@rOnmanStrat I had this dilema yesterday...a used ocd and a used fd2....the fd2 won in my book personally. the ocd is a great pedal no doubt but imo there's more versatility in this one.
I have this pedal. It sounds amazing through a Fender Bassman, which is the amp I tried it out on in the store. Nice shimmering highs, and tight bottom end....I buy the pedal, bring it home and realize how shit my amp is. That's where 99 percent of your sound comes from.....I play it through a Randall G3...and it sounds NOTHING like it did in the store...particularly because of the amp differences. It still sounds good nonetheless.
I have the oldschool Full-Drive 2 and for some reason, no matter what guitar, or what amp I'm using, you cant crank the drive cause it bleeds too much of the dry signal through. Can anybody tell me why?
I just got one of these yesterday and it is so killer. It isn't an extremely hot overdrive, even though it does have plenty of gain, but instead it keeps your guitar's tone totally pure while being very tweak-able. The boost feature can be used as a solo boost or with your volume knob or a volume pedal to give you a totally different kind of OD.
@RyLay Thanks for that little bit of clarity - oft missed. So the boost can be used independently to the drive? I.e. with the o/drive off the boost still works to push your amp in a clean and linear fashion? Thanks
Bought one of these 2 years ago. Drives the absolute crap outta my Blues Junior. Running an ash Tele with Duncan 1/4 pounders. For that extra special sauce I added a Weber Attenuator. The combo produces some of the sweetest sounds this side of Chicago. BTW, I ditched the Fender speaker that came with the Junior and swapped it for a Celestion S30. Maximum thump with some serious twang. Thanks, guys!
you can't go wrong with Fulltone. was there any product made by them that failed? it's just amazing, every single tone he sets rocks. the same with OCD. and their Wah pedal. and so on. ..
can someone explain exactly what the boost feature does? is there a pedal that offers only this feature to use with other pedals (tubescreamber or bd-2)
@MrUnseenBucket if u have the money get both... the ocd is mor of a dirtier overdriven marshall jcm800 and the fulldrive 2 is mor of a transparent overdriven fender deluxe reverb sound
Hi, tell me, I have active pick-ups, in bridge EMG89, SV in mid, and SLV in neck position. I was wondering, you played this with passive pick-ups, yes? If yes, tell me, did you try it on active as well, I need to know how it would sound. I also have VOX AD50VT amp.
Thank you :) you are still my favorite net shop :D
Excellent work. Good job clearly explaining the signal path and the clean sound demo prior to rocking the thing out. Especially like the time you spent on the broad range of sounds, rather than just putting it all on 10.
Thanks, Andy for this video. I have a KeeleyTS9 Mod Plus. Will this pedal match well with the Keeley or am I just fine with the Keeley TS9 alone? I was thinking of pairing the Keeley TS808 or the Maxon OD08 with my TS9. Any suggestions?

I found that if you replace the 4.7k gain resistor with a 10k resistor, It makes all three toggle position more useable. It is like you have three different amps:
clean comp cut boost
clean flat mid boost
clean vintage boost
To me the pedal was to much, what i mean is it is kind of brittle and harsh where the boost sounded horrible.
Now the pedal you can play amp clean , overdrive mild and boost to max overdrive and it actually sounds amazing.
Used full drive last night for time live with a fulltone OCD and other Full tones pedals.... AMAZING! Had a line 6 floor podplus and the full tones blow it out of the water. Have a strat with a fender reissue hot rod deville 4x10.
Second "channel" is only an extra gain stage. It must be used with the left side engaged first.
If you're looking for two independent overdrives in one you should check out the T-Rex Moller or the Double Hot Cake by Crowther Audio. Both killer pedals but quite a bit more than the FD.
I have a Keeley fuzz head, which is like an OD/Fuzz... I use it with my friends Bass Drive and it's an amazzzingg combo. I'm thinking of getting one of these or a bassdrive.
I'm in the same boat. Should I get my TS9 modded with the Keeley mod plus or just get this? I'm not really satisfied with my TS9 at all but maybe the mod would change my mind. The Full-Drive 2 seems way more versatile though.
does anyone know (who owns this) if it blankets your amp with a slightly different tone than how your clean channel responds? ex. will my vibro king still sound as touch sensitive with this pedal on?
Im looking to get a pedal that can give me a sound like pre-American Idiot Green Day. Don't get me wrong, I love AI & I don't care who knows it or what they think, I just like his tone alot more on the previous albums. Anyone have any suggestions?
I have a fender deluxe 2008 model with the SCN pickups. I dont really like the sound of them. Do you think this pedal will help improve the tone or should i exchange the pickups aswell?
got the same guitar and I have the FD2 mosfet. I changed my pickups for some suhr v60's... killer... it sounded nice with the SCN but I wasn't a strat....
The Fulltone has more you can adjust for different tones. However, if you were going to buy a TS808 and have it modded, then it becomes even better. I would say that if you don't want to mess with mods, get this.
Definately get this. TS808 not true bypass unless you get a Keely one. Also I find the two step system very useful and it's great to have the othe option like comp cut, flat mids etc. Get one now!!!
what would fit my needs better, this or the OCD? i play on a Traynor YCV50 with a strat (neck pickup) i use the Traynor's OD channel all the time to have a nice light overdrive sound and then i step on my boss OD/Dist pedal to add more gain, the boss doesnt get the job done at all.

