  • she is ok now. and now leting me touch her hed and back. but still will not step up from perch. she bin on my hand once and tricking her with treats does not work i just try 2 touch her feet and then reward her do u no of any other way

  • @liamnhillier hold your finger out and slowly push up against her lower chest while she is on her perch this throws them a bit off balance and they have to step up to your finger or they will fall.

Or if she is very shy and not handled much try a small hand held perch do the same as above

    good luck .

  • @rockybeach1 i tried that but she just pushes down more

  • i have a green cheek conure i have had it for 4days now and it just started regergatating wot do i do

  • @liamnhillier now is this vomitting or regergating, vomitting is when the bird is eating food that makes them ill, regergating is what they do for ther young or mates acts of kindness to share there food .Does your bird look ill or acting sluggish and not being not active, could be foods that they are not use to eating also. What kind of food is he cucking up?

  • @rockybeach1 pellet mix food, sunflower seeds she chucking both up but is lokking fine but is getting violent when vomiting she only started vomiting today and ive had her for 6 dyas

  • @liamnhillier she is probally fine if she looks healthy, because she is cucking up may need time to adjust to new food if this is the case, they may look strange when chucking up ,difficult for me to really tell if you think she is sick take her to a avian vet.

  • @rockybeach1 i asked the vet 2 day i just did not no what 2 do last night and all i could think 2 do was ask people on you tube she is chucking up because she is showing affection, thank you for your help.

  • @liamnhillier thank u 4 your help

  • Whats the dust mask company?

  • i thought this was labled "how to super tame" you didnt show how to do anything. lble your videos properly

  • your so mean...

  • chi chi's owner go poop

  • he allows my husband ONLY to touch him, he has lunged at my husband before but never bitten him like he does me...no i am in mississippi near hattiesburg, I would LOVE to get a trainer out here, if anybody knows of one...

  • @tia27721

I ad vise u to get a clicker and a glove and do some clicker training.

  • What's the name of the shop I live by Austin tx

  • Tia--where r u located? If u were in Austin TX, there is an amazing guy at a local petstore that could really help u with ur bird

  • my nanday conure BITES me everytime i try and stick my hand in the cage, He DRAWS BLOOD everytime, and IM SCARED OF HIM.....HELP ME,,,,,, i have NOT touched him in over a year now, i have a slide out bottom and all i do is clean his cage, but i WONT touch him anymore!!!!! because he hates me HELP ME PLEASE...im really terrified i tried selling him and NOBODY WILL BUY HIM BECAUSE OF HOW AGGRESSIVE HE IS

  • @tia27721. I have problems with my yellow sided conure. He hates everyone but me, I'm the only one who can pet him. I can't do anything with mine either, it's just his personality, I know this doesn't help, but just know your not the only one, I hope things turn out well =)

  • i could not understand why you have to put your sun counure on the vacum cleaner

why not put him far from the terrible noise

its life is outside,. in the open and you turn him into a miserable puppet

    disgusting

  • My yellow sided conure is 6 and afraid of just about everything. Some times she is fine and is normally ok with hands. Do you know how I can clam her down? I hate how she takes off! She usually comes back to me but I have cats and this is getting old :(

  • I've never known a bird who didn't like a vacuum.

  • You didn't tell us how you trained Chichi, misleading titllee D: Cute bird though.

  • I'm scared of air filters.

  • He's a good boy.

  • Wow this is amazing tips that i didnt even think of. thank you.

  • its Nicholas Cage!!!!!

  • One thing you have to be careful with vacuum's some birds are not afraid of it. Our sun conure tries to attack the vacuum when we vacuum under his cage. To get large pieces of food dropped I take the end piece off of the hose. I thought it was funny that my bird was playing with the nozzle until his head almost got sucked into the hose. This pertains more to smaller birds of course.

  • Haha you look like some creepy uni-bomber with all that on, and that doesn't make them super tame. It just makes them used to noises.

  • The things you just did would send my 14 yr old Green-Cheek into a frenzy. I did tyr to de-sensitize him when he was a baby but he went through a year if being very bitey & nippy, and he now, for some reason has a mortal fear of anything covering my eyes (even a wash cloth) and anything long like a cane or yardstick. Your baby is very cute, sweet, and amazingly calm.

    Peace,

    Zerah

  • the bird isnt tame, its obviously scared. i haved worked with conures for many years, and a sign of being scared isnt jumping, but looking around rapidly.

  • I want to get a green cheek hopefully in July but i live in a small house. Is that still ok??

