Trudeau was a puppet of the global elite. He destroyed Canada by taking the national debt into a steep climb by beginning borrowing from international bankers and he enabled the judicial system to have more power than they are supposed to have - enabling the forming of a huge divorce/family destruction industry that is destroying families every day.
I never liked Trudeau much. He was however a visionary with balls and courage, unlike the namby pamby wafflers we have today... all parties.
Of course Trudeau was probably unaware that the Chinese probably viewed this as a leader of a 'barbarian' country coming to pay homage to China's superior civilization.
This visit occurred during the Cultural Revolution 1966-1976. Trudeau was probably oblivious to the trauma that Mao was perpetrating against Chinese society, from top to bottom.
@fanwuren Well don't worry we have a President in America who is a total moron today called Obama. His vision is to run Americans out with his inhumane healthcare legislation where Americans are forced to buy Health Insurance. Besides look at the non western nations they have inhumane laws where they force people to pay for protection and people that are smart enough to notice flee to nations like Canada and America where you only pay taxes once a year on paper not at gun point with death threat
The loyal ally I was referring to was the Republic of China without whom we would have never defeated the Japanese. And far more Canadians fought in the Vietnam War than did Nationalist Chinese. And which part of China today is a thriving democracy, Taiwan or the Mainland?
@Lairor Any Canadian history would agree that in the 1970s the Americans were trying to pressure Canada into a disadvantageous political and economic situation. America tried to to pressure Canadian support for Vietnam at the same time trying to take increasing control of Canada's economic position through unfair trade treaties giving America ridiculous trading advantages while extracting Canada's resources on the cheap. Trudeau showed the world that we are fully independent of American politics
@Firestrike313 You must have missed my point about how I wasn't talking about the United States. And establishing ties with the PRC just to show we're independent from the US? That’s sounds like the diplomatic version of teenage rebellion. Besides, no matter what the US has done, and there have been some terrible things, they will never rack up a record like Red China has.
@Lairor I'm not sure which other "loyal ally" Canada "betrayed" by engaging in dialogue with the PRC. You claim that the dialogue with the PRC (which supposedly equated to "cozying up") was a diplomatic mistake. Do you also consider dialogue with countries like North Korea, Iran to be mistakes as well? I do recall that the PRC has never once engaged in slavery, while the US had to fight itself to get rid of slavery, then embraced segregation for many years.
@Firestrike313 You obviously didn’t read my post. I clearly stated I was talking about the Republic of China, the state today commonly referred to as Taiwan. The ROC used to control the entire mainland and it was during that time they fought the Japanese invasions. For example engaging in dialogue with North Korea, doesn’t preclude relations with South Korea. But as far as China is concerned you can only recognize one or the other. I’d prefer to do business with the democratic China.
@Firestrike313 And you’re not actually suggesting the US is somehow worse than the PRC, that’s just laughable. I suppose they don’t practice segregation per se. But, especially in the early years, anyone who didn’t fully commit themselves to the Communist ideology would be killed or worse. And Tibetans, Uyghurs, Manchus, etc. are not treated as equal to Han Chinese. The US’s record is far from unblemished but they can’t be blamed for causing 40 million deaths of their own people.
@Firestrike313 Now you’re just being silly comparing 19th century United States with 20th century China. FYI, China only abolished slavery in 1906 and for centuries prior to that up until the Xinhai Revolution the majority Han Chinese were treated as second class citizens. As far as North Korea or Iran are concerned, dialogue with those countries doesn’t involve shutting out another country. Recognizing the PRC involves not recognizing the free and democratic ROC (Taiwan).
Did you know the FBI spied on Trudeau for about 30 years. Apparently some douchebag separatist from Quebec reported him to the Americans as a communist. Then when he became PM his relations with Castro and Mao didn't paint a pretty picture for the Imperialist Yanks.
CLASSIC. They must have had a heyday making this video; all you need is the reassuring, triumphant chords of music to know all is well between the Chairman and the humbled leader of Dr Bethune's homeland.
I'd like to say they just don't make propaganda like this anymore. But, you know. They do. Despite the unmistakeable colossusness of Mao, I'm still kind of disappointed a man of Trudeau's wit couldn't have some up with something subtle and cutting to say with *that* many elephants in the room.
Un tueur... Lévesque? A tu pris du crack? Il a toujours dit que les anglophones québécois garderont leurs avantages et je suis d'accord... mais il nous faut un pays
Oh wow. You made yourself look like an idiot. Fortunately I am mature enough to know that not all Quebec citizens are like this, only a few morons (like yourself). And people wonder why Quebec is so hated!
Yes, Mao's muder of 35,000,000 people surely was colossal. As were Turdeau's blunders in expressing admiration for the likes of him, Castro and Brezhnev.
Sorry Canada80, Sweiland75 is right. Richard Nixon visited China in February 1972 and PET went there in October 1973. Canada was first in recognizing the PRC in 1971 and the U.S. didn't do so until New Years Day 1979, long after both Mao and Nixon had left the scene.
nice video and commentary I was always looking for these early images you get a feeling of what was done in history which leads to where we are now...
Even someone like Trudeau who thought himself a great man and others had to take a back step to the colossus that was Mao Zedong. Very interesting and well done.

Biggest diplomatic mistake in Canadian history. We turned our backs on a loyal ally in order to cozy up to the world's worst human rights abuser.

Our loyal ally was slaughtering Vietnamese peasants - so really, at that piont, it was "pick your war criminal".

Trudeau ALMOST managed to destroy Canada. Alberta and Quebec are still talking of seperatism long after the tard died. Thanks Trudeau!!
By the way, thanks for supporting Mao too, you retard!

Fuck you, Trudeau was one of our greatest Prime Ministers.
Quebec is hardly talking about seperatism anymore, and would've been anyway regardless of who'd been PM.
As for meeting with China, it's diplomacy. Talking to other countries is the best way to solve the world's problems.