Completely different. A Tubescreamer is a light overdrive with some of the best blues tone I have yet to hear. The Fulldrive is more of a distortion pedal.
I had a Maxon OD808, which is pretty much closer to a "true vintage" Ibanez Ts808 due to circuitry, but i returned it to get the Fulltone FD2 Mos after hearing someone play through one. You can get GREAT blues tones out of this pedal, it is also super responsive to the volume knob on your guitar, so cleaning up your tone a bit with just a touch of OD is very easy. I recommend this hands down! then after awhile go get an 808, but this offers soo much more
I don't have this, but I do have the TS-9, and I can't stop using it... this sounds great too, though... so if this is cheaper, then maybe this is better?
Does this pedal have a power jack on it? I hate running my pedals on batteries and I would hate to buy this thing to find I can't power it through an outlet xD
I just got one of these and really like it. At first, I did not notice as much of a boost with the boost side. However, I then realized that if the OD is past 2pm, you don't notice as much of a boost with the boost engaged (especially in the vintage mode). The last part of the video shows two distinct sounds when rolling of the OD to about 9 and putting the boost at about 1 or 2. Anyone else agree with me on the boost mode?
I think it cleans up okay - not as good as my barber ODs but better than most others. The real difference between this and other tube screamer type ODs is this has more compression (so the volume control has less of an effect).
idk what to get im getting a Marshall 1959slp and just got a fender '62 strat relic with cs 69 pup, i want a good OD for like Hendrix SRV and clapton tones with that bright bite so should i get this or a ocd, any other option any one?
guess what santas bringing me this saturday ^.^ thats right. cant wait!

Completely different. A Tubescreamer is a light overdrive with some of the best blues tone I have yet to hear. The Fulldrive is more of a distortion pedal.
OneTimer1127 2 years ago
Wrong. This is not a distortion pedal...it's overdrive, just like a tubescreamer. The clue is in the name ffs!
tommart123 2 years ago
it IS a tubescreamer.

I would definitely go with the FD2. i've got one and i love it. it has an excellent reputation. and it's more versatile than a tube screamer.

I say this, a keeley ts9, or a keeley bd-2.
ilovemyfender1 2 years ago
I don't have this, but I do have the TS-9, and I can't stop using it... this sounds great too, though... so if this is cheaper, then maybe this is better?

Great pedal! but how I can jump it to get a more distorted sound? any booster or other od like boss SD1? tell me please!!!!
promenadebcn 2 years ago
ugh...I hate the boss SD1. Takes away all your bass!
Ombrenuit 2 years ago 4
Yeah I completely agree. I regret buying one.
Ombrenuit 2 years ago 6
same! anyone want to buy a second hand SD1? haha
I think i'm going to get this, i like the raw drive it gives, sounds less synthetic that a lot of other pedals.

Does this pedal have a power jack on it? I hate running my pedals on batteries and I would hate to buy this thing to find I can't power it through an outlet xD
Br3yd3n 3 years ago
Yes it does. Don't you see that power cable behind the pedal between the input and output cables? ;)

After watching this demo, I had my mind set on a fulldrive!
Therefore I went to the guitar shop to purchase it. I tried a Fulldrive mosfet and an OCD through a bogner amp and the OCD kicked its ass!
I was really disappointed with the fulldrive because it had a lot of mid range, which I like but it just didn't sound like nice mid range.
If you are considering buying this pedal, please consider the fulltone ocd because it gives of a lot more twang and just sounds miles better thanks!

You liked the OCD better? which version do you know?
bopplayer 2 years ago
I just got one of these and really like it. At first, I did not notice as much of a boost with the boost side. However, I then realized that if the OD is past 2pm, you don't notice as much of a boost with the boost engaged (especially in the vintage mode). The last part of the video shows two distinct sounds when rolling of the OD to about 9 and putting the boost at about 1 or 2. Anyone else agree with me on the boost mode?

I got a blues driver from boss for the tone boost in blues. Would this be worth for the gain boost?
filerocktheworld 3 years ago
The blues driver is nothing compared to the Fulldrive 2

I sold my Boss BD-2 for a FullDrive 2, honestly I regret this !! The Bd-2 (even un-modified) is a great pedal.
Just compare them next to each other and you'll see what i mean.
triggersfordreams 3 years ago
hm. that's interesting to hear. I mean i believe you... it's just funny cause this pedal is talked up so much.
amateurlife 2 years ago
BD-2 without a mod is great on its own, check out my channel stacked with the fulldrive-2. I'd love to get an OCD though...

Ive got my OCD and really want one of these!!! Does this one clean up with your guitar volume?
guns1rose 2 years ago
I think it cleans up okay - not as good as my barber ODs but better than most others. The real difference between this and other tube screamer type ODs is this has more compression (so the volume control has less of an effect).
mattpowers2 2 years ago
Does anyone know how well this pedal responds to the volume control on your guitar?
yoyoyo17941113 3 years ago
Watch part one where he uses his Gibson. At one point he turns guitar volume down and it cleans up quite nicely.

Fuzzface.
weirdotis 3 years ago
I would check out a fuzzface, an mxr fuzz (which is about the same thing but smaller and more versatile), or any of the MGM london fuzz series.
