  • hahahahahaha did I say I wasn't polynesian, and yeah I didn't know that the ha'a existed. Learn something new everyday. But with respect I will google the ha'a cos that sounds interesting. And I think it will be awesome to see it live. Much love

  • haka belongs on the real field....the rugby field!...make the haka look bad with the tampon paddings and the condom helmet

  • @peksful rugby players are a bunch of pussies. Athletically...they are no match against the best athletes in the NFL. The fastest guys in the NFL run the 40yd dash in 4.2 seconds...no one in rugby can ever dream of running that fast. Ndumkong Suh would steamroll every single rugby player

  • @ilovefrankandbeans take the pads off and you'll see their true colours..just like police without their badge....fucken pussies!!.."take the pads off! take the pads off!! take your fucken tampon pads off!!!!!"....watch the Rugby World Cup final and you'll never watch NFL again...NFL is only played in one country...while Rugby is played all over the world and even in America...remember, NFL originated from Rugby.

  • @peksful Haha you're all mad because you know i'm right. they aren't even allowed to stick in rugby. Trust me..the best athletes in rugby couldn't cut it in the NFL. Those players who don't make the NFL go on to play rugby because they aren't good enough for football. No one, and i mean absolutely no one in rugby can run a 4.2 40yd dash. Ndumkong Suh of the Detroit Lions weighs 310 pounds, runs a 4.96 40 yd dash, and bench presses 225 pounds (102 kg) 32 times. No rugby player can do that.

  • @ilovefrankandbeans LMFAO..watch this /watch?v=zgoOJd6-_gg

  • @peksful that's not even a link you dumbass. NFL players OWN rugby wannabes. Plain and simple.

  • Ive never known a Maori to say that they are a polynesian. Polynesians are Samoans, tongans, raros etc. Maori are Maori. Every human being came from the same place yet we are different. I believe you have to be a true kiwi to be able to do the haka from the heart. I have watched a few of these vids and they are all the same to me...shit. If u want a true haka watch the haka flash mobs in Auckland NZ..Now thats a haka from the very warrior that lays within the Maori.

  • Colt guys was doing the All Blacks haka. Now UH does a Hawaiian Ha'a created by the UH Hawaiian Studies dept. GO WARRIORS!!!

  • Nah, this is probably the Maori Haka. Leave it to UH to totally get things wrong. If you wanna see the Hawai`ian Ha'a I suggest taking notes from Kamehameha High School's football team. You know it's the traditional Hawai`ian Ha`a because their is an 'oli first, out of respect for the ancestors, before the war chant. UH needs to do their research. Embarrassment -_-

  • of course with this bad quality and lack of verbal clarity, I can't tell if this is haka or ha'a. I can't even hear what they're saying.

  • Hawai`ian culture has something similar to the haka. It's called HA'A. The ignorance of the media only calls it haka due to the fact that the Maori have made it famous. Polynesians originate from the same place, so we share similar things in culture, such as the haka, and the ha'a. Why do we always need to have a debate about who "OWNS" it? We are all the same people. Educate yourself before you start making accusation. If Hawai'i does the haka, we are always proud to say it's Maori.

  • This was gay. UH is gay. Do it Hawaiian style or no do em at all. Disgrace to Hawai'i nei.

  • fucc da haka do ur own island shit

  • Lets just leave the haka for the Maoris PLEASE

  • @andagii

Cuz the damn haoles get scared! Fricken girls. It's part of culture so leave em be

  • the Hawaiian haka isnt similar to the maori haka,it is the maori haka!! the last time i checked Hawaiians dont speck MAORI!!

  • @jonah9511 What's the "Hawaiian haka" ?!?! And haole Hawaiian and Maori language is sooo similar it's almost the same thing.

  • Wait. So why was it unsportsmanlike?

  • @andagii im guessing that the throat slitting at the end of the haka was seen as unsportsmanlike.

  • @rockemlancers no im maori it means a breath of life.

