According to Monckton, we have 2 choices, Oil or Horses and Carts. Its a false choice. There are electric and biofuel options. Generating electricity through nuclear, wind and solar power has historically shown to be much safer than oil consumption. According to Monckton, we have 2 choices, Oil or Horses and Carts. Its a false choice. There are electric and biofuel options. Generating electricity through nuclear, wind and solar power has historically shown to be much safer than oil consumption. Consider that there hasn't been a ecologically damaging nuclear accident in over 25 years. Wind and solar have a clean track record. What a pathetic shill.

Yes, eventually, we will be able to use nuclear power to recharge our electric car batteries, but we will still have a certain amount of greenies who will object to developing nuclear. This progressive switch to renewable energy away from fossil fuels will take decades, not just a few years.

While this is correct, nuclear, wind and solar are WAY more environmentally friendly than coal or oil, even if you exclude the effects of global warming which Monckton clearly dismisses. Burning coal spews out sulfur emissions that cause acid rain, and oil spills cause... well you know.

@MRaverz The idiot addressed the issue of electric cars. His error was that the bicycle had already displaced the horse, even for hauling fairly heavy loads, well before the mass take up of automotive power.
The problem with a horse isn't so much the poop, but where the poop comes from. A horse needs to be constantly cared for and fed, even when you are not using it. A bicycle does not.

Notably, it was the Green movement that forced oil companies to drill a long way offshore, and force America's legislation to follow that. California has billions of barrels available that can be safely accessed from shore, but the Greens didn't want that and forced deep drilling.
This spill is the direct result of the Green movement where no technological precedent exists to control it in such deep environments.

Yes biofuels exist but they require large amount of land in order to grow the crops and considering that we need food more it is difficult if not impossibe to run all cars off of biofuels. The only fuel source that could properly replace fossil fuels in combuction engines without huge shortages is hydrogen. If we are able to perfect the technology and build the infrastructure it would work but other than that we need fossil fuels.
