  • As one who suffers from bipolar disorder I thought this actors performance of it specially when it came to the manic episode was an overexageration of one.yes it did show him as being a genius.but in all honesty it was hollywoods attempt at being insensitive and exploitive to the plight of the mentally challenged for the sake making them money.

  • "Then who are you?"

  • good actor and good performance though tilda swinton is clearly the one who astonished me . The good hearted raving madman making points is one of the actors staple (off the top of my head dennis hopper in apocalypse now , gibson in complot ) with the mentally retarded and the lecturing serial killer . In the other hand Tilda swinton character is a rarity : you don t know if you should blame her or pity her . It was so nuanced and lifelike it was disturbing .

  • Def should've won the Oscar... great performance in Michael Clayton....

  • Tom Wilkinson was brilliant in this film.

  • I am shiva the god of death. Haha i love tom wilkenson.

  • Best "crazy but right" performance since Peter Finch in Network.

  • @zenmachinefilms I agree. "I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!" That speech gives me chills.

  • Tom Wilkinson was electrifying in this movie, every time he came on screen his performance was fantastic

  • He is absolutely nuts and a genius at the same time, love the character as well as Wilkinson!

  • tom wilkenson's performance capturing the essence of the mind of the bipolar should be preserved in a time capsule.

  • 0:30

  • Testament to the fact good films are still being made. This and There Will Be Blood have to be in my top 10 films.

    ''I'm not the enemy.''

    ''Then who are you?''

    Beautiful.

  • @TheRealGrimRainbow yep. oftentimes our greatest enemies and the most dangerous people you will ever find are those who believe they axt in the greater good. oprah windfrey is a prime example of this

  • Michael Michael of course it was you Michael who else could it be who else would they send?

  • The more you watch it, the deeper it gets. The most interesting subtext to me is that of childlike vs. childish behavior. Every character is up against it.

  • I didn't like the film very much, but his performance is great.

  • Micheal Clayton is a fabulous film. It didn't hit me immediately when I first saw it in the theatre. I got the DVD and watched it a couple more times, and I got the oppportunity to really absorb the richness and depth to it. There are many layers involved, and it is a joy to peel back each layer and reveal the various subplots. Wilkenson is superlative as the bipolar attorney. Clooney gives a nuanced performance of a man in mid- life crisis. Tilda Swinton is evil without being a caricature.

  • I have a crush on Tom Wilkinson what a great actor!!

  • Tom is wonderful. Sidney is wonderful. George is wonderful.

I was sold on this film even before I knew anything about it, and I had learned who was in it

  • It's just a matter of time before Wilkenson picks up an oscar. He reminds me so much of Peter Finch,

  • just say kNOw depends on the spelling of profit...if you know too much they call you crazy...who is defining normal...is the question to be...or NOT!...now read it backwarsd...leave a message maybe I'll call

  • Relevant movie and fantastic performance by Tom Wilkinson. If you want to learn about a real U North look up Monsanto, their GMOs in our food, and their poisonous glyphosate herbicides as well as their gestapo tactics regarding suing organic farmers and suicides in India. Talk about Shiva the God of Death.

  • I wanted him to win the Oscar sooooo bad!!!!!!! his performance was brilliant!!

  • @redlion83 i agree absolutely!!! tom wilkenson did a STUNNING job of portraying a bipolar yet brilliant man caught in the grips of a manic episode. yet the fact that he WAS indeed manic didnt change the fact that he also knew what he knew. the fact that he was unstable didnt change the fact that he also knew the truth

  • yea man. Tom Wilkinson is so diverse, he is great. He was so good in "Eternal Sunshine...". also, MIchel Gondry has a trailer up for his new movie Tokyo! on youtube. It looks just as good as "Eternal..."

  • While Wilkenson is an excellent actor (and one of my favorites) I do agree with the academy's choice of Javier Bardem for his role in No Country for Old Men. But I am pleased that Wilkenson was also considered.

  • Believe me, Wilkinson is better actor than Bardem.

  • yes, i agree. javier bardem did scare the ass out of me, but michael clayton was definitely a better movie overall and wilkinson acts like the great ones of times past.

  • @Eudora74 Agree!

Bardem is so overrated only because he's a latinoduschbag...

  • @peterd127 A little extreme, man. "He's a duschbag?" Really? If you don't like his performances, you're entitled to your opinion, but let's keep it respectful.

  • @Eudora74 Yeah idk. Bardem was good thoguh. Generally thoguh, i think Michael Clayton was a better movie than no country for old men. i loved no country byt Michael Clayton was just SO good.

  • @Eudora74 debatable

  • I am Shiva, the God of death.

  • Tom Wilkinson deserves Oscar for this role and I hope he will win this reward in near future. Unfortunately,The Academy always ignores such talented actors but I think he has opportunities, possibilities to do this, especially after such great role the producers will offer him great roles for Oscar.

  • My favorite part is when he is in his apartment an says is everyone listening an he cranks up tha beautiful soundtrack. Along with some of the best acting I've seen ever it was just one of the greatest things I've ever seen.

  • great filmmaking for an intelligent audience. Maybe not film of the year, but why do we need superlatives? A great, highly intelligent film. And Wilkinson rocked it out, as usual. TWBB was overblown and immature. This film is gray, confident, subtle and brilliant.

  • Well said. Great perormances in this across the board. Loved it, watched it 5 times in 2 days.

  • This movie was great!! Most people who didnt like it couldnt understand it or wanted to take time to understand it. I seen No country but I still need to see there will be blood before I make my decision on the best movie of the year

  • "I am Shiva, the God of death."

Okay, that about sums it up for me. 0_0

  • I thought this movie was okay. But personally I hated it. There Will Be Blood & No Country For Old Men are the best of the year.

I'd give this movie a 3/5. Maybe its because I had such high hopes for this and it turned out to be nothing special.

5/5 for the other two movies I just mentioned.
