I made the motte from balsa wood, just like the houses. It took me ages to cut out the holes for the windows using my craft knife and a steel ruler to keep the cuts straight. I did make balsa floors (top/bottom/two middle) to keep the shape. The roof pieces were done by trial and error until it looked OK and fitted properly.
Hi I'm in y 7 and we've been set 2 make a motte and bailey castle, I was attempting 2 do it all out of wood but the shapes would be 2 difficult 2 cut out so thanks 4 this it's a lot simpler and probably better

This is a wonderful video, clearly showing exactly how you made your fantastic model. I'm sure it will be a help to others who have to make a Motte and Bailey Castle in future years at your school. The idea of making a video of the whole process, rather than just some pictures of the completed model, was brilliant!
This is really quite good, I would love to see a Motte and Bailey made by you without time constraints but alas school isn't like that :P As for the moat it looked very nice but not all Motte and Balieys had moats in fact few did but still a very nice piece you should be very proud!