  • wot racists

  • im offended dumb refs suck i play for fullerton football and they called a flag on me for doing the haka wats wrong wit dat

  • Mean Maori mean a big massive churrrrr to all poly brothers playn NFL but u do know u guys need to play a real mans game called rugby union , it means heaps as a Maori to see u guys useing our haka but pls do it right do it from the heart say the words right even better find out what the words mean

  • hawaii is not trying to disrespect the maori culture if u people do your research on the football players they come from all over the pacific.... i dont no why some of you gotta hate on us, we all polynesian brothers...WE SUPPOSE TO STAND TOGHTER AS ONE..and if your not a polynesian...dont hate because in the eye's of god we are all his children.

  • @TheSupaman808 I have no problem with the haka being performed properly by Toa whom are taught the meaning and significance of the haka and are trained in its performance. But as to your statement I can give insight of some of the feelings by maori about the Haka being performed by outsiders. The Ka Mate Haka performed by the All Blacks is done so only with the permission of the Ngāti Toa tribe as it was written by the late chef Te Rauparaha

  • Cry baby white man hate peoples culture!!!!

  • it doesnt matter where it originated from all cultures like maouri and hawaiian and samoan all have war chants it doesnt mean moari is better then hawaiian or something like that.

  • FUcking Racist bitches thats they do it island style

  • To all who don't know which race lives under the Polynesian names look it up, or better yet, I tell you.

With Hawai'i being the breeding ground and the motherland to start for more than half of the polynesians you now see today..

You get the Fijians, Tongans, Samoans, Hawaiians, Maori, Tuvalu, Tokelauans, Cook Islands, French Polynesians, and a whole lot more.. The fastest growing races are the Samoans and Tongans for being versatile and adapting to the rapidly changing world.

  • @succclollipop what a load of crap.

  • @succclollipop What a load of crap. Theres no evidence to support your claims. Go back to school moron.

  • They weren't performing the haka. They were performing the Ha'a. It is a Hawaiian war chant. They are similar, but the motions are different and they are speaking Hawaiian.

  • @patriotchild Believe it or not, it's a state wide high school football tradition.. Aiea, my alumni performs it as do most public in the islands. Ratdaddy3 raised the most perfect point in reference to this video.. Indians - Chop, Gators - Chomp, Warriors - Chant & Dance.. BUT NO, it has to be a form of unsportsmanlike conduct. I'm Hawaiian, Polynesian and the Haka is as much a part of me as the Maori for we are under one Nation/Race. I say to hell with the WAC, let us do what we do best.

  • @succclollipop I dont agree. If the other polynesians (i'm maorI) did the haka in privacy, great. But not before or after sports games. The fact that they perform it so publicly, and the fact that alot of the time the words are wrong isnt good. If all of polynesia wants to be able to use something with the excuuse of being "one nation" (not disagreeing with that) then in my opinion, i say we create something together, and not ruin something distinctly maori

  • There's nothing wrong with what they're doing..it part of their culture..and the team represents not only themselves but past and future when performing the haka..we have a saying in new zealand mean maori mean

  • I used to live in Hawaii,I think is unconstitutional for them not to perform the Haka,It is a hawaiian Culture,If FSU can do the Chop and The Florida Gators do the Gator Chomp,I can't see why you idoits pick on the Warriors, get a life and lets us do the School Sprit,it in our Blood.

  • @RatDaddy3 Actually, haka originates in the Maori culture.

  • @RatDaddy3 They give them the penalty because the other team gets scared. So you know it works. I say screw it take the penalty and then ram down their necks.

  • @archer3k1 The other thing is though, they also took away our second most effective attribute. "Headhunting." They now make it some sort of penalty for doing what they were trained to do, but even harder and better than average. They're just ruining the game of football for Hawai'i.

  • Everybodys entitled to their own opinion, me personally think that the haka can be performed by any nationality. I am maori and very proud of the Hawaiians performing the haka.