  • @Antihippiemachine

yes, your care & interactions with the bird are more important

  • Dont put your hand in the cages lets he/she get out himself !Its always better!

  • My budgies 5 years old and still abit scared when i put my hand in the cage :S.

issit too l8 for me to want to try n get him out ?

  • no never to late,, try a small hand perch let him sit on it and bring him out and small treats to lure him out move slowly and talk gently so they gain trust.good luck

  • @rockybeach1 I agree. For the longest time I couldn't get my GCC to come out so I held her favorite treat in my hand and she walked out onto my hand.

  • @rockybeach1

i need help with my green cheek conure because ive had him for a year but he's still extremely aggressive to guests.

  • @rockybeach1 :D I found a great one! He bits VERY softly (A love nibble) and thats it! I just got him today. Now if only I can potty train him then everything would be perfect XD

  • @wolfur1 Congrats on your new friend the conure, hope you have a good time training him .

  • @rockybeach1 He is a sun conure, he is doing great! I can now touch him under his wings and he gives me kisses, with the kisses if I make a noise while doing it he makes the same noise then kisses! :D

  • @wolfur1 cool, sun's are beautiful birds the only thing I don't care is once they mature they have a loud flock call you will find this out later on enjoy you new bird.

  • @rockybeach1 He is VERY loud, which makes me gratefull that I live on two and a half acres of land. He is quite as long as someone is in the room with him, he also is a great sleeper he does not make any very loud nosies till I walk out of the room, which I find very sweet of him because that means he likes me. I would also like to know how often to clean his cage. It is a good sized cage and I plan to clean the bottem part of it every saturday and the whole cage its self every month.

  • @wolfur1 it depends on how bad the smell gets and how clean you like it,I cleaned my birds cages once a day but I have allergies so that may be alot for you to do.

A wipe down on the bottom grill once a day and change the newspapers in the bottom tray ever few days. When I was a volunteer at the world parrot rescue we would change the papers ever day clean is always good for your bird and also for you and always have clean water dishes and clean food dishes on a daily basis.

  • @rockybeach1 Again thanks for responding, I keep his bars clean whenever he poops on them, and I think I will also change it every few days, its in my room so I cant let it get too smelly :P I have gotten him to walk over to my hand now so I dont even have to reach inside the cage now.

  • @MentalMohsin actually the best way i found to get my budgies to trust me is(this may be a little risky for the health tho, so dont make it a habbit) i wait for them to finish eating there food till they start to scavenger around the floor of the cage them grab a handful of food and stick it in there before you know it they will come and sit on your hand and after doing this they should trust you :)

  • Oh yeah my bird hates my air filter ..

  • Sounds like you have more phobias than your cute birdie!

  • haha, I have a pearly conure and he has the same cage as Chi Chi , lol. Nice videos btw.

  • hello-like ya vids. and wanna ask if you think that "wild birds"can be trained in that way too?

  • thanks, yes lots of wild bird can be trained

but it is best to get a baby to start this training.(you become there parent/mate then they learn this process very fast.

  • I 'm saying this to larryharrisson11 i have green cheek bird too

  • I get a cocatoo and green cheak bird. they best behaved but when bad put in pot of water on stove remind thems good soup if bad.good birds can live and breath have fun too

  • how do i tame this budge i ondce found in the grden its small it bareli has a tale cuz i THINK its young the vet its about...4 months....

it has a colorful nose so dat means its a male *right*?

and it keeps running away and stuf..now it bited but i don mind cuz its small s it doesnt hurt....but is there ANY way i can get him to not get scared or run away or bite or scream wen i come near him???

    PLEASEE HEELLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    THANKYO

    xxxxxx

    hugz n kisses

    *plz help*

  • remember this, patience is they key of trainning a bird (JUST IGNORE THE BAD BEHAIVOUR AT THE BEGINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can you or anyone tell me... I'd buy a (sun) conure tomorrow, if only I could find a way of training it NOT to yell and be generally loud for the most part. I'm in an apartment, surrounded by many others... they're such great birds, I'd love to have one. Is a quieter conure even possible?? Thanks in advance!

  • green cheek conures flock calls are quieter, best are senegal ,myers or red belly parrots flock calls are not bad most birds do this call sun rise and sunset also to check up on other flock members

    like you the bird handler.

  • I think, study a few birds. Find one that has the personality & habits you want. Don't try to force one into your mold.

Sun Conures are naturally loud. If you try to push that out of them, they could become neurotic, chewing feathers, etc.

