  • No that is NOT Tom Renesto, Renesto retired from active competiton in the early 70s.Who that is with Jody Hamilton I don't know.

  • my bad.

  • I think she confused him with Tom Renesto Jr. I'm not sure if it was before or after Hamilton was in Georgia, but in 79 or 80 there was an angle in Mid South where in matches a 2nd Assassin would appear and they would do a switch. The fake Assassin was unmasked as Renesto Jr. He never actually wrestled as an Assassin. He was just used for the switches

The guy in this video with Hamilton is Randy Colley who was later Moondog Rex in WWF and The Nightmare in Mid South

  • Randy Colley certainly wrestled under his fair share of personnas didn't he? Moondog Rex,The Nightmare in Mid-South,Detroit Demolition in Alabama-based Continental Wrestling,The Gladiator in WCW for a short while, and one of the Shadows tag team in the WWF. But I NEVER knew who the other Assassin was with Hamilton in this team. Thanx.

  • when he was in mid south he lived in the same apartment complex as i did. he and oliver humperdink used to drink beer with my dad. when you mentioned detroit semolition, it reminded me that he was the original demolition smash in wwf but they replaced him after just a few matches because people recognized him as moondog rex

  • Oh I left one other of Colley's personnas out,Desperado Deadeye Dick with Dutch Mantell and Black Bart in WCW. The team never got off the ground. And I do remember now when he was part of Demolition briefly.

  • Is that Hamilton or Renesto on the mic?

  • Hamilton. This was one of the greatest angles ever, Ole turning on Dusty in the cage.

  • Jody Hamilton was awesome.

  • cosign!
