I like what he is saying. But I was expecting someone with a stationary bicycle hooked up to batteries for his solar go-cart on cloudy days. Where is that video?
Alan brought up some great points about the PR of the sustainability movement that rarely, if ever, get mentioned. I'm in Alan's demographic and want to support every effort being made out there to propagate sustainable environmental policies, tax and otherwise. While we all want a healthier ecology, I find myself turned-off by the marriage of great environmental ideas with undesirable and, from my view, unrelated so-called "social justice" issues openly hostile to my demographic.
At least a view of life like his is evolving more and more,so i'm happy about that, appreciating the growing company of interdependent connected freedomlovers.
Thanx to the internet we can connect our minds to change the world through a healingsome motivated attitude, more than any kind of activism.
I hope we'll take care of our awareness and common needs before we try to change the environment, otherwise we're just blind people with good intentions on the edge of a high rock.
This guy is great. I immediately listened more closely when he said, "This is only my perspective. It's not the 'truth' or 'reality'. It's just my perspective." There's so much dogma out there. I'm far more likely to trust someone who isn't selling me "The Truth". Nevertheless he is not ambivalent: he is clearly committed to the power of co-operative vision.
I love the summary he presents from 16:OO - 16:4O.
he makes a good point-- people should refrain from judging others. For instance, those who drive gas guzzlers, might be doing so because they have no other means of transport, cannot use buses, or bikes; and are too poor to buy anything at that time. also maybe their old cars are the kind you can repair easily/ cheaply because they have no computerized parts. So beware of hating poor people who are not currently able to participate in some of the cutting edge tech and gas saving cars etc.

what is this madness, tax everyone after two chilren? How would that help? Most developed countries have a birth rate that is so low they have to "import" the workforce!
If you can provide for your own children you should be able to have as many as you want to. Govermental regulation has put us in the mess we are in today, does anyone think they can solve the problems of the future?
some good and needed ideas, but, i must defer. we are not exactly "as god" unless we are perfect. we are each one little molecule of the image of God on this earth, put us all together and make the whole image that shows all the good. but we have to get into perfect individual form in the meantime, or things are out of sync....that is what Jesus came to give us, personal spiritual transformation....God = Good, in old english....
This is exactly what I believe; he speaks such truth. Also he is young like me so I don't feel like its a old-folks thing (not like thats a bad thing)
Thank you Alan for so clearly articulating much of what I have been processing and intuitively know to be important in our journey towards a regenerative society.
anger usualy motivates the whole of society to get behind somthing all together.next to that the best examples of men getting everyone on the same page was jesus and mohamed.
What an amazing video - of all the great Peak Moment video's I've seen, this one really resonates with me. The depth and clarity of the topics covered, unearthed new and different ways of thinking - well done!
I'm 35 as well and I learned allot from him. I own my own EV car and design company here in Japan but I have to admit I think and have in the past been much the same as what he is speaking of.

@areyouserial, can you say more about which "social justice" issues you'd separate out from environmental sustainability issues? ~Janaia

fear IS the greates motivator there is. It motivates us daily in all parts of our lives!
Axbent 1 year ago
@Axbent I agree! Fear IS a great motivator. In addition to that, do you think we can _also_ CHOOSE _other_ motivators?
bodhifreak 1 year ago
@bodhifreak of course!, its just a matter af awareness! But fear is the primary choice tool we have by default.

I just watched and re-watched this whole video. Where is taxing people after two children mentioned? I couldn't find it.

correction, even if we were perfect, we would still be subordinate to God the Creator.

Finally a rational opinion on the issues that surround us. The environmental/sustainability movement needs more people like Alan Seid.

Watch again at 10:10 , and money never will be the answer.
I feel western culture will need to slow down and consume locally, but in time which is sad.
The only thing to do I think, is the right thing, and be proud of it, spread it like talk about Jesus or Mohamed.