  • Question: How many members are of maori descent in the All Blacks performing the haka?We don't judge those that are of different ethnic groups performing the haka do we? If anything,we as maori should be greatful and proud to those many different races carrying on our culture.

  • The haka can take its origins from the hawaiian culture, We maori came from hawaii, So to all those maori dissing our brothers and sisters, next time think off where we came from and how different things could have been if we stayed behind, We love american music, their food, their way of life, yet you attack them with callus comments, You should be ashamed of yourselves.

  • Kalaheogurlz: Your sorta right, We maori came from hawaiiki nui, alot of maori don`t even know that, We believe when maori do pass on, the spirit goes to the tip of the north island of nz and then makes its long journey back home to hawaii, i`m proud of my history as a maori but i`m also proud of our spiritual home of hawaii.

  • Hawaii does have their own Haka now. It's spoken in fluent hawaiian. So you can't say they aren't promoting their culture anymore. Also, hawaiian originated from New Zealand, so in a way Maori is part of their culture. I don't know why people think its disrespectful to the Maori, they should be honored that they took the time off their studies and football to even learn the haka from someone whose obviously Maori and taught it to them.

  • if these guy's wan't to do a haka then at the very least they shouldn't do kapa o pango-a haka specifically composed for the new zealand all black's in 2004/05 (kapa o pango literally translate's as all black's) hawaii has a rich & vibrant culture surely there's a war dance that originate's IN hawaii? why not promote your own culture?

  • If the hawaiians want to perform the haka & they've been given permission to do so, who are we to say they can't. However, if you are hawaiian & are taking ownership of the haka, then please have the respect & state where it orginated from "The Maori People of New Zealand". We do claim the hula as part of our culture, but I know many Maori who have performed the Hula. We do not claim the Hula as Maori, We all know where it originates from Hawaii. All we ask is the same respect back.

  • this is why american football sucks..................inciting the opposition, its a fuckin contact sport

  • fuck your mother...

  • damn straight! Americans are so stupid they probably DO think they OWN the haka. LOL. And the only reason this team got penalized is because nobody knows what it means. The NZ AllBlacks never got penalized because of the haka! The American football team the warriors at least kept it culturally sensitive, they got a maori to teach the haka and its meaning to them. And so why do these Hawiians do the haka in maori and not there own language?

  • @Caardoor True brah. I'm Hawaiian, We all da same for da most part. I mean we're polynesian are we not? I no like how haoles and other people try say we're different and we're stealing their culture and shit (or so I have heard).

  • @Caardoor were all polynesians, hawaiians or samoans do not own the haka dance but hawaiians have a similar war ritual which is called the ha'a. we are one and must stay strong as a poly nation!

  • @Caardoor The Hawaiian Ha'a is similar but not identical to the Maori Haka, and is appropriate to Hawai'ian culture.

  • @Caardoor Maori,Hawaiian etc. WE'RE ALL POLYNESIAN!

  • @Caardoor well i do agree with you, but i do agree with the refs call. there are some inappropriate gestures that are in the haka that go against the rules of the NCAA is what they claimed but i believe that hawaii can continue to do it but in a clean way. like i have noticed in alot of the haka videos that after the haka is done some of the players do that your dead gesture which is rude and against therules so thats why they got the penalty but if theyleave the crap likethat out theywould be g

  • its part of there culture i see no Maori's in that team at least give us credit dnt try and steal the haka

  • @shufflerrrrrr and what...all the guys on the all blacks are maori???i think not.theres quite a few white guys on there.why not bitch at them too.

  • if they have the right to preform the haka...why dnt the do it in there own language instead of Maori..Its disrespectful to the Maori culture..

  • Hawaii has the right to do it, its part of our culture, Polynesians are all related somehow, if you took Hawaiian studies you would know this!

