I usually like James Brown's version of a song better than versions by people he produced, but in this case I like both Bobby Byrd's and the Variations' versions better. .
@unique74muzik yeah, now that you mention it, "There It Is" does use the Wah Wah. I guess once Isaac Hayes used it to success, everybody had to try it. Love that tight crisp drumming in There It Is too
@elquebi nine times outta ten this was around the time they did the "There It Is" sessions...There It Is & Make It Good To Yourself are the only two JB records that contain Wah Wah effect. Unique74
Bobby doin his thang man! Listen to the backbeat of the funky drummer! James and Bobby, the funk masters from the south who gave birth to the funky drum tracks for the hip hop genre.
@colsnake331 That's my favorite song from BB. It swings like hell. But it's damn near impossible to find as a single anywhere. If you buy the compilation on Amazon, it's on there.
Let's all give a soulful salute to one of the unsung legends of soul. The one who told us to Get On Up and Get Involved, Mr. Soul Power himself, Bobby Byrd. Why? Bcause I Know You Got Soul.
R.I.P - I just learned of your death and because of the ignorance of my youth I never really listened to you, but I will respect your memory because you were the reason we had James Brown.

RIP Bobby Byrd!
So sad that the man who collaborated so much to Soul music didn't get the recognition he deserved at him passing.
Another great Soul icon has left us.
