@Mengster13 agree, most of the fights "looks" identical, without styles,i know the need of "mixed" training, but UFC is lacking in great personalities inside the octagon, outside it´s just a circus with a couple of clowns shouting
@Mengster13 Fuck yeah man, Pride WAS the most entertaining MMA event on the planet. UFC is full of wankers and "The ultimate fighter" only brings about more douch bags. You only get a handfull of fighters worth all the hype!
@stevefromchicago Its more the fact that the Japanese promotions have a tendency not to stop Saku's fights so he can pull these off. The Arona fight is an example of it backfiring, very very very badly
@onimas1 if they didn't have gloves on, Sakuraba could have a better hold of his toe or leg for a submission, thus being able to finish him before eating all these punches ( that he took as a true legend), or at least a lot earlier. If we think with that kind of logic, mma and other ''fighting sport would be nonsense. And by the way excuse me for my english if I made a few mistakes, my english is not that good.
@popowowow As it was Galesic had snaps in his foot and ankle while he was delivering the blows. As he put it he thought "well, there goes my foot i might aswell keep punching" then came the snap to his knee.
@ThomussTarbuck read which bro?(left a few comments here so not sure which you're askin about lol) about Zelg's leg? that i saw on his post fight interview.
@crocop2231 actually that commentator was Guy Mezgar. He fought Sakuraba to a draw in the first round of the 2000 grand prix. so obviously not a noob and knows Saku well since Saku's beaten many of his stablemates like Vernon White and Ken Shamrock. He was just saying what most trainers woulda been saying in Saku's corner. cept for Saku being ungodly amazing with subs.
@gazdalin lol bitch win? the whole time he was working the leg and in the end Saku left the ring with a few bruises and Zelg had to be carted out of the cage. Hopefully Zelg will be able to recover. As for Saku, he's a legend for a reason.
@FuckManAllGuys why u hating on lithunanian people u idiot. this vid has nothing to do with lithuania. damn hes croatian, give ur head a shake u dumb idiot.
Galesik en el minuto 6:06 del video.. cuando se cubre sakuraba, en lugar de concentrarse en sacar su pierna de la toma, siguió pegando y se canso, la resistencia de Sakuraba es increíble. pero en un vale calle, gana el polako
people look at sakus fights vs arono, the fights vs wanderlei, this is nothing compared to the punishment he absorbed then, if you think saku will tap to this you don't know saku.
I'm a huge Saku fan but anywhere else but Japan, that fight would have been stopped. After his next fight against Mayhem, I hope he can retire. Imagine the knowledge he could pass on to the next generation of fighter if he trained fighters full time.
@Gorilla396 I'm gonna respectfully disagree just a lil. I think any good ref would have let the fight continue. Saku's intelligently defending himself through all the striked which is the criteria for stoppage. He covers up when he has to and the entire time is working the sub (galesic had snaps in his foot, ankle and ultimately his knee, during the strikes). Any good ref is going to give a known sub fighter the chance to finish the submission before he's out.
@panther2552 I can see your point, but damn he took 11 hard shots starting at 5:43 then Saku rolled and had his head on the mat at 5:54 and he took 10 more hard shots before he even covered his face and those that I counted were just the clean fist to face shots. There were more to the side of the head. I appriciate the fact that the ref let it go and Saku pulled it out but thats a lot. I just dont want Saku getting brain damage like Shamrock.
@mjsstujo1 The average boxer get more hits in the head in just one round and luckily not many of them get permanently injured. Here I agree with the referee: let the master finish his work...
@mjsstujo1 no. cause saku still had a hold on zelg's foot and was still trying to work the sub. if saku didnt have the hold, then it wouldve been stopped.
Luck didn't land that single leg and it didn't keep that leg trapped. As clean as those strikes were, they took his attention from where it need to be; his leg. Zelg just got played like a fiddle.
@MusiC14545 how is it lame? Saku got the easy take down and had the leg doing damage to it throught the entire length of the fight. Zelg himself said he felt snaps in his foot, ankle then of course in his knee while he was doing the punching.
Nothing lame about it Zelg is a great fighter he just lost to one of if not the greatest MMA fighter ever.
@MusiC14545 i still don't get where you're saying luckily got his leg? Zelg's awesome but you gotta remember he's fighting Kazushi Sakuraba the greatest submission fighter in MMA history. Even at 40 Saku is dangerous for just that reason he can go home with anyone's arm or leg
@MusiC14545 wow. i guess you dont know mma that well. having a hold on a single leg isnt luck. its skill. mma fights arent about strikes only. mma was started by ground fighters. the fighters who made mma as popular as it is today were the gracies and sakuraba. and they were all submission fighters.
@MusiC14545 Sakuraba in his prime not only fought the who is who of mma in that time but he faced fighters much heavier than him, beating many of them while giving a real show... thast why he was the best and a true legend. Also The guy is a natural 185 pounder, during his career he fought Belfort, E.Braga, A.Goes, Rogerio Nogueira, Wanderlei, Mezger,Arona, Shamrock, Vernon white,Rampage, Manhoef(205 guys) Conan silveira, Randleman, Vovchanchyn, Mirko (heavyweights). lmao he's not a no name.
@judaschongo i personally think the Kimura should be renamed to the Sakuraba. Atleast the standing rolling version of it. The Gracies named it after Kimura in honor of his victory over Helio, but I haven't seen anyone use to with such grace as Saku. and yep no better Single Leg in MMA history than Saku's
@VpY22 hehe aye, or atleast rename the standing Kimura the Sakuraba. It was named after Kimura because he defeated Helio with it. Saku beat 4 Gracies, reckon that's worth a change.
might wanna watch the fight again bro. as Galesic said there were three different snaps in his leg from the time Saku first took the leg to the final submission
That to me was amazing! Saku got his face pummelled but still grit his teeth and pulled off a great knee bar! Wow. Great stuff, well done Sakuraba. Legend.
they r working with strike force in order to be more competitive against the ufc, its a good thing, hopefully it will bring more ppl from the ufc over and stop all the dana white BS
@womblewandering This was just for one event. Dream had the cage only for this event. It was an experiment more than anything. They returned with the ring in subsequent events.