  • what there not speaking hawaiian there speaking Maori so how is that part of your culture exactly just because we related dont mean u can do the haka at least do a Hawaiian one its cool u guys do it but dont claim it as ur own culture

  • thats like saying I have all the rights of a polynesian because I was born here. I also have the rights of the african americans, the asians, the jews, the.... we are all related somehow... But no it doesn't work like that so in actual fact, they stole it!

  • You yanks are so stupid, the Haka orginates from the Maori in New Zealand. They've been doing it for centuries and the "All Blacks" (you tube it) have the right to do it. You American football teams come along and start perfroming it in the last couple of years, without knowing its true meaning or cultrue. Big disrespcet to the Maori people...That racist and ignorant in itself.

  • @06ives hey douche,im hawaiian, maori, and chinese.the first american football team to do a haka was BYU.its a school with a team that is predominantly poly.(hawaiians, samoans, tongan and many others...)it was done in rememberance of a BYU fan who was maori.also, you do realize that other polys have war dances right?

  • @shoobee101 Do you speak te reo? You aren't tagata whenua are you? If you were then you would understand that by doing "kapa haka" you would truely understand the true nature of it even if it was for a passing of a friend. I LIVE in New Zealand and have done kapa haka. I am Maori/Samoan. So hare atu ki te whare paku (maori) or alu ai tae (samoan). Like I said, big disrespect to the haka by not doing it properly.

  • @06ives This Hokianga Maori has nooo problem with the Hawaiians and the way they performed the Haka...Proud to see others around the world have taken an interest in Maori culture. 5 million people live in NZ ,How many people do u think watched the game?well probably more then we have sheep in NZ which adds to a wider exposure for Maori culture +++ 4 Maori and NZ tourisem = dollars =JOBS.Watch the ALL BLACKS play the Australians next time and c how much respect the Australians give the HAKA ...

  • thats racist and the ref should be fired im canaidian i play football and my team does a haka its the greates

  • thats not a hawaii culture that haka dance comes from the islands of somoa

  • that is so stupid. they cant penalize us hawaiians just becuz we want to show the world our culture.

  • Lol that's all the refs could do for their home team.. try and add an extra penalty haha

UNLV played like Division 2 that game, how pathetic.

  • Wow...Awesome Hawaii Warriors, don't be pushed around by the powers that be.

I'm from NZ and we all think it's awesome that your team wants to embrace the Haka or Ha'a or Sasa....i'm not sure what it is called in Hawaiian.LOL

Do your thing and Smash the other teams!!!!!

  • You go Hawaii - intimidate the hell out of your enemy let them respond, possibly with a nice mountain song or something from O Brother Where Art Thou and then go to it. I'm Maori and it's really a great honour to have your opposition do this - it shows they respect you and equally that they wont back down.

When you're ready, Hawaii, you'll come up with a haka or equivalent for yourselves. In the meantime borrow and affirm yourselves, my Polynesian brothers.

  • I'm also a Maori.

I am not at all offended that they performed our war dance. I find it quite cool. Kia kaha ra e tama ma!

  • they know nothing about culture and tradition.

    morals and values.

why not let us polys have some damn pride!!!!

  • Political correctness run amuk. Rock on Hawaii!!

  • hawaiians muse not like there cultrue if they have to do another cultures haka keep it real leave the maori haka to the maoris we have the mana to do it

  • then tell all the haoles on the nz rugby team to not do the haka be4 the games too

  • this is just another example of americans over reacting. dont they know that its tradition to do the war dance before they go into battle?

  • WTF?!?!?! Why the hell would you go at America when it was a sports associations descision. Im sorry i wasnt aware a sports ruling spoke for a whole country. ya prick!

  • kia Ora!

i AM maori.... i'm not offended at all? I think its quite cool- they do a pretty good effort but its nothing like the real thing? U have to see it here in NZ. Almost all rugby teams do it before their games and the boys do it at familt fings like funerals and birthdays and weddings. theres heaps of diff hakas but that one is the most famous! its not an ALL BLACK haka, they actually have their veryown haka but its the one they use most.

