  • Welcome to my home church.

  • On Christian scriptures: "The Old stuff was better"

  • SO TRUE

  • if you really think about it, jesus and even john the baptist were hipsters. john dressed like a homeless man, and jesus, who was homeless, was not all that into mainstream religion of the time. pluss, there were alot of authority figuers who hated them. Christianity for many years was considered an obscure cult, and christians were viewed as freaks....and still are sometimes. JESUS WAS THE ULTIMATE HIPSTER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • =)

  • Hey, I found Matt Hastings!

  • This is amazing looks like everybody at Mars Hill Ballard

  • @scoutsy it must be a Mars Hill thing in general :P I go to Mars Hill Albuquerque, and a lot of the people are exactly like this lol

  • This guy isn't a real Christian hipster.....a real Christian hipster is someone who prefers minor old testament prophets over the rest of the Bible. A real Christian hipster is someone who only references the Torah when quoting the Pentateuch. A real Christian hipster is someone who only reads the Greek versions of Paul's epistles to "better understand the language".

I should know. I am one.

  • @SPONGEBOB20 first rule for being a hipster is denying that you are one.

  • you guys are awesome.

  • i'm confused. do christians not like hipsters in their ranks? can one not be religious and cool? and isn't making cheeky, ironic internet videos kind of a hipster-y thing to do? also what makes him a christian hipster? he just looks like a hipster to me. a hipster circa 2002. leave it to the (hipster) christians to be a step behind the times...

  • @allpeoplearedaniel No it is not that christians don't like hipsters it's that there are A TON of christians who dress and act along these lines it's just poking fun of the fact that so many of the church's youth have taken hold of the hipster lifestyle

  • @allpeoplearedaniel Nothing about hipsters is cool.

  • cooler than the other side of the pillow omg

  • Thinking about every church I've ever gone to, this describes almost every single High School and Junior High School ministry leader. Hilarious!

  • looks like he goes to Mars Hill , or just lives in Seattle =P

  • The most ironic part about hipsters is that they're completely conforming by following this huge hipster/indie fad and dressing like this. And it's extra ironic because their main goal is irony, which means it's like double-irony. Meta-irony.

  • @xxTheseGoTo11xx Irony within irony. IRONYCEPTION

  • i was brought to this via facebook share...and just watched your other videos....subscribed

  • lol, this video brought to you by atheists wanting to keep Christians dorky =P

  • Hahaha this is brilliant. I literally saw half the guys under 20 at my church in this video.

  • Only thing I've got going is the chest hair.

  • You can't forget to mention that like other aspects of Christian culture, this look is also several years out of date. Skinny jeans, shemaghs, and fauxhawks were popular in 2008.

Dress how you want to dress, but the message here regardless of your beliefs should be that instead of trying to imitate fads you should work on creating a well thought out style. Personal style is evidence of a mind that is willing think and work things out on its own and not just follow fashion statements blindly.

  • @iirybackii Come to the Northwest and this is how a lot of us dress. I go to church near Portland and the majority of our students dress like this in some fashion. TOMS especially. At a larger church down the road, the majority of their students dress like this to a T. And they're proud of it. Definitely not out of style around here.

  • this is so funny. (: the kids at my church loveeeee this. mostly because they already are Christian hipsters. (;

  • so dressing like a hipster is bad? What is the proper way? Should we be prancing around in wingtips penny loafers and double breasted Italian suits trying to act like we are some corporate CEO? Or maybe a polo and a nice pair of dockers so we fit in with the country club crowd? Clothes are clothes and looks are looks they don't affect the heart. I have know people in each of the above descriptions who represent Christ both poorly and exceptionally well.

  • @thisjrocks No offense, but I think you're taking this a little bit too serious. It's a bit of the clone culture that all have gone through. It can be a bit pretentious, just like trying to dress like a yuppie or anything can. Really, don't take it so seriously. It's good to be able to laugh at ourselves sometimes.

  • @ctwtxusa no offense taken. And I am not upset by the humor in the video... more the people commenting on the video taking it too far

  • @thisjrocks I read a few of those myself. There are always going to be judgmental people. They can sort of take the fun out of it. :)

  • I know this cliche! Ha Ha ha!

  • Haha this is so true

  • Wow. Looks like were back in high school ... where people get labeled for their appearance. The only point you've made is that you judge people by the way they look.

  • oh dear... sad, but true

  • Scene

  • it's funny cause it's true. this guy's the clone of the majority of the guys at my college-town church... including my pastor

  • i need skinny jeans. Where do I get those?!

  • i literally have everything he is wearing ahah including the beard and hair and glasses

  • the only way to be cooler than a christian hipster is to make fun of a christian hipster.

  • hmm cool. a compilation that everyone who ISN'T christian has already seen.

  • Jesus is awesome. That's what matters.

  • This is the best thing I have seen in a long time.

  • Thanks guys for letting me be a part of this...Good times... Can't wait for the next how to!

