  • For everybody who keeps asking. It's a 453 2 valve with added to4b turbo on a factory 453t exhaust manifold,N90 injectors,sw vs governor, world class t5 trans with 0.63 od from a 88 camaro,D60 rear end with 3.79 gears.

  • Adjust the fuel rack levers under the valve cover so the rack on the injectors just tilt a little all four at the same time when the main fuel rack gov. linkage is disconnected from the gov.

  • 2 strokes are not bad but you need to find people that know them to learn them, or goto school. DI diesels like the 5.9 cummins, 7.3, 6.0 and 6.4 powerstroke, and 6.6 Duramax are more similar to gasers, and really easy to make lots of power, dollar for dollar the 5.9 between 94.5 and 98 with the bosch p7100 is the best diesel on the planet. And they are a dime a dozen

    And a first grader could swap one into anything that it can fit into..

  • detroit engines back in those years they leaked, but lasted forever! Don't be a idiot that's old technolgy. The new detroits don't leak, they are very reliable, and very durable. Detroit series 60 is the best and longest lasting heavy duty truck engine hands down.

  • The old 2 strokes' sound outweighs every negative aspect to truck lovers. As for the new ones, I have personally driven a 2002 60 series 14L 600hp to 950K when the transmission went. Engine still didn't burn oil, power was as strong as ever. Had a C15 cat after that; Much more low/midrange torque, but it blew up at 420K and got worse mileage so I would rather have the Series 60 for reliability.

It is, GM has and will continue to outsell Ford both in Full size trucks and in market share.

  • They have exhaust valves in the head,and intake ports in the liners,the valves open at the same time the piston drops below the ports,and the blower pushes the exhaust out past the valves. And before you ask,no I dont have to mix oil in with my diesel becouse its a two stroke. (I get asked this question daily)

  • A 6V-53 CAN fit in a truck this size. Type 6V-53 in the Youtube search engine and watch what comes up.

  • is the ford front end still stock,did you have to modifie the oil pan ,on mine (chevy)I had to reverse the pan and cut out about one inch,my is a two wheel dr

  • The front suspension is all stock,with the oil pan sump in the front.I had to notch out the crossmember in a few spots,but it fits real nice.

  • You can run a 24 and a 12v system.You take two 12v batteries and connect them in a series, but you connect the truck and all its accessories to the terminals on ONE battery, and you can hook the power to the jake form the negative on the 1st battery, and the positive on the 2nd. That *should* work

    if not, you'll destroy that engine in short order. the NA version of the engine does not have oil sprayers for the pistons, among other things...

  • actualy its just a 17.1 compression two valve N/A that I put a turbo on, ive been driving it about 100 miles a day for the past 7 months with no problems.

  • Id love to put jakes on it, but I havent been able to find any used,and the only ones jacobs still sells are 24 volt.

  • look up motelcambodia on youtube. he's running a 3-53 in his 64 chevy for a while now, and i believe he's equipped w/ jakes. maybe he converted a 24v system? i don't believe his truck is 24v though

  • thats one cool thing about detroit motors. you can install jakes on them! Now you couldent do any of that on a powerstroke or a duramax now could ya? :P

  • You can get 12v solenoids to replace the 24 volt if that's all you can find. 53 series Jakes are extremely hard to find used, and way expensive new...
