yeah it took me a few runs through season 1 to catch that little glimpse of amusement Eddard gives Arya's giggle cus he realizes what we r all thinking when we hear it the way it sounds is the way it is..
You know I finally realized the kid playing Joffrey was a great actor when I was watching Batman Begins. He is in the movie and I was thinking aww what a nice little kid but he looks familiar for some reason. Then it hit me close to the end. "Son of a bitch that's Joffrey! I hate that little bastard!" I stopped and said "Wow maybe he is a good actor after all."
Arya is more cute when she smile at Bran's outburst when she shot better with the bow than him. (although in the book she said she want to learn the usage of the bow which means she can't use it).
:'( this is the best series ever... in the world... i mean it... i didnt get the ending of the last book tho. it didnt really sum anything up... is there going to be another??
If you read the books Sansa's childish young love is much more understood with the fact the character was written as an 11yr old. In the show though the ages didn't really pan out. Almost impossible to believe Robb, a boy of 14, could raise an army to take on the Kingslayer and Tywin Lannister, the most powerful men in the 7 Kingdoms. It made more sense to make the children all older for the show. Infact it's one of few regrets George R.R. Martin himself has stated in interviews.
@xGerdine I want to feel sorry for Sansa so badly, but I can't. In today's world, she'd just be a ditz. Arya, on the other hand, is seven levels of awesome.
Poor sansa i´m reading the second book and i hate her to death... maybe not so much on the second one, but when he was in love with joffrey I wanted to get inside the pages and rip her eyes :-)
@LINKchris87 lol omg, yes. i would get so mad at her during those times in the story. but you have to look at her situation, ya know? not a lot of options. so i forgave her most of the time, because she was holding on to hope and at that time in the story it looks like she has chance to survive all of that. keep reading, her character evolution is very interesting ;)
@lazar14 Because these books are such well written books and many of the characters you can't help liking a lot. For example, Arya Stark is a great character who you just can't help liking but she dies, unfortunately.
@jakus789 SPOILER ALERT! The state thus far of Arya Stark, at the end of book five, is alive. I know that some people get to a certain part of book three and just give up because too many people have died in a short time and their poor little hearts can't take it, but soldier on, because Arya only got struck in the head with the broad side of the axe, with little damage.
@83croissant Oh my God, when I read that Arya chapter in Storm of Swords I nearly threw my book across the room, but then it got better a few chapters later. GRRM is a magnificent bastard, to say the least.
@DCRunner27 I made the mistake of getting attached to lots of my favorite characters, like Arya and Robb. I'm now in the middle of Storm of Swords and I was like "NOOOOO!!!"
I actually love Sansa. Yes, at first she is clueless and naive. But she grows up a lot and becomes a very interesting character. I felt so bad for her in book one!
@deBebbler Exactly!! There was another scene when he was carrying that old book and came upon her balancing on a stairwell. She said something, and he turned away beaming, almost trying to stifle his wonder and pride for such a girl. I also liked their exchange regarding her new sword: "Stick 'em with the pointy end?" "Aye, that's the essence of it..."
I actually don't dislike Sansa, I kinda feel sorry for her. She's so naive, hopped up on her songs and her stories of chivalrous knights. I always kinda find it ironic how she gets all excited when she meets a well known knight like Loras when probably the greatest hero of the seven kingdoms in living memory is her father though.
So much Sansa hate. She's 11, people! Weren't you dreaming of fairy tales at the time? Her personality parallels that of Ned that they share the same naivety and mindset that everyone is good at heart and will make the noble choice. It’s this trust and idealism that ends up being their downfall. She has so much hope and she only wants to do what is right for a lady in her time. Her story is so heartbreaking to me because reality comes crashing down on her in the most traumatic way possible.
I really can't stand Sansa, but that's how I felt about Daenarys in the first episode. I'm hoping for a good character arc in the later books. Keep in mind, she's supposed to be about 13 and raised on fairy tales.

@UnionLords: Catelyn is wise, but the Lannister are his "kryptonite", every time she is in the same room with a Lannister, she do something stupid ....
Cat : Agreed but Jaime ?? I'm not sure what you mean exactly.
If you mean the war and all, What else would have he done ??
He is a soldier and (more or less) a family man, who does the duty bestowed upon him, by siding with his father and goes to war with an army of The House. Any son on the Westeros would have done the same
And if you mean the incest... It is pretty much Cersei who should take the blame. Just remember Lancel and you got the point. This is her "thing"
Who else thinks that Sansa should have been cast younger? It's not the actress' fault, it's just I can't see a 15 year old girl whining like that. She's like 11 or 12 in the books, which makes a lot more sense if you think about immaturity, hormones, infatuations, etc. It's just out of place.
@gilgalad72 You must have never had a teenage sister. Believe me, they're just as whiny. Also putting and actual 11 year old would have required Arya being even younger. There's a certain point in which you can find decent actors.
@kelrod621 I think it's a mix of the quality you need, and the time constraints. Finding suitable actors for all the stark children would have taken a very long time. Easier to just make them all older, yeah? :)
@gilgalad72 Granted, with all the nudity and sex in the series they made the cast older. Remember, Dany was 13 in the book while in the tv show she is definitely in her 20's. It wouldn't have went well if they kept the proper age.
@HysteriaxAlice do you think she's actually supposed to be in her 20s in the show though? I thought maybe she was just meant to be mid to late teens, since that's kindof a normal age for betrothal and Jon and Robb are both only 16ish and it seems like they're all the same age since Dany was a baby when her father died, and when Jon and Robb were born.
@gilgalad72 True, but I think they had to up all or most of the characters' ages a bit. Otherwise some of the love scenes would have been too much for viewers to stomach. Daenerys and Drogo, for example. Daenerys is only 13 in the first book.
Welll you can just use the excuse that's shes spoiled? Alot of the characters here are much older than they should be... I think it's for well... let's just say that Khal Drogo and a 13 year old Dany wouldn't work out so well... also Robb being 14 and lord of Winterfell... it's ludicrous on film :-)
@gilgalad72 I think they make tis because, if she was cast younger, she would look as old as Arya, and since Sansa is the older sister, they wanted to show it. Well, that's what I think.
yeah it took me a few runs through season 1 to catch that little glimpse of amusement Eddard gives Arya's giggle cus he realizes what we r all thinking when we hear it the way it sounds is the way it is..

In the Show She is 13, In the Book She 11.

@gilgalad72 I see tons of 15 year olds whining like this. I go to highschool, its kind of annoying. Ok, REALLY annoying.

@gilgalad72 Granted, with all the nudity and sex in the series they made the cast older. Remember, Dany was 13 in the book while in the tv show she is definitely in her 20's. It wouldn't have went well if they kept the proper age.
HysteriaxAlice 1 month ago 3
@HysteriaxAlice do you think she's actually supposed to be in her 20s in the show though? I thought maybe she was just meant to be mid to late teens, since that's kindof a normal age for betrothal and Jon and Robb are both only 16ish and it seems like they're all the same age since Dany was a baby when her father died, and when Jon and Robb were born.

@pradawallflower In the books she's only 12

@zemoyerz 13, yeah. In the show they added a couple of years to everyone's ages though/

@gilgalad72 You can't see a 15 year old girl whinning like that? Really? I think got it right for TV when they aged them.

@gilgalad72 uhh... have you ever met a spoiled chick? They can be late 20's and still whine and complain like that. It's pretty easy to believe.
