  • No, it is not comparable with win 7, because they have nothing to do with each other. I have no idea whether or not it's compatible with win 7, though. It may be compatible. That's different.

  • i can't install the software. it keeps saying "Your computers operating system is not supported for use with Fast track pro at this time". i've installed the proper driver for this and restarted my laptop multiple times. I am using an HP Laptop with Windows 7 64 bit. Can someone please help me? :(

  • @OfficialJMars I Had the same problem but in M-Audio's official website is the solution.

you can find it under Support -> Drivers & Updates

  • @OfficialJMars Not comparable with win 7 . Read the instructions on the box.

  • @morgansito damn. the guy at the music store said it was. thanks bro

  • this thing really isnt very good, ive had alot of experience with these and was not very happy with it

  • @pchurk

after using this interface I bought my Virus TI and used the built it audio interface that comes with it and I was really impressed by the difference Virus TI DID make. and yesterday I got mind blown when I upgraded my interface from virus to RME Fireface 400! So yeah, M-Audio is not really good IMO either when it comes to pro recording and mixing!

  • very good presentation! :) is a great product, wich could be the best and easyer software to use with it to record? thank you

  • So I looked up "line level" online and read aboutsigal strength, blah blah. But what the hell actually goes into the line level input? They look like something to plug a playstation into....

  • @SuperChicanorap open another track and use one as left input and the other as right. i think.

  • I heard some people are having problem making this work on Window 7? Any success Win 7 user out there?

  • Is it good for making beats on reason 5 ????????,

  • i was very excited... until I heard usb 1.1... FUCK YOU M-AUDIO FUCK YOUU!!!!

  • Im not exactly sure why people are giving it bad comments I own one of these and so does my friends and the quality is really good especially after editing on cool edit pro , some people just dont know how to bring the best out of there software/hardware , its pretty sad , I can just imagine if I had better software.

  • @WickedIllnessFilms hey im usin this interface with cool edit pro also you think you can give me some tips on how you mix your music on cool edit pro?

  • MA-AUDIO ARE VERY BAD

  • @corporacionmonstruo explain !

  • @randomvidz94 unstable,1.1,bad sound,cheap preamps

  • Do I hear the salesman apologizingly say 'USB 1.1!' Isn't USB 2.0 a standard since a decade or so? I dunno man..

  • @meknatronik are you talking in general about M-audio products or this specific model (fast track pro) .. if yes did you own one and found the problems you're mentioning ?

  • my fastrack pro is disconecting again and again when i use any switch in my power bord. example- if i switch on fan or light in my room, then vsti is not play in this time. after restart it works properly. so iam scarry about it for live shows. plz suggest me what i will do???

  • When you record through fast track,, are you able to mute the sounds from the speakers so that you can only hear it from your headphone? If so how? I'm using pro tools 8 m-power as the software.

  • @GameBird360 Very simple, just turn the "Output" knob all the way counterclockwise. That's it. Problem solved. Next?

  • @GameBird360 that would be under preferences and drivers and output. i think.

  • midiaio~~~ midiaio~~~ midiaooooo

  • You i just brought this and i tried to use guitar rig 4 but it gives a really bad sound? its really weird.. someone please help!

  • i wonder how it does 24/96 with only the bandwidth of usb 1.1 *scratches head*

  • @dexmix im also scratching so hard my head is starting to bleed.

  • please tell me does this work with windows 7?

  • @drugdrunkker

Yes it works with both Windows and Mac OSX

  • @drugdrunkker ask at sweetwater , they have people there that will answer 24/7

they told me it does work with vista 64..if it works with that, it should work with anything...lol

  • @HackerGuitarist well I have regular M-audio Fast track interface, it works with windows vista but it shure doesn't work with windows 7

  • @drugdrunkker A friend of mine has this and it works with his computer with Windows 7.

  • it's not USB 2.0

  • how many 1/4 guitar inputs in there?

  • @Kavanaghness

There are 2 1/4 jacks and a 1/4 headphone jack

  • How well does this work? I hear firewire is better but is usb still good enough if your recording 1-2 tracks at a time?

  • Yeah, nothing is wrong with using USB mics or interfaces...

  • Comment removed

  • @Designedbydeath

USB works very well. Firewire is just apple's form of USB because they invented it and PC eventually caught on. Firewire is just faster than USB and can handle more information but USB works extremely well still

  • How is that a demo?

  • For those of you wondering about Win. 7 (32/64) I completely SKIPPED installing the CD and went straight to the website and installed from there. Worked perfect. I suggest doing the same.

  • Ok somebody please give me a hand, Do i HAVE to install the interface driver software that comes on one of the CDs in order to use it? Apparently the drivers are unsigned and im on windows 7, even after putting my laptop in test mode it still refuses to let me install unsigned drivers? ihave no clue why ive tried everything i could think of in the last 48 hours???