A Green Cheek is one good idea. Visit a good bird store. They will advise you. Better yet, a place that will adopt out birds after training you to be a good owner!

If you adopt an adult bird, its personality is a firm known, not a mystery.

  • @Organiston26th

Stay away from the Aratingas; especially the Sun Conures if you're worried about noise. The Suns can sometimes rival an Amazon.

Green-cheeks are from the Pyrrhuras and are usually quieter & much more suited for apartment living. No bird is totally quiet; even my Green-cheek seems loud on some days (lol). People who share their lives with feathered-ones are bound to get bit & have some noise.... but they can also be wonderful and entertaining friends for life, too.

    Peace,

    Zerah

  • If the "nose" is blue, it is a male. If it is brown or pink, it is a female. If the budgie is young, it should have black stripes on the *top* of its head. It keeps running away cause it's probably scared. If you have some whole grain bread, feed that to it.

  • Birds don't have tails. It's spelled 'tail'. Also, just keep working with it everyday for as long as you can. I've never had one not tame down and i've gotten some that were old and untame.

  • Conures aren't really known to be good talkers at all. That's not to say they dont, they just arent noted for their talking ability. We have a flock of three green cheeks and none of them talk. Then again our sun conure who is by herself says hello... All birds are different!

  • That vacuum cleaner scared the crap out me and I ran out of the room!

  • lol ur funny i like you

  • haha my bird's name is cheech so that's a funny coincidence! (almost :p)

  • My baby Nanday conure is about 4 weeks old and usualy has a loss of appetite and does not squack as much as I expected it to. Also when I pick it up, it screams mega loud! We only got it 3 days ago, Any suggestions?

  • I have a baby nanday conure which is being hand fed now. How to I tame it so when it grows up it doesnt bite or anything?

  • well you have to teach them what is exceptable and what isn't like bitting. All baby birds will go through a stage of beaking but this is not bitting this is perfectly normal. The terrible two's is a difficult time around 6 months to 1 year for conures.Teach them the no command when they try to bit but never hit your bird.Have fun with your baby.

  • you cant stop any bird from biting, it is their form of communication. However you can prevent it from being a problem biter. Problem biters bite to excess. You need to teach your bird that biting isnt an appropriate form of communication... however... they will always bite at some stage, for some reason. Dont ever expect your bird not to use its beak... its another limb to them. If you are confident, laid back and not stressy or nervous then you arent likely to create a problem biter.

  • yes conures love be the centre of the attention to there flock. That's good he knows not to bite and cute when he says be nice.

  • i love you bird i have a green cheek conure as well names Tiki she is a little over 4 years old now and ever since i can remember after about 1 year of age she has a little nippy problem not all the time just occasionally but im talking like once a day and they are good strong bites most draw blood how would i go about changing that nasty behavior?

    thank,

    Tyler

  • birds HATE to be ignored...when my green cheek bites, i lock him in his cage, and cover it with a blanket. now he says "BE NICE!" after he bites me, because he knows I'm gonna lock him up haha.

  • When your bird bites, no matter how bad it hurts, don't make a scene. The bird learns that it will get a rise out of you and it will keep doing it. Also, when you get bit put the bird in it's cage, and don't pet it anymore. It will soon learn that biting is negative behavior. I had a Green Cheek that never outgrew it's nippy stage, but thankfully he learned not to bite hard enough to draw blood! Every Green Cheek I've ever met seems to have a chip on his shoulder. Must be a conure thing.

  • i've got a conure called chichi!!! identical too! he's a little bugger! but we all love him...hehe.

  • most little conures are little terriors they are feisty playful and then lovable kind of Dr.Jeckle and Mr.Hyde.

  • That's exactly right!!! Mine get cranky so i leave them then 2 minutes later they want cuddles again.

  • I have a little dusky headed conure named Pippin, he's about 5

  • dusky's are a very nice conure

  • i dunno my sun conures to stuipid too talk

  • ever bird is diffrent some day you may get a surprise

  • episodeuploader:

spell STUPID right if you leave a comment like that!

  • are female conures better talkers than the males?

  • know both are fairly equal in there talking abilities.

  • never to old just may take a bit more time thats all.

  • My Green cheek is 1 year old, is she to old to learn this stuff?

  • yes it is all my birds are like that we have strong bonds they will trust you where ever you take them.I'm working on her potty training right now she is doing great too.

  • That is AMAZING! If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't believe it. A conure sitting on a hand held vacuum (usually a birdy nemesis). Chi Chi is such a sweetheart!
