I wonder how you get any work done other than using the vid camera, but seriously I've watched several of your vids now and can't seem to catch the part where you are getting these lenses. Are you making them?
Way to go Dan! Make her cook! Why don't women wear watches? Cause they're on the stove already! Why do women have little feet? So they can stand closer to the stove!
this is fun way of cooking...wearing goggles!??? why not collect all sun's radiation from a focal point of that big lens and transfer to a some sort of "ceramic optic tubes" , so it could guide the collected suns radiation to anywhere most convenient to users
Hey love the video. Is there a way to use the heat from below like a conventional stove( I did see this in a documentary in India). You have greater control over the heat plus it would be safer for your eyes and skin(I was worried about Denise not wearing any safety gloves for the experiment). Perhaps reflected up with a mirror and some sort of heat sink, like a metal hot plate to spread head evenly and protect you. Keep up the good work!
That fish DOES look delicious!! Could u have used a couple of prisms to direct that light to the underside of he pan rather than on top of it? would have made it easier to use, or would too much energy have been lost?
Having camping experience, I would have to say for a noon meal, this would probably be the fastest way to cook fish on a camping trip - far faster than taking the time to look for wood to burn. Not so good for evenings or cloudy days.
This would be a good way to routinely cook noon meals in a sunny climate for those wishing to make a difference in the environment. Are those fresnel lenses flexible?
Great Videos Guys!! thanks for all the inspiration. I want to play with a Fresnel Lens! I think I would just burn crazy stuff or make some sort of Ant Death Ray... also could make a dog scat furnace to take care of all the doggie doo in my yard! nice!!
you obviously cannot cook and the fish does not really look great in the pieces but the video and idea itself is great I love you other videos and personally that is the right way to go.Greetings from Ireland

Would if be possible to get a gallon of oil hot enough to deep fry using that lens?
Also, as someone else said, olive oil actually has a pretty low smoke point, if you want a high smoke point you should use peanut oil.
EVMANVSGAS 8 months ago
Thats great, but I don't know why use that much of oil.... I wanna go green and healthy! Lol
falecomjorge 9 months ago
Great!
(By the way, you dont have to keep the pan on the fire all times. You should remove the pan to control temperature, flip the fish, etc etc)

A very good example of how our natural resources can be harnessed. Of course this could be utilized in many different ways.
Tp:rub the oil on the fish and dredge it in cajun seasoning ...burn and turn... your done.

Why not use a mirror and heat a plate under the cocking pot?
The only problem is maybe that the mirror is loosing some energy.
p.s.: I was able to see both videos and I am from Europe.

I really like this idea. I'm thinking that having one of these out in my pool area would be really cool.
Ever try using a little smaller lens?
I mean, having the high temp quickly is nice, but when I'm cooking I don't really mind taking my time and it might be a little safer. Maybe?

Unfortunately, when I tried to cook this way, I did poop myself after swallowing a big chard.
