  • "Jay Black" aka/David Blatt was a fabulous lead voice for Jay & the Americans, but let's not forget "Jay Traynor" aka/John Traynor the original lead voice for Jay & the Americans when they sang 'She Cried', 'Tonight'. I was fortunate enough to buy a ticket to see the new incarnation of Jay & the Americans w/David Blatt aka/"Jay Black" on lead at NYC's Town Hall in early 1960's ... the performance was awesome especially with the introduction of their new song, 'Cara Mia' which required 2 encores

  • absolutely fantastic. as good as ever, he sure can sing

  • Close your eyes, take a deep breath and you are young once more......Jay is wonderful. Now that is when music was great...I love this song.

  • He's still bloody great. Ahhh - the good old days the great old songs ........Bob c.

  • There is only one Jay Black and this is him. Why isn't this guy in the rock and roll hall of fame already?

  • Is it my imagination or does has his voice actually improved? I heard him when the doo wop shows were on PBS and I don't think he sounded this good, and that was some years ago. Simply an amazing voice! Thanks for posting.

  • Dayammm!! He can still hit those notes! I was way in love with this guy back when...

  • Belle version, et les gars derrière aux voix excellents, des vrais Americans

  • Now that I've found him, I listen to Jay at least once a day! Yes, he gets better with age. I am a year younger than Jay, and to me he is still a heartthrob. San Antonio would probably make it worth his while to come here. How I wish I could see him in person. It's on my bucket list.

  • Would you believe this guy still hasn't been elected to the rock and roll hall of fame? He is long overdue.

  • Hey skid Row...Lets see what you look like at 73....He looks dam good & still holds the notes! God bless you Jay! Long Island loves ya!

  • As far as age and weight, the same thing is going to happen to you. But I don't think you will have a voice like his when you reach that age. Food for thought.

  • The amazing Jay Black.....and he'll keep hitting the high notes to the end of time!! WOW!!!!

  • That voice hasnt changed since the original recording of the beautiful (sadly short) song. AMAZING!! Brings tears to mine (& my mom's) eyes!

  • @HandwhistlerBen ...that is all wrong.....you've got things totally mixed up...do your research. Jay Black didn't do that.....3 of the originls members did that....they bought the name and hired a new Jay #3. Jay Black has NOTHING to do with them....

  • He sounded better here than he did 10 years ago at Krutgers, well done...

  • I would LOVE to hear a video of the haters posting on here, singing this song, LOL

  • Un f%$#%-ing believable!! He's better now!!!!! What a voice!! Please come to Providence!!!!

  • @overbrookXXX Your pic first asshole. hahahahahaha

  • Still has that great powerful voice.

  • Boy has that guy aged, and put on weight! Gross.

  • @SkidRowJosephine And how do you suppose you'll look and sound at 70? Just to let you know, John Gotti was his best friend and he has connections. Seriously.

  • @SkidRowJosephine I see you judge people by their weight and age i guess you must be perfect in every way'

  • People get jealous... Jay and Gary Puckett in Red Bank NJ next month, and I've got seats. They are awesome live

  • He's still got it!!

  • He holds that note longer than he did on the original version in 1965. I love it when he looks at his watch!

  • Jay still has a pretty damn good voice, even at 72. I just wish he would make some appearances in the Houston area.

  • absolutely fabulous

  • greattttttttttttttt

  • WOW one of my favorites sung by a guy who cares about the old times he still gets the audience up before and after he gets on stage.

With the possible exception of Kathy Young who still gets it on with "A thound stars" Jay gets the job done.

  • Jay's looking in great shape, and voice better than ever. When is he coming to the UK?

  • Sinatra told Jay he'll never sing that song after 40. Well, Jay's 72 now and still going strong. Sinatra must have been talking about the prostrate because the voice is still there. Great job Jay, impressive to say the least. 10 stars with 5 being perfect.

  • I saw this last night and was blown away. Jay still has it. Notice how he holds notes, he doesn't have to bend them .