  • @Audiovolution hey man have you tried running the setup 'as an administrator' (in properties - compatibility)???

  • @Jimster666 yeah ive changed uac settings ive tried in test mode ive tried running setup as an administrator (even though my account is already administrator) and ive tried all the driver downloads. My laptop just really doesnt want anything to do with it

  • @Audiovolution or try downloading this beta driver for windows 7 hxxp://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.php?10187-Windows-7-Fast-Track-Pro-BETA-Driver-2.0.0

  • @Jimster666 Alright thanks man ill try it. So just for the record you run win7 and the interface is working for you?

  • @Audiovolution yeah well to get it working without glitchness i had to use aiso4all and use the normal 'aiso4all v2' as opposed to 'm-audio usb aiso' in the audio settings for my DAW. Had to fiddle about switching some things on/off in the advanced panel but it worked out in the end. Now everything works sweet. And that was with the ordinary driver from the m-audio website.

    i run win7 yes :)

    hope this helps

  • @Audiovolution Try changing UAC settings on Win7

  • What is USB 1.1 ?

  • @pablix809 USB 1.1 is an old USB standard, pretty slow and try NOT to get something using this old USB standard. (well, keyboard or mouse could be ok, but nuthing with a higher data rate). Today the most common faster standard is USB 2.0 and you can get first PCs capable of USB 3.0 which is even faster. If you have the chance, get an Firewire or even Firewire 800 Device, its faster than usb.

  • but i cant understand why this allows me to record only in mono voice left and beat right o.O

  • It's Fat bastard!

  • I returned my Pro Tools Essentials 3 days after buying it. What a piece of crap. I'll stick to my Tascam 688 that I've operated since 1990. This thing is not intuitive to use. It comes with no real instructions and it makes my new desk top computer with Windows 7 crash. There's no real thrill like spending 10 hours recording a song and then losing it all in an instant. What a piece of crap.

  • I cant install it on the Mac. It always freezes on the installer screen... How long is it suppose to take to install this? Please Help

  • any body want purchase my fast track pro contact . . . tijenderkumar@yahoo.com ph 09888542874 india

  • i have a co1u but its usb.

and i wana buy a mbox mini 2.

is there any way i can connect my co1u to an mbox??

  • Can anyone let me know if you can use a 1/4 inch to a 1/4 inch cable to connect a keyboard to this thing? I am trying to avoid using midi XLR combo input output cable. Thanks in advance.

  • Hey does anyone know if this come with phantom power? or is it the version up from this?

  • does fast track pro work with pro tools m-powered essential??

  • It's a shame they didn't utilize the slots on the sides for mounting in/ or on a rack system?

  • can someone recommend me a firewire pre amp for guitars that are compatible for mac. and not to expensive

  • USB - FTW!

  • Can anyone help me with latency problems? Running my guitar into this is fine, but when using Logic and using my midi keyboard controlling a synth, I have bad latency through logic. My keyboard is connected to mac by usb

  • I just bought this device and Im wondering if pro tools empowered 8 would work with it, can somebody answer that for me thanks.

  • It only works with Pro Tools m-powered. If you try to use LE or HD, it won't work. So, M-Powered is fine.

  • hello. i have a mbox mini2 digital. but when i moved i lost all of the cds/software. i have the condencer mic and the usb. do you know how to download protools? or what do i need to download? can you help me?

  • i have one and the only real problem i found with this thing is the pre-amp are weak as hell... i think they assume your going to be using a condenser mic and if you use a dynamic your fucked i tried to use it with an sm57 and those shit pre-amps couldn't even boost the signal to line level, i thought the fucking thing was broke... nope, just shitty pre-amps to save a few bucks.

  • i want to know how to conect it to my behringer xenyx 1204 mixer,to record my guitar and voices

  • how do i change the depth rate into 44.1KHz instead of 48KHz?

  • what's better this one or line6 ux2 ??

  • this is definitly a professional interface, line 6 is more of an amateur/beginner thing

  • Is there any new drivers for it on the m audio website you may need?

  • Nevermind I solved the problem ;) Thanks for help m8

  • I, too, am having a problem with the install. I did everything by the book, only to find that it is not compatible with Intel iMac i7 I just purchased. H-E-L-P! I downloaded what I "think" is or thought was the latest driver for the Intel iMac. Just not sure if it is installed. I'm using GarageBand and it recognizes the Fast Track Pro, but I get nothing recorded from my MXL 770 microphone. I hope someone can help me. Thanks.

  • be warned if you buy it, it will be a headache to configure and get up and running if you are using vista or windows 7

  • why?

  • @klined why

  • No its not. Only if you don't know what you're doing.

Its works super in win7 . easy to set up too.

I use it for DJing at my university

  • Hello, man this is so well played!

