No doubt! Dumbasses think (A) Technology and Energy are interchangable nouns, and (B) Oil is a hundred (HUNDRED!!) years from peaking. Brought to you by Saturn!
Huh, air is infinite if we do not destroy the world that makes it infinite. Water is infinite if we do not pollute it, but oil, the earth does not convert the suns energy at 80+ million barrels a day. What is really funny is the pictures of earth taken from space do not look like a gas can!
HA, that guy said, "I don't think that far down the road." That is the mentality of almost everyone. Its too bad. Can you believe these people think Peak Oil may be 100 years down the road - they don't do very much thinking do they?
I have worked with those people.One. they all own their own companies. And two. they are a lot smarter then you'll ever be and three. they have more money than you'll ever see in 10 lifetimes.
1.) I have guns, ammo, food, and water storage (enough for 5 years), military trained in combat, weapons, and survival. I have my own 100 acre plot of land on a private stream in Utah and I have in-depth experience on crop growing and long term food storage.
2.) The people you work with - they don't know JACK FUCKING SHIT about taking care of themselves without "the system" They have no knowledge of self-sufficiency.
So who's the smart one? You catch my drift? My website under my profile.
Especially love the comment that "we have more reserves now than have ever been used". How ignorant. With our crude oil usage growth rate of about 3,5 % per year we will use all of those reserves in just 20 years (70 / 3,5). That is our current doubling time. Let's face it, oil must get a lot more expensive so that we use it only for the most important things.
I can't believe that people who trade oil are so ignorant. They don't have any statistics training or science training. How did they get hired? What criteria do these trading companies use to hire these people?
these people trade oil and gas futures and other derivative products based on orders from people. They dont have to be smart, they have to be quick and loud... they certainly dont have a oil supply and demand model in their head... 200 dollars for a barrel in 2 years... loughable. its going to happen this year.
about the $200.00 barrel. I don't think 2 years out and I think by the end of this year is too early (probably more like 170 by the end of this year. I'm making an educated guess from the research I've done (probably around mid-august of 2009 you'll see $200) Mark my words.

"more money than I'll ever see in 10 lifetimes?" Wow, I'm amazed. You make it sound like money is the only thing that matters to them - too bad :-( Do you know how much sense your comment makes and how ignorant it sounds? YOU LOOK LIKE A FOOL DON'T YOU?
My comment, (that you had replied about) is very true and I think you know it. Someone who doesn't think that far down the road can't possibly be that smart. Apology welcome anytime.
Peak Oil explains the behavior of the Bush regime and the US empire -- why they stole the 2000 election, allowed (and assisted) 9/11, enacted the Patriot Act, created Homeland Security and invaded the Middle East oil fields.
VERY TRUE. I met this chick and we sat down for a cup of coffee and talked about world events. I mentioned Peak Oil and she'd never heard of it. I described the theory and what that could mean to the world.
I've tried calling her, but nothing. I think she went home and prayed for her sins! LOL
That was actually quite interesting, going into the exchange... I think the poor guy who didn't know the meaning of finite was probably a good indication of the thinking we need to overcome in general. Great job on the video.
I've met people that think that oil is an abiotic process and thus is just going to come bubbling out of the ground like ol jed's oil well on the Beverly Hill Billies.
At the meoment crude producers still able to supply to all the operating refinery of the world. By 2010, refining capacity will increase another 5 million barrels per day. Can supplier match that? Unlikely...
Please notice how the totally IRRELEVANT question of "running out" pops up.
That people can't get the idea that "peak oil" means maximum flow rate, and that after the maximum rate the "production" begins to decline -- this misunderstanding is a great tragedy.
The only reason oil is so sky high is because of these morons.

moblogictv, please change "Are we running on empty?" to something like "Is the barrel half full or half empty?"
gonjamon99 3 years ago
why?
PunkyBurger 3 years ago
"Peak oil" refers to the rate of production peaking and not running out of oil. Peak Oil occurs around the time HALF of the oil has been extracted.

It's great, Peak Oil, its a "Darwin Game" for humans... "Adapt or die" (to much less energy, more manual labor).
