  • 3:59 killing the mood ...bastard

  • Go on. Guess my surname. It's not hard.

  • I was at a wake like that before

  • Ronnie, is a fucking legend!!! scared me at first when I heard them as a kid. make's me proud to be part irish :)

  • fuck man, could you play anymore cliche fucking irishsongs?? I love the Dubliners, luke, liam all of em but play some better tunes from the dubs!

  • @LedSledJoe You're the one who played it...

  • @LedSledJoe Cliche? This is as standard as Rocky Road to Dublin and Whiskey in a Jar.

  • @LedSledJoe. These are The Dubliners. They sing traditional Irish songs and English sea shanties and folk songs. It's what they do!

If you went to a site playing Beatles' songs, would you complain that all their songs were cliches?

  • LOL at 0:04 sounds as if somebody shouts "potatos"!

  • @hhalez LMAO, they do!

  • Today I learned that I can drink as much as I want as long as I perform Irish music :D

  • Listening to this song made me realize I'm not an alcoholic..I'm just celebrating my Irish Ancestors (:

  • Please have a grand time after I am laid to rest...all crying and that is to be done before and strike up some good music afterwards and pour out a tall one for me...don't go home sad!

  • anyone knows, whats the difference between irish wedding and funeral?

at funeral, there is one less drunk :D

  • The guy in the pink was not having fun at Finnegans Wake.

  • We actually have a small restaurant called Finnigan's Wake in our town, a great little favorite.

  • 'You're out' :)

  • me and my fella are boozing! best music ever!

  • what i really h8 are plastic paddy's

  • there are 12 faggots who hate to have fun

  • Éire go bragh!

  • Hot chick at 1:42!!

  • @olivierdeswart You must have some weird fetishes..

  • @olivierdeswart which one?

  • @SuperPaddy145 L0l

  • Me and my brothers played this at our Uncles wake, of course, we switched out Finnigan with his name. So, to all those long gone, and all those soon to go, we raise our glasses!

  • What's funny is that almost no one in the audience seems to know the song. They can't even figure out by the end how long to clap during the fast bit.

  • my names finnegan. fuck yeah ireland

  • Having a party at a wake then again after the funeral is a great way to honor our dead (albeit a bit tough for immediate family members)! Celebrating life is what its all about...even when that life has sadly ended!

  • I dig

  • whats with all the full beers at the tables...blasphemy!

  • @undeadcoax i know what you mean.

  • The audience looks so square. Surely that is not the spirit of the song. They need a drop of the pure in them and a good ruffling of their petty-bourgeois feathers.

  • Great storyteller of great stories!

  • In Ireland what's the difference between a wedding and a wake?

There's one less drunk at a wake.

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz hahahahahahaha

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz tony clifton

  • 4:00 .. wake up dude!

  • The guy at 4:00 has 10 brothers .... and they all pressed the wrong button ... :( dubliners are fantastic - on cd or live they know how to play the good stuff !

  • how can anyone not love this...? it is freaking great man :)

  • wrecks my head when people leave comments just to say it aint as good as someone elses...if ya dont like this one then go watch ronnie singin it and leave comments there instead of filling up here with your poxy negativity..well thats my little rant over:)

  • Would the 2 of yous be quiet...i dont even like comparing because they are 2 totally different singers but id rate this just as highly as ronnies...gwan patsy

  • jepps...he was much better

  • Ronnie Drew was so much better singing this song

  • Gotta love The Dubliners eh! Irish music is a role model for other peoples. They should have music like this!

  • "a drop of the crathur every morn"----only the Irish and Russian have a spiritual relationship with booze, with al cohol, the Russians have a word , zapoy, kina like a binge for nirvana purposes.....the Irish , not having the word, could relate.I know, Ive done "zapoy' thousands of time....ishkee bahe(whiskey) the water from heaven, either making it holy or making fun, vod-ka=little water,

  • The Irish speak every toungue on the planet - we;re the biggest emmigrant nation on earth

  • My mum bought me their CD when I was around 4-8 years old (I can't remember) because apparently the CD was playing in a market and I was standing there dancing to it. I recently found the CD and forgot about how much I loved their stuff, I now listen to it whenever I feel like I need cheering up. Also I love the Irish accent(: Thanks to the Dubliners for being so amazing.

  • And again! one of my favourite lyrics 'Mickey Malone ducked his head, when a bottle a whiskey flew at him'

  • if u like these and clancy brothers also check out the wolfetones. best ever!!

  • who r the 10 idiots that dont like this

  • @ItsAaaCrazySituation I think they're drunk.

  • GREAT!

  • I'm so sorry but there is one and I mean the very only one. Don't be blamed but that is Ronny Drew and not you! RIP Ronny we meet us on fiddlers green...

  • I'm from Australia and I love Irish culture ... can't wait to go there.

  • The ending is epic!

  • One of my uncles got drunk during lunch after my grandfather's funeral and it was just weird O.o

  • I looked up the lyrics online so I can understand what they were saying. After reading them, I still have no idea.

  • @mareckbamf Haha, ;)

  • to quote from fletzy44 "Shit! Tim Finnegan's dead? The bugger owed me £2.50! "

Tim owed nothing to anyone. If he had any bad debts you will have to go to NAMA, and I doubt that you will find any there. So stop putting Tim Finnegan down.

Let Tim rest in the peace that he deserves!!!

  • does anyone have a free dowloadof this song?

  • Just saw them in Århus. One of the best concerts I've been to.

  • @Tusalu i saw them in Cardiff a few month back, brilliant aren't they?

