  • You should hear the version of this on the cd titled "Visions Upward Bound" I google'd it and WOW!!! So nice!!! the way the beat and the lyrics flow is amazing!!! I think he would be proud to hear how it still inspires the youth of today.

  • Eddie Jefferson wrote the lyrics and performed with Moody. Not sure if King Pleasure ever worked with Moody or did the tune on his own.

  • @dan1880712125847 Thanks for the referral; I saw Jefferson do it; I didn't know who he was at the time.

  • I am a airline that was working for TWA in St. Louis...and in a two year spand I ran into James Moody about five or six times...it was so strange....sometimes he'd be alone and other times he'd be with his wife. We became friends and we talked about how we kept crossing path...it blew his mind as did mine..very nice man...

  • This totally sounds like it should've been in Fallout 3.

  • I love this song so much <3

  • God bless you, James Moody.

  • he was very good and this song appeals to so many different generations!!!Rip.

  • Wow, what a musician this man was. His bluesy version of "It Might As Well Be Spring" will always resound in my head.. Moody was one of the finest interpreters of The Blues, like Stitt or Adderley. Now only Benny Golson remains from this unique era.

  • bye moody =]

    thnx for all

    great guy

  • Rest in peace nice men!!!!!! much love

  • I'm sorry for the loss of the Moody family. May your soul rest in piece Mr. Moody, and may God be with you. You will be in my prayers. We need to put a bad beat on cancer, it is taking away too many people we love.

  • Another great musician gone. Too sad.

  • RIP Mr Moody thank you for the memories of my dad singing moodys mood for love in the crib. For memories of Franikie Crocker playing Moodys Mood for love as his sign off song and neing the one of the few kids who would singthe song for adults

  • R.I.P.

  • R.I.P. Mr. Moody. Another Master gone...thank you sooo much for your committment to your craft :)

  • RIP Mr. James Moody.

  • what i meant was I finally found the instrumental on this song. On Youtube all I was able to find were vocalese tunes and no solid instrumental. I know it was based on James Moody's solo on his alto sax and they wrote the lyrics to fit etc.. Great song.

  • @saxmanization Sorry, I misunderstood.

  • there was a concert where moody played this song , voice and sax too. do you know where i can find it?

  • Comment removed

  • @dan1880712125847 where the streets are paved with gold. I heard him do it at Birdland about 5 or 7 years ago. You'll find, it soon. Keep looking and let me know. We are lucky to live when we live.

  • @flanissimo found it. /watch?v=OZ4xFBs08mQ

  • @dan1880712125847 I believe that was actually King Pleasure doing the vocal!

  • excellent. finally a instrumental on this tune. loved it.

  • @saxmanization You have it backwards. The vocalese song was written afterwards by Eddie Jefferson based on this solo that James Moody improvised on the song "I'm in the Mood For Love".The lyrics were written to fit the sax solo, not the other way around. Unlike most standard songs where the lyrics and melody are written to fit eachother, in vocalese the lyrics were written after the fact to fit the complex lines and arpeggios of a improvised instrumental solo over the chord changes of a tune.

  • Nice. The first original instrumental version uploaded.