Is it possible to play 2 guitars at the same time, and process them differently??? (maybe guitar a with amplitube and guitar b with guitar rig)

Do you thing this interface is better than guitar rig 3 session or line 6 ux2?

    thank you man :D

  • this work with a guitar

  • does it include the software??

  • I am already using a protools mbox 2 mini and I'm thinking of switching to this because the mbox has no way to skip it's built in preamps. I'm using an outboard pre, so would switcing to this because if it's line level inputs be an upgrade from my mbox?

  • alright well i jus ordered a fast track pro and a perception 120 mic and im running on a laptop with 4 gig of ram and vista 64 bit.. is this gud 2 record with this or not? im pretty new to this i need some help =/

  • cpu power? thats important... and why you didnt choose the perception 220?

  • how do i improve cpu power? and how does that help or what? and the perception 120 sounds awsome 2

  • i just asked because the price for the 220 is not so much more... cpu speedi importend for everything you do with your pc... use the program everast to look it up...

  • howcum i hear my playbac on only mt left speaker?

  • sounds like you have recorded as mono dunno which instruments you have recorded... but use a stere prozessor as software... its in cubase and much more programs included

  • so i have to take it off mono and record on stereo or what?

  • @Javier970963 put it on mono

  • Yeah i got the same question i dont see anything for monitors to plug in. Is there any?

  • does this have outputs for speaker or monitor??sorry my ignorance!

  • will it remove static from existing tracks? how do u use this thing!? plz help

  • would my sontronics stc-2 mic work with that ?

  • people who think this suck, don't know shit.

they don't know how to make it work. is so far the best external audio interface in the market

  • thank you, totally agree!

  • @tenkaihen13 I just pulled it out a box. It has the 1/4 adaptor for my guitar and I even found the sofware! I just want to make nice simple backing tracks that I can Jam too.

I want to make it work, can you recomend what program I should use with it

  • @saumier1 Get Cubase or Nuendo. You can do anything you want in there

  • @saumier1

u need the driver that is compatible with you operating system, if you have windows vista, look for the windows vista driver, in the M-Audio Web Site, if you have windows 7, you need to install Windows 7 driver. check if you have 32Bit or 64Bit Operating system installed in your computer. and download the right driver. after you install the driver, it works with pretty much every studio software.

i use Adobe Audition cs3, pro tool, cubase, fruity loops. everything works. e joy

  • @tenkaihen13 not even close to the Line 6 Toneport ux2, sorry

  • I have the M-Audio Fast Track Pro.

My mic : C01U Condenser USB Mic.

To record i have Magix Music Maker 15

and Acid Pro, on any of them is their any way i can here myself when i talk into the mic?

And i'm also having problems i have a midi keyboard and FL 9 but somehow when i press the keys on my keyboard i dont hear the keys playing on the computer, just the keyboard?

Any help please and thank you !

  • Well, my midi keyboard can't make any sound unless I plug it in my computer... So I dont know what you mean.

  • this thing is a piece of shit..; skip it.. trust me

  • No its not. I use it professionally and the sound is excellent

  • bad preamps and usb 1.0?

Please.. skip it, much better is available for a few dollars more.

  • can you help me.. im here in thailand now i want to buy this shit.. did anyone knows the dealer address here in thailand? big tnx!

  • Oh and by the way.... Can I get a job there??

  • Okay.... first, recording at 96k/24-bit is not even a remote possibility. The only way you could record OR monitor separately is to either de-activate BOTH inputs or BOTH outputs. Second... There are NO line inputs on the back, merely "Inserts." Ahhh, the inserts section.. You would think, if you would own outboard compressors, you would be able to afford a higher quality of interface. OH, and the "mic/line" switches are actually "Inst/Line" switches.. Minor technicality of course... :P

  • is it has phantom power?

  • yes

  • I is being cat running further than earth. So... Yes.

  • Does anyone know what the little slits on the side are for? It looks like it can slid onto a bracket or mount, but I can't find anything online that explains it.

If I cant mount this on a rack, that'd be awesome.

  • *can

  • They are there to put in packs of Juicy Fruit.. Works splendidly! :)

  • I had lots of problems with the drivers but once I figured out how to use em properly I NEVER have problems. Audio quality is pretty good it's just the latency that's bad unless you use the hardware monitoring.

  • If you are thinking of buying one of these be prepared to spend hours on their tech forum learning how to disable just about every bit of hardware on your pc to try to make it work without periodically crapping out.

I've gone back to using my Novation X-Station as my interface for it's rock solid stability.

Apparently Mac users may fair better using the Mac's "Core Audio" instead of the M-Audio drivers.

Nice hardware. Shame about the drivers.

  • Hi! I have one milion question for everybody....

I already own an M-Audio Fast Track USB and I'm about 9-10 ms of latency.