  • Amazing

  • James Joyce's book is taken from the traditional song, but the book is more introspective:tim finnegan is really dead.the whiskey is just like an element that give him again life and so the book show the cycles of life:the "wake" for finnegan is the death and the finnegan's wake is the resurrection.

  • Wat does Finnegan's Wake mean??? why does it sound like a work of James Joyce???

  • @aamitrann A man named Tim Finnegan gets drunk one night. The next day he is hung over and falls off a ladder and knocks himself out. His family and friends find him and bring him home, thinking he is dead. They lay him on a bed for his 'wake', a custom where the dead body is laid out for friends and family to see, followed by a party in celebration of the dead person's life. In the middle of the wake he wakes up and they celebrate because he is alive.

  • @OfficialArmonist : wow, so detailed! thanx!

  • Why did I not discover these guys sooner? It started with the Dropkick Murphys, and I learned of the Dubliners.

  • @jpd782 If you like them, try the Clancy Brothers. They're fantastic when it comes to the traditional songs as well.

  • @Swamprat225 It's funny you say that. I came across the Clancy brothers just last week. Great stuff as well.

  • Great!!

  • wasn't it the truth i told ya, lots of fun at finnegans wake!

  • Don't know a thing about callic, but always wanted to go visit the land of my ancestors -- Ireland. My name's John French and my stage name is Drumbo -- which, I believe, is a town in Ireland.

  • He He this is Awesome, makes me proud to be Irish, Good Crack Good people, it all went wrong with the Celtic Tiger, we have lost our Identity now sob sob

  • think personly the reason we have all this is because a consequence of being poor for so long we had to entertain our selfs. people want entertainment if they can't afford to go out every other night they'll slip in to old ways. if its not happening in your own circle, then give it a little nudge. belt out a song and someone will join in. don't be shy people are clearly into it the visits irish music get on youtube

  • Im not saying anything and i dont know if i should say anything but every american ive spoken to online say there irish Now think of the population of america and some it up with the irish population just doesnt add up

  • it´s quite simple actually.

America is a very young country, without any real history (apart from the genecide that "gave" then the land).

So it is a common thing that the american people cling to what little history they have. For most, that means there non-american ancestry. And it is very common for americans to have irish roots.

  • You have to understand, the vast majority of our land was bought from the french, or won from the British. And very few Americans can claim true Irish ancestry, about 3% of the populations, many try because it is the better of the ancestrys you can claim

  • So America was originally french/british?

    How ignorent can you be?

Before they came, the native population (what you call Indians) had been there for thousands of years.

The land was stolen from them. Trying to sugar cote it, just makes you look stupid.

When we found the continent, (approx 500 years before Columbus), we traded with the natives, and then went home.

You people should have done the same.

  • No, the English and French were the first to establish successfull colonies, many historical accounts Pin the French/British as doing some pretty bad shit, I belive the first Eurpeans to find continent were the Norsh, and they all died. If you going to try and fool people, dont try it with a History teaching minor

  • If you know as much about history, as you claim, you should know, that "Norch" or Norse as is the correct english name, is the word used about all of Scandinavia, during what is commonly known as the viking age.

I am from Denmark (the dominant Scandinavian country at the time), so I can assure you that I know what I am talking about.

Don't try to teach a Dane about his own history.

We put an honor in keeping our history and traditions alive, and study these things from an early age.

  • I misstyped a word, big deal. You keep changing the subject. I was emmersed in Irish and American history from a very, very young age, you were not

  • YOU'RE WELCOME DUDE!!!!!!!!!!

  • the dominant scandinavian country?

as much as you might know, isnt that a bit exagerated?

Norway can keep up with Denmark anytime id say

  • hmmm Norway :D

I played a Norwegian piece once, very lyrical. ♥

  • maybe is not my problem, but the first european country who established colonies in America was mine, Spain...

by the way very nice song

    God save Eire!!!

  • тупой дубил

  • тупой дебил

  • Srry m8, I dont speak galic

  • man my family came from ireland to the us in 1718 and this group makes me proud to be an american with an irish past.

  • Yeah the Irish are the best. I lived in Germany for a few years and my two best mates over there were Irish. One of em' played this song on me for Guitar and i loved it! :D :D Been hooked ever since

  • haha i found that the irish are some pretty friendly people

  • I hate to stereotype, but I always find cultural differences to be interesting. The Irish I find fascinating for their rich festivities, in spite of all the war and famine they suffer through.

  • aye dude don't worry 'bout it, i honestly think that most of the things aren't true about the irish, and for me the part about americans is true, i don't speak as a nation only as an individual

  • There are a lot of traditions like this. We talked about this in my Jewish-American Lit class. There's a song by Dolly Parton called "We Irish" that sums it up pretty well: "We Irish love to sing We Irish love to dance We Irish love to party Whener' we get the chance We have a lot of troubles But we have a lot of soul We'll drink a pint of Guinness And forget about our woes. Aie-aie, we Irish are the best!" I'm proud to be an Irish-American. =)
  • I would argue that rich festivities are from War and Famine, rather that in spite of. Not to celebrate them, but to celebrate the good times they have

When times are hard, what can you do but party? Laugh in the face of adversity!

  • another proof that people Serbian and Irish are alike in so much ways :)

  • Finnegans wake is one hell of a book to read. Luckily the song is nicer =)

  • I grew up with this song. I'm American surprisingly but my father would take me to the pub to listin to a man singing irish songs every week. I used to go up to the man and request the song and put a tip in the jar.

  • What do the crowd shout right at the end.

    i can't make it out

  • How is your auld one gameball!!

  • hey thanks a lot

    great help

  • Drink up! :P Jokes
