She was masquerading as Carly (who was promised to him through some family tradition type thing), he found out and raped her. She ended up with Jack but freaked out and slapped him after she called him a rapist, it was nothing Jack did to Jen, she had a flashback of what Lawrence did. Jack always felt bad about what he did to Kayla and she forgave him for it.