Do you think I would get better performances with an M-Audio Fast Track Pro? Should I have to switch to a firewire connection?

  • how am i suppose to connect my usb microphone on this *its a condensor*

  • Hey what's up man i just got the m-audio fast track canyou teach me how to use it personally like, what wires do i need what programs can i use for it, can i use pro tools with it, uhmm... what are all the volumes and buttons for/control? please thank you.

  • you need a usb cable, and you can use any software that supports asio.

  • lexicon omega is the best

  • I'm looking for a USB 2.0 device. Can anyone help me out? Drivers are no problem because I have a Vista/Xp dualboot because my programs wouldn't run in Vista.

I was thinking about buying this one but the USB 1.0 really is a downer.

  • get a firewire - easiest way to go!

  • how much is that??

  • get "focus rite saffire pro 40"

I got it.. it's amazing firewire interface !!

  • Is this grounded, does it need to be? What is grounding, and how does it effect the signal. I want an itnerface with an absoltuely clean signal, no noise what so ever.

  • HELP, i have the fast track pro and use adobe audition 3.0 as the recording software. i use my pedals when i record and connect it all like: guitar--pedals--fast track pro--computer. For some reason the fast track pro seems to compress the distortion and make it way too choppy and distorted. how can i record through this device without this compression? because when i have the same settings on my pedal, but connected to an amp, it sounds nice. Help please! i need to record!

  • Can anyone help me?

sorry i'm really new to this.

i know this allows me to record a condenser mic but if i have an electric guitar can i plug it in and record with this too?

  • you can always try it and see right? its just a matter of plugging it in, and seeing if it works.

you could even plug in a guitar directly into your mic jack, this thing is mainly for recording vocals, and amping your monitor signal

  • Yes

  • You've probly already tried it... but yes you can.

    One problem though....

If you plug a electric guitar straight into it... all you will hear is the guitar as if it had no effects on it. It will sound "clean".

it's like playing a guitar with no amplifier or effects.

  • usb 1.1 ? man

  • People think USB 1.1 makes this crap.

It does not. The transfer rates are 480K/s compared to firewire of 400.

    This is a fast interface.

Since its usb though you only get a few more msecs of latency . Not bad at all though.

I hate how people put down this interface. The fact of the matter is that they don't know what they're doing.

This is a great interface don't listen to n00bs.

  • Is this any better than the UA-25EX USB Audio Interface Cake Walk by Roland? I'm trying to figure out which one to get. Any advise?

  • You won't be able to tell any difference in audio quality, but the Roland interface has better build quality, good construction hence you pay a bit more

  • I just bought this device and Im wondering if pro tools empowered 8 would work with it, can u answer that for me thanks.

  • Maximum Speed USB 1.1: 12Mbps USB 2.0: 480Mbps FireWire 400: 400Mbps

  • can any one tell me what else i would need to record acoustic guitar & vocals an interface a mic and what else?

it's just for fuckin about nothing serious.

  • a good sounding room.....and a decent recording software

  • get the fast track usb, its cheaper for messing around with similar quality. If you got a quite space in your house, get a large diaphragm condenser mic, with good mic cable. you can use this to record your vocal and for your acoustic. read up on it, it'll help you decide.

  • cheers for the advice and replying

  • Can the TRS and RCA outputs be used similtaniously? Like could I send a stereo signal to 1-2 and take it from TRS and then send another stereo signal to 3-4 and take that from the RCA 3-4 output? Thanks

  • can somebody please help me? i bought this today for my macbook laptop and when i put in the CD rom and clicked on the "open me" and i selected the fast track pro drive and for some reason when i go to open the protools demo that came with it it says that i cant open it because my computer is intel based? how can i use this with protools demo? plus i dont think the drive has been installed even though i did

  • usb 1.1?!?

    hows the latency on these??

  • Hi everybody, I'm using fastrack pro and a pair of berhinger TRUTH B2030A everything works fine except, a little noise from my monitors every time that the something is playing , when everything is stooped the noise is gone. anyone knows why, thanks.

  • i cant hearmyself while i record though

  • What are you using for recording?is it a software like Cubase?

  • How is it to use with keyboards? I'm buying a MicroKorg and need an audio/usb input for my Macbook, and with MIDI too, this sounds pretty good. Is everyone just using it with guitars/mics or are there any keyboard users?

  • Guys, I have 5+1 speaker set. If I buy the M-Audio FastTrack Pro, I can connect the speaker set on it ? It accept 5+1 ? Anybody knows ? I'm beginner in this domain and i don't know much...

  • It won't support it, there are no connections for 6 speakers. Every kind of music is created in stereo, listening to music in 5.1 is just a matter of a 5.1 soundcard. If you don't produce music, just listen to it, buy a simple 5.1 PC soundcard.
