They racked up the huge deficit we currently have by borrowing for years and years before the financial crisis despite the economy growing. The structural deficit is one of the reasons we have to cut public spending throughout this parliament. As Labour hold some responsibility for this, we should absolutely keep blaming them. Remember, Labour never miss an opportunity to blame Thatcher for everything.

Also considering they opposed the 50p tax rate it is quite likely we would have an even higher deficit. Also throughout the last government, the Tories were asking for regulation of the banks. As the financial crisis was due largely to unregulated capitalism, we would probably be in an even larger mess than we are now

The Eurozone is an example of why the coalition is on the right track. Countries are getting punished for having an inefficient deficit reduction plan. We do, hence why we're out of the danger zone. In May 2010 before coalition got in, we were on NEGATIVE, we now AAA+ credit rating, thanks to coalition.

@MrHarrylime79 Correct me if I'm wrong, but she didn't start the Falklands, did she? And I can think of few things she did wrong in that war (besides, arguably, the Belgrano & Goose Green...)
And the whole arms dealing thing makes her little different to most of our Western leaders - playing Jack Pallance in the movie 'Shane' (to quote Bill Hicks).

I can understand how you would see it differently having fought there, but there was more at stake than Thatcher's ego - the Argentinian Junta were evil f*ckheads who used to chuck their prisoners out of aircraft flying over the South Atlantic to an Icy death.
There were also hundreds of widows walking the streets of Buenos Aires owing to the villainous brutality of Argentina.

@tdp1909 Pinochet's henchmen were at least as bad though Pinochet was considered a friend by Thatch!! & Mandela she said was a terrorist!! her judgement highly questionable!! the Falklands debacle could have had a negotiated ending but Thatch needed to rally the country to get her re-elected!!

Terrorism is an odd one - I remember Reagan calling the Afghans "Freedom Fighters" & often politics makes weird (if not bad) bed fellows.
Falklands would have been very difficult to negotiate & would have seemed like capitulation. Even Michael Foot (Labour leader & pacifist) was in agreement that Thatcher had done all she could to prevent war...

Chile's rate of growth was 0.1%/ year before he took power & 3% after (owing to his allowing Milton Friedman & the Chicago economists to fix the economy). Chile also now has South America's highest savings r8. He also willingly left power by bringing about democratic elections.
Evil, but more in the mold of Ataturk than Hitler...