  • @PlattPro thanks so much for all your hard work!

  • Lol!! This is like every dude at my church!!

  • that was a pretty hip video

  • CHEST HAAAAAIIR!!

  • I am so sick of these kinds of people. I went to Biola University, and that is practically all the people who go there dress exactly like this guy and have those stupid gross beards too. I am so tired of thisbullcrap false christianity and pretentious behavior. Biola is a place I do not recommend to go if you are desiring true Christian fellowship and good theological training.

  • @MaharlikaAWA Who cares how someone dresses, you're basing what they believe upon the way they present themselves... Yeah it's a lame school, so choose not to go there....

  • @Josiah77 Too bad I already went there kiddo and graduated. Biola teaches heresy and its not beause they dress like queers. The dressing like queers just goes hand in hand with their wack theology. Get a clue.

  • @Josiah77 - So if a pastor dressed like a Nazi, or wore a KKK outfit, would that be okay too?

  • @stegokitty

I probably would not attend BIOLA for theological training either but I doubt it has anything to do with the students' beards (or a humor video, for that matter). And to make the logical leap from dressing like a "hipster" to dressing like a Nazi or wearking a KKK hood is pretty far. Not sure that's a good analogy. Perhaps BIOLA doesn't train in logic either?

  • @peterpitchford79 - Firstly, I've no idea why you're responding to a post not directed to you; but secondly, I'm afraid you've misunderstood. I'm not from BIOLA (sounds like a disease to me), nor would I attend there, as I'm Reformed/Presbyterian, and doubt that I'd fit in well in such a place.

But I believe my analogy stands. It has to do with credibility. A man in a KKK or Nazi uniform would not be taken seriously as a reasonable student of the Bible and neither should such a "hipster".

  • @stegokitty That is entirely different. Our culture deems those things as wrong, our culture doesn't necessarily deem hipsterism as wrong or crude.

  • @Josiah77 - I deem a hipster as a pastor as wrong. In fact MORE wrong than a Nazi or a Klansman.

The pastor is in charge of the flock of Christ.

    Which is more important?

  • @stegokitty Wow, well you are simply basing that off you're own opinion. You have no scripture to back that up whatsoever! It's legalistic Christians like you that make me sick, you'll be put in your place someday, but I'll leave that up to God.

  • @Josiah77 - I'll be put in my place some day? Is THAT based on Scripture?

And what part of my statement was legalistic?

The fact that how one cares for the flock of Christ is more important than how one runs the government?

Both are important, but Christ lived, suffered, died, and arose again specifically for the sheep.

The Scriptures are filled with God's anger toward those who do not properly care for the sheep.

Someone overly infatuated with the culture of this world cannot do that properly.

  • @stegokitty What you're saying is that because someone cares about the way they dress, they cannot care about the flock and the Word of God at the same time. You my friend have some serious issues, more than likely do not have style and probably jealous of Christians who do. Keep shopping at K Mart and reading the BIble, move along!

  • @Josiah77 - So insults are your only way of dealing with an issue?

For the record, I didn't say that a person like that DIDN'T (emotionally) "care about" the flock, but that they "could not", as are incapable of doing a proper job, for the simple reason that they're too busy trying to look like the world. But I'm a bit puzzled about your last comment -- the "reading the Bible" part.

    Is that somehow passe?

Reading the Bible is a thing by which to make fun of a Christian?

    Who has the real problem?

  • @stegokitty No wonder why people think Christians are joke, it is because people like you who try and represent Christianity, but always end up missing the mark. Take your personal ideologies and do what you want with them, but I beg you don't go out and witness to people because you might end up being "too close" to people of the world.

  • Comment removed

  • @Josiah77 - Again, all you have to offer are insults. So let me make sure that I've got this right -- people who read their Bibles, & who love & respect the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ are the joke, but people who are overly concerned about their clothing, & who (apparently) have a disregard of the Bible, & who make fun of those who read the Bible are the ones who properly represent Christianity?

Do try and say something of substance next time, or rather keep your thoughts to yourself. K?

  • HAHA!! This is so funny :D I actually know guys that've done all this... *posts on FB*

  • wow. i didn't know we had a 'crowd'?? someone please explain!

  • I'm filipino... I can't grow chest hair. Guess I can't be a true Christian Hipster :'(

  • @Marvive42 Hey Filipino, check out my filipino videos. I am not filipino but white. I was in the filipino club in college and believe me filipinos are notorious for being hipsters and dressing just as gay as this guy. especially the filipinos from hawaii. Those scarvs are so stupid, you dont have to have chest hair to be a filipino hipster becuase some asians want to be totally effeminate and chest hair wouldnt work for that.

  • Christian hipster version of Fred Armisen.

  • How many other people watched this because it was posted on Stuff Christians Like?

  • ACUFF!!! (Like Simmons)

  • funny, he really did get better looking.

  • awesome. just awesome. haha.

    -Michelle
