eh, just watched the series for the first time and i got through about 13 eps, great series. comparing this to what I've watched, I perfer the japanese over dub. Ryuk just sounds way cooler in japanese. Lights is okay, but again japanese is better. but L dub is decent.

I'm not usually a big supporter of either dubs or subs, I just watch what I can. Personally however, I'm a big fan of the English dub of Death Note. They do a really good job on the voices. I love L's, Ryuk's, Near's, and Light's the most though Misa's is spot on as well. This is also coming from someone who saw the Japanese dub first

I normally prefer the English dubs, but this is the first I've actually watched entire series in Japanese. I like Ryuk in the English but I don't care for the Light. Though only reason I watched the Japanese version is because all 37 episodes were on netflix and not English. Reading TV is such work >.< lol

Brian Drummond is easily the most accurate voice of the whole cast, especially when it comes to the classic Ryuk laugh, he just pulls it off. Easily the highlight of the dub.

The only reason people think the japanese dub is better is because a) they heard J-Dub version first or b)they are japanophiles and every thing that comes from japanese must stay to it's originality. I prefer the English dub because I can actually understand what they are saying plus L's voice kicks ass in so many ways.