  • every polynesian country has there own wardance and if hawaii wants to bring there OWN version then i don't see what the problem is

as long it's there OWN! version and not a rip off version from the Allblacks

  • i wish canadians had a war dance, it would be funny to see the team canada hockey team at the olympics doing a war dance on the ice in full gear infront of another country lol

  • its maori culture not hawaiian culture, a bit different

  • Weak. Looks like a pathetic version of Kapa o Pango. Any Tri-Nations team would laugh at it. Leave it to the All Blacks.

  • Comment removed

  • yeahhh bannn those niggaaazzzzzzz its not hawain is it there got there on dance rep your own cultureeeeee. if where cry babys what does that make u.

  • The Haka sure isn't Australian either so what the hell are you talking about?

  • Comment removed

  • bro im a maori that moved to Australia camonnn TEKO WERO what the hell are you talking about

  • That's cool then bro...I thought you were an Aussie trying to act Maori. My bad.

  • chur sweet as bro

  • Actually the Hawaiian team have there own haka called the ha'a - Its great that they have embraced there own culture now so its all good!

  • lets have a war between U.S.A vs new zealand and will see who tha lats one talks, quit trippin about whos doing tha haka. maoris acting like some cry-babys'.

  • Finaly...someone is taking action ...stupid cunts copying europeans all the time ...

  • ummm, hawaii is polynesian, well originally anyway. i think it is a good thing to remember and honor the native culture.

  • But don't you think that's a little disrespectful?

  • to whom?? unlv???? i went to fsu, every homegame, chief osceola rode renegade down to the center of the field and planted a spear. i don't think it is really much different.

  • I mean disrespectful to themselves and the culture. Offensive gestures are not very respectful to anyone.

  • And by offensive, I mean the arms crossing in the t, right before the guy sticks out his tounge. I case you don't know what it means, its a big F you.

  • that i didn't know. i just thought it was a bunch of guys trying to psych out the other guys. thanks for clearing that up.

  • Ka mate, ka mate! ka ora! ka ora!

Ka mate! ka mate! ka ora! ka ora!

    Tēnei te tangata pūhuruhuru

Nāna nei i tiki mai whakawhiti te rā

  • Tis death! tis death! (or: I may die) Tis life! tis life! (or: I may live)

Tis death! tis death! Tis life! tis life!

This the hairy man that stands here...

who brought the sun and caused it to shine

A step upward, another step upward!

A step upward, another... the Sun shines!

  • Stick to your own traditions, if everyone integrates, whole cultures and traditions will be lost for ever. I could go on, i could right a whole thesis on this kaupapa, but i think the first sentence is enough. Judging from all the comments, i think our hawaiian brothers have been given a challenge, to revive their traditional version of a haka, so show us what you've got ;-)

  • Why would they do a haka? They're Hawaiians, don't they have their own war dance?

  • its funny how they think the haka is hawaiian war dance...im from the u.s. and thats some bullcrap...! but its good that the uces and usos are proud of their culture though...

  • American all fake

  • how dare u we fake right we are also the strongest right .......pussy

  • American have very nice pussy:D

  • How fucking dare they say it's part of Hawiian tradition.

Yup... sounds all American to me... claiming something as thier own when they dont have a clue what theyre doing.

As a New Zealander I'm disgusted. At least the dumb Yank talking could've meantioned New Zealand MAORI in there somewhere.

    Useless.

  • yea that pissed me off now! them clowns dont even know wtf thea talkn bowt! grrrrr

  • its not part of hawaiian tradition! the team is just full of samoan and tongans showing and spreading the culture!!

  • this is an attempt of nfl to copy contact sports like rugby. they lack their own traditions so they copy others

  • its not their fucking cutlure, its MAORI culture from NEW ZEALAND.