@SteveSmith26 Agreed, but cagefigths are way boring when two grapplers face each other, as they use the cage to make the opponent tired, in this scenario ring is more fun.
@SteveSmith26 yeah for sure, but if u are in the audience it is more pleasing to watch it in a ring, the cage is too hard to see through, when there is a ring u can actually see the 2 fighters going at it without having to look at the big screen
Wow I like Saku he played a dangerous game going for the sub like that i've seen guys do that before and got ko'ed matter of fact Saku got ko'ed by my twin melvin manoef XD well not my twin but we have the same name. x_x could you imagine having a straight animal as a big brother? he'd probably beat the hell out of just because your there. I know I would. lol
Apparently Sakuraba broke a whole bunch of ligaments in Galesic's leg. Every time he change holds he broke another set of ligaments. Well done Saku he is legendary but respect to Galesic!
@quezzie13 He is the greatest ever but I hope he does retire. The guy has taken SO much damage I don't want to see him become the MMA version of Muhammad Ali.
@nachdehasdeh He has accomplished more than enough to be considered a legend/pioneer for the rest of time that MMA is around so he really has nothing left to prove.
in the states unfortunately yes, but the ref did a good job realizing Saku had the leg still. and if you watch the action closley, when the ref calls "action" saku changes position slightly aswell to show he's fine.
you're kidding yourself if you think the referee was in the right. Any human being with a conscious would have have stopped the fight. What most of you don't realise is that Sakuraba has brain damage and taking 20 unanswered shots to the head is inhumane.
A referee is going to take in to consideration the fighters history. In Saku's case he's pulled off victories more amazing that this. And in this case there was more of a reason to give him the chance to finish as he did since he was literally working the leg the entire time.
As for brain damage there's still no evidence of it in Saku. Rumors of that surface prior to his 2nd fight with Royce and for that fight to be sanctioned in the states he had to pass physicals testing for brain trauma.

@SteveSmith26 yeah for sure, but if u are in the audience it is more pleasing to watch it in a ring, the cage is too hard to see through, when there is a ring u can actually see the 2 fighters going at it without having to look at the big screen

@SteveSmith26 i've always preferred the ring more anyways. dont really know the purpose of the cage except for the "Cool" factor.

Apparently Sakuraba broke a whole bunch of ligaments in Galesic's leg. Every time he change holds he broke another set of ligaments. Well done Saku he is legendary but respect to Galesic!

What do you have against Sakuraba?
JohnLeeMD 2 years ago
@quezzie13 He is the greatest ever but I hope he does retire. The guy has taken SO much damage I don't want to see him become the MMA version of Muhammad Ali.
Gregolian 1 year ago
@Gregolian I agree with you. He has taken too much and come far. There is a point of no return for everything hopefully he doesn't pass it.
nachdehasdeh 1 year ago
@nachdehasdeh He has accomplished more than enough to be considered a legend/pioneer for the rest of time that MMA is around so he really has nothing left to prove.
Gregolian 1 year ago
@quezzie13 No do retire Saku. You have done your part. You are a legend. No more to prove. Take care of your head and health instead than fight.

he was a little bit lucky, some referees would have stopped the fight way earlier.
plasticboy81 2 years ago
in the states unfortunately yes, but the ref did a good job realizing Saku had the leg still. and if you watch the action closley, when the ref calls "action" saku changes position slightly aswell to show he's fine.
panther2552 2 years ago
you're kidding yourself if you think the referee was in the right. Any human being with a conscious would have have stopped the fight. What most of you don't realise is that Sakuraba has brain damage and taking 20 unanswered shots to the head is inhumane.
FireProMMA 2 years ago
A referee is going to take in to consideration the fighters history. In Saku's case he's pulled off victories more amazing that this. And in this case there was more of a reason to give him the chance to finish as he did since he was literally working the leg the entire time.
As for brain damage there's still no evidence of it in Saku. Rumors of that surface prior to his 2nd fight with Royce and for that fight to be sanctioned in the states he had to pass physicals testing for brain trauma.

is unhuman but he is like a rock and he makes it clear to the rest of the people INSIDE THE RING even the referee gets it he kicked that guys ASS man
