  • humans are so weird

  • Very beautiful larynx!

  • cool, just like blowing grass between your thumbs

  • Pretty cool. You should have tried death metal grunting. I'd be curious to see what that looks like opposed to regular speech.

  • Now put a camera in Corey Taylor's throat

  • @MrNightHawke i think only me here know what are u talking about...lol

  • That was cute!

  • xDD OMG that superfunny ... nuclear rofl

  • Thank you this is amazing video, can you get a person who do not speak to see their vocal cords? what is missing or why they cant talk?

  • did u swalloed the camera?

    o.0

  • Wow! it makes me regret my choice to change my career, I wanted to go in health, but I changed for video game making...

  • @reivaxown It's never too late! A video game of the larynx would be cool. . . :)

  • good vibrato at the end

  • Yes that's the voice box, it's called the larynx. It's kinda at the bottom of your throat

  • @ripazha1337 learn how to spell learned :)

  • wow!

  • how did u film that

  • Once we learned about this in music and what they do is they stick a long stick like object in the back of your throat and it had a mini camera at the end of it. It makes me wonder what they'll think of next.

  • @smashwatermelons he opened REALLY wide

  • @smashwatermelons

    ENDOSCOPY, DURRR!!!

  • is that light pink thing part of ur body or some plastic thing n hooww on earth did u film that

  • @TheCassCass nah, that is part of your body.

  • hahahahah!!sooo funny!!and interesting!!and educational!!!tank you!!

  • very cool, how is the camera positioned?

  • A very small camera on a thin chord put down his throat through his nose.

  • cool

  • cool

  • cool

  • cool

  • cool

  • cool!

  • cool...

  • cool

  • cool :D

  • the internet never ceases to amaze me, from time to time

  • wow that 's cool, to see what a throat actually looks like inside

  • You know what would have made this really funny if you had added music to it, lol. But then, maybe it would have taken from the skillful narration :)

  • haha :D that's funny^^ hello! i'm a voice box! xD

    pretty amazing thing...

  • no. Your vocal cords stop food going into your wind pipe, and send it down your gullet instead

  • no, your vocal cords are only to do with the production of sound, it is the covering of the trachea by the epiglottis that prevents food from entering. Food mostly passes either side of the epiglottis in the recesses either side of the laryngopharynx

  • don't know why you were low-rated.... your explanation sounds more realistic, lol

  • haha, it is correct though i can assure you

  • Ok, I believe ya.

  • Actually, you are both right! The vocal folds and the ventricular folds (AKA false folds) both close to create 2 seals, and the epiglottis lays itself over top of both of them. Then the whole structure elevates and tucks under the jaw a little to make the entry to the airway even more protected.

  • hurrah! I was half right :) (or 1/3, depending on how you look at it :p)

  • @katedevore where are the false cords in this video?

  • cool!!!

  • haha, that's cool!

at first i thought the larynx was repulsive, but i'm getting a little more use to the idea of me having one ^.^

  • if you find it repulsive, don't watch videos of it, lol.

  • Admire your creativity. Good job.

  • is there a way to become a good singer

  • a lot of practice, and study of how the voice works.

  • lol he can talk cleanly cos the tube goes up into the nasal cavity

  • That's amazing that such an organ can be used produce all sorts of wonderful things like singing and talking. Yes, it might look a bit gross and yet the sound that this organ produces is very clean and nice. Amazing, simply amazing!

  • hahahaha

  • yeh i wish we did stuff like this is biology

  • AND I wish science videos in class were as great as this one.

  • holy moley im never talking again!

  • how da hell did you talk so perfect with tha tube thing in ur mouth that looks at your vocals????

  • it goes down his nose; there's still room for him to breath; he's in the oropharynx (not the trachea), which has quite a bit of room

  • O_O! Umm.. Im not dumb but.. Where are your vocal cords are they in the throat O_O! and umm wierd!

  • Holy macaroni and cheese!

  • Lol it's funny when he says hello i havent had visitors in along time lol it realy looks like it's talking

  • O_O

  • hahaha, thats so sweet. i wish i had one of those endoscopes. i'd do this all the time. lol

  • The human body is really amazing if you think about it

  • how did you get the video

  • We used a three-chip endoscopic camera. Meaning a little tube with a fiberoptic camera in it went through his nose, and we digitally recorded it. Physicians and speech pathologists use this tool to see the area well enough to make accurate diagnoses.

  • Thats cool i need to get one of those

  • lol

  • cool

  • Thats gross but cool!

  • I wish to see the cords making whistle register... somebody have seen it??

  • I think you havent understood me... a great and spectacullar voice can made whistle register WITH THE CORDALS VOWELS... Mariah Carey, Withney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Mayre Martinez, Leona Lewis, etc... sorry for my english, I'm from Vnezuela!

  • yah i did misunderstand, its not ur english.

  • Errr no it isn't. Its made from clasping your vocals together and leaving a tiniest of slit like space between them. The escaping air between them creates the whistle register.

  • The whistle does not come from the vocal folds, it is an extra layer of tissue around it, that some people are born with and others develop by exhaling with the throat closed, therefore causing pressure. Sometimes whistle register can be achieved from the lower register causing a different resonance.

  • the whistle register is created when the glottal fry, which usually just kind of..flaps.., is held together like someone's pursed lips.. This much i know for certain tho i have a theory it can work the same way with the part of your throat when your normal chest voice is created..

  • yes because I've seen people achieve it from low chest voice, when it is attempted from high chest voice it is a scream, and when it is continued from head voice it sounds full like christina aguilera's. I can't explain how mariah's whistles are though because they are airy and I haven't heard anyone do it like her before.

  • i'm almost 100% you can't whistle with your head voice. glottal and maybe chest

  • Hi all - A bunch of people have asked, so I thought I'd let you know there are a couple more clips (and longer DVDs) at LoveYourVoice dot com - Thanks!

  • is that big flap before the voice box the thing that blocks the air passage when you swallow? I've touched this flap with my finger before. I hope thats not a bad thing

  • yep- the epiglottis.

  • Interesting!

  • as a speech geek, I must say that is AWESOME!!! Thanks for helping me study for my anatomy exam!

  • lol, u mean procrastinate before it :P

  • no, it really helped me to get a visual picture of what laryngeal structures are where and what they look like on a human rather than a plastic model!

  • This is very useful for teaching. Do you have any more footage on other vowels or going into falsetto? Most interesting thanks.