Hawaii doesnt have a haka, they are stealing it from thousands of years of maori tradition

  • fuk the WAC let the usos at UH do the haka it dont hurt nobody

  • Theres nobody better at the Haka than the New Zealanders and i dont think anyone else should copy. Could you imagine Irish players getting up and doing abit of irish dancing before a match. lol

  • To all the Kiwis and Maoris on here who are getting worked up....get a life. Seriously, cultures are meant to be shared and people always share dances, languages, foods, throughout history.

Yeah, the Haka is Maori and no one is denying that, by saying that 'its our culture', he's talking about the tradition that was adopted by that school.

    Live and let live.

  • Fuck you Ahmed. You get a life, like all the idiots out there, your ignorance is like that of Americans and they way they treated the Red Indian. Its about raping culture not SHARING. This haka is disgusting and a mockery of our culture. You're right, languagse etc should be shared. But the haka is sacred to indigenous people of Aoteroa, you saw our reaction as Kiwis and the comments on here! it means it has place in our values...something you know nothing about, so go fuck a monkey

  • The intention was not to mock but to honor, I dont know what Native Americans have to do with this. In fact, the Haka was introduced by Maori players for the University of Hawaii and didn't just come out of thin air like you seem to be suggesting. If you have a problem with it, it would be better if you consult your own youth for sharing it with others. In fact, I think they had more sense and respect for their own culture than a respected moron like yourself. Lighten up.

  • Again Ahmed, you've missed the point. Your arrogance is reflective of all the Yankee mentality. There was no honour in that performance. It was never introduced for you guys to use but from your own polynesians who never even consulted the meaning of the words. But you being a first class moron wouldn't know that becuase its all rant and blah blah with american ego shit. Maybe you should think first before making ill informed and ill educated comments. You breed ignorance...wanker!

  • 'its part of our culture'???? its not even their culture bahaha

  • wat the fuk man...yanks dont know shit bout the haka!!! i wish we as maori cud send a mean kapa haka group over n show them how haka is done!!!!

    MEAN MAORI MEAN

  • im maori nz born and love my rugby and league...i have nothing against the blacks in america and also a handfull of whites...its just those fuck bum white people that hate on browns and blacks...whats the use...and why are the nzers on here arguing with americans? we should be arguing with them aussies, noone likes them...only the league players i respect...other than that...KIWI POWER

  • Only hawaii would have a struggle with lousiana tech and then go to the sugar bowl.

georgia showed them that you have to play real teams to be considered good. They didn't pass the test

  • Fuck it let them do a haka but do there own, the haka there tryna jack was specially written for the Rugby Union team the ALL BLACKS it represents there diversity of the different cultures represented.

  • Kia Ora Hawea,

The haka (Ka Mate) was not written for the All Blacks. It was written by my Great Great Grandfather Te Rauparaha while hiding from his enemies in a kumara pit. The All Blacks (or rugby) didnt even exist at this time! It does not belong to the All Blacks either. It belongs to the tangata whenua of Aotearoa. MAORI!

  • they aren't actually doing Ka Mate they copied Kapa O Pango so Hawea is right

  • N-E-WAYZ U.S. FOOTBALL IS BETTER THEN RUGBEE i mean rugbe is aiight and all, but it AINT SHIT compare to FOOTBALL. reo talk yo.

and usouso and tawhguy and those other dumb ass's act like samoans dont run tha all bklakcs, when they do and they do the haka that they cry about cuz, "its only for maori ppl, please dont do it im mad at you cuz ur copying us." u ooh bitch ass ni99ah.

  • they arent fucking samoans, if they were they wouldnt be in the team, shut up puts some pads on, and a helmet and go cup you tight ends little nuts

    faggot

  • yeah waiting 10 minutes for a dropped pass

    very exciting

  • you need to go back school and learn how to construct a sentence you retard. And i'd like to see you take your pads off and come to new zealand and play some real rugby none of this 8 second 'play' bullshit in football. haha infact even better come play league then you'll really get fucked up.

  • ooohh weee... cum play league son.. hahaha

  • stfu ni99a u tlk 2 much sh11

  • who gives a fuccc this is america we can dew wut ever we want!...if they dew tha haka, so wut quit being a baby over it polynesian ethnicties are dew'n it over here and these ni99ahz like our polynesian shit so get over it... if not do somthing about it and get ur maori bullshit ass knocked tha fucc out cuh.

  • yeah thats what all you cunts think! "its america so we can do the fuck what we want, who cares about respect? not us we are the americans so who gives a fuck"

    get fucked.

if your gonna do a haka, at least you could make your own, rather than destroying a hundred year tradition

    dick heads

  • yea, we're america, meaning we're better than you, so go and cower in your shitty pest of a country you insignificant fuck, hows the dirt taste there?

  • actually, the dirt... 10/10. its beautiful... NZ own dirt... not full of shit like the american soil!!! shut the fuck up and think before you speak, but going on stereotypes you arent too good at that are you? you and your country are the pest my friend, and no body would care if you and your country were never to be seen again... so do what your told and FUCK OFF

  • yeah people wanna start acknowledging Traditional custodian Amerindians acknowledge their Indigenous link to this great country the

  • What the fuck did you just say. Dew'n? ni99ahz? At least say and spell out niggas...easy as that. You make us Americans look like dumbshits bro, so quit talking like you're a fucking thug and shit.

  • they shouldnt be allowed to do it its new zealnds

  • Part A

It's funny how people like usouso and tawhguy etc etc get offended by "outsiders" performing the haka, I mean do you hear americans complaining that we breakdance, or rap as that was created there??? besides if you want to break it down even more, you guys really have no say on the matter as....

  • Part B

... Point A. your not an All Black, so Kapa O Pango is out the window/ have no say and Point B. Unless your one of my iwi - Ngati Toa, Ka Mate also gets crossed out - So your really stop acting like it's yours and saying people can or can't do it Your kind of thinking just holds us from getting bigger and better....

  • Part C...dis is getting long!!!

... UH just needs to refine it better but if helps their boys identify with their heritage then by all means, do it. What ever you say here isn't going to make a difference to what UH do so just relax and enjoy the fact the maori and moreover the Polynesian culture is being spread to the world

  • The AllBlacks team has so many polynesians - I think there is 7 or 8 Mainly Samoans. But they all NZ'ers so we unified in that case. Other islanders have different versions of a war dance. Tongans, Fijians, Samoans. The AllBlacks were the ones that had the history to showcase it to the outside world throught Rugby and the the Kiwi's through Rugby League.

  • wtf its not there culture its the maori peoples culture, its my culture and it pisses me off that they do this.

  • get ur facts straight

its a polynesian culture, although the fijians do have one who are of melenesian background.

  • You get your facts right sure maoris are polynesians but there definitely aint any maori in this team.

  • excuse me? you might wanna watch what you say, you are talking to a maori. Maoris are polynesians, Hawaiians are polynesians, tongans are polynesians, tahitians are polynesians, samoans are polynesians.

  • You watch what your saying im a maori too. Ive been doing kapa haka since I was 2. And I just said that maoris are polynesians. And if this is a Hawaiian team why dont they something Hawaiian instead of a haka. I saw this team doing a haka written specifically for the all blacks thats messed up

  • Tawhguy just relax champ, it's not like their performing your haka, besides this haka was not written by the blacks, for someone who sez they've been doin kapa haka for a while, you dont know much. also this squad in the past and currently has maoris and other islanders. just relax yourself and respect the fact our culture is being spread and that other people wanna be like us!!!!

  • its bullsh they got penalised. theyre hawaiian, its their culture... they didnt perform a maori haka, it was their own ha'a. i dont think nz n hawaii need to talk about who has rights to perform a haka before a game, its part of both cultures, as it is in fiji, samoa and tonga as well as other countless islands. i do think though, that this is just another example of certain americans trying to hold back diversity from "the all american game". its a load of shit they were penalised.

  • Just because their names Hawai'i doesnt mean they dont have maoris on the team. the all blacks dont have any polys, thats a discrace to the culture.

  • haha, what? All Blacks dont have polynesians? u fukn crazy man. dont no shit.

  • if only they have an rugby team and the vers NZ now dat would be good to watch both of the team do the haka

  • i wish they used dare own haka instead of ours....

still a haka should be aloud

  • If this ha'a is a part of Hawaiian culture then it should be allowed. There are similarities between Maori and Hawaiian culture. That is because they're in the Polynesian family. But then again, the performing of haka before a game is a right which NZ has first and foremost. So Hawaii and NZ need to have some chats about this.

I think this is an interesting issue and I'm eager to hear what other people have to say. A hui hou! E noho raa!

  • any guys have a cam? i have mine in my profile h

  • fuck the wac... they dont know shit

  • fucking haters

  • fuck them we didn't give a shit we still won like we did yesterday

  • stupid haters hating on the haka

  • im just a southern countryboy from arkansas. i was first introduced to the maori haka as a child by a friend of mine that immigrated to the us from nz. i think that it is great. in fact, i took up the game of rugby in many ways because of my friend from nz. i think the haka should be treated with the respect that it deserves when any team performs it.

  • The westerners and New Zealanders are as one, negative and judgmental. It amazes me that instead of giving these guys props for even trying this, for bringing their culture to the fore front, the New Zealanders are being picky, and only look for the negatives. These boys enjoyed it, and did it with pride, if it's not right help them, thats what we islanders do. Too bad it's not in samoan, tongan, etc.we would've been proud that they even tried it.New Zealanders, get that stick out of your butts.

  • Your ignorance is astounding! Both my parents are Maori and I appreciate there is HUNDREDS of Hakas for our culture and the same with Tongans, Samoans and all Poly cultures. Fact is if they want to do a Haka then fucking well do a Hawaiian one (like they finally do know after 3 years of doing the Kapa o Pango and Ka Mate). Why do they have to do a Maori one if their are Hawaiian? Same as Fijian doing a Samoan and Samoans doing a Tongan one, get my drift?

  • i agree, but not all people from New Zealand feel this way. so be careful when saying that!

  • every polynesia has they own war dance, not just new zealand.

  • Bullshit. DO THE HAKA! Damn the man. We do Tilingit native dances before our high school games in Alaska. What the hell is wrong with the HAKA. Im white. I have native brothers and sisters. I have African brothers and sisters. I have Asian, Latino, Pakastani, Iraqi, and all the way around everywhere brothers and sisters. Put aside racial differences and HAKA together. We all go to war. DANCE! my brothers and damn the man

  • Yes mate do the Haka! Just the point is Hawaiians should do a Hawaiian Haka, same as Maoris can do the many Maori Hakas, Tongans, Samoans etc the same. It just sooo disrespectful UH doing the Kapa O Pango and the Ka Mate

  • Look, yes it is a Maori cultural chant. And yes, there is a Hawaiian Haka. That is true, but we are all polynesians and we are all related in some way. And lately Hawaiians and Maori have been coming together and sharing cultural respects. We shouldn't get upset over something so minor. UH is spreading the Maori culture and Hawaiian culture. Plus I'm sure there must be some players from New Zealand on the team. or at least some with a Maori background.

  • Don't wanna burst anyones bubble about race but the HAKA belongs to Maori whether you're Samoan, Tongan, Raro or Hawaiian and thats that. If you're gonna perform the HAKA do it right and proud the HAKA out of the States is too fast too casual and over exaggerated 4real stick to their own stuff unless its done right! Its the same as Maori mocking the sasa the kailau the siva the soke the hula it just looks way wrong, it comes back to the teacher even the All Blacks fail at times to Rock the crowd

  • A lot of the old boy All Black players from years ago can tell how psyched up players are from how passionately they perform the haka.

  • why dont you guys stfu about its a disgrace because i dont see you idiots complaining about the All Blacks haka when a bunch of samoans and other polys are in it. shit the best play
