  • I was wondering why we can't see the center of our own galaxy.

  • I believe in higher powers using science to do their biding

  • @SpitzerScienceCenter OK, I got a question.. how much hydrogen is left, and how long is it likely to last as potential fuel for stars?

  • Nice image

  • wat the hell

  • Is there a place where I can download a very high quality version of this image? Say, several thousand pixels on a side?

  • Wow.

  • Im gonna fly into it and meet a weird guy named sSteve!

  • @PinduliPwn Be careful The Grox don't kill you on the way there!

  • PLAYING TOO MUCH SPORE, PPL

  • The Universe is a lie. It's the Mormon who created the stars.

  • @windex1234 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

  • @windex1234

    What are you smoking..?

  • @windex1234 Your mother is a lie.

  • the center IS NOT IN sagittarus, its on the S.W. edge of the sagittarius-scorpius border,2 degrees S.E. of NGC 6451 some of what was showen was the GSSC

  • Oh man, to see we are but dust within the creation ............ Om mani padme om

  • The only religion that was ever worth shit was Buddhism. Buddhism never hurt anyone, never tried disproving science, and Buddha basicly didn't care if you believed in his teachings or not... You decided.

That says alot, compared to the indoctrinations coming from Christians and Muslims.

  • Hmm...Galactic Center...reminds me of Spore.

And i just got to the center in Spore :D

if you don't know what spore is,your a fag.

  • @KiteNamikaze ya but we didn't find the crashed spaceship on mars yet so we don't have good spaceships and we didn't purchase the wormhole key so it will destroy us if we go there.

  • All of you who are stuck in this religion vs. science battle.... get over it no ones going to win that argument, and it will never matter.

The universe is so beautifully amazing.

  • I think one day far in the future they will see that there the same. But that will only come if people start making advances in both science and religion, that will take a truly introspective group of scientist and a few of the less religiously stubborn leaders in all of the religions that exist today. I could be wrong though maybe there are no competent religious leaders willing to be open minded.

  • @buddhaloves they are 1 and the same

  • It might be a Reaper? Sounds like indoctrination to me!?

  • @Lamykopatygaros Surrender Now Shepard! Shepard, shepard, shepard, Pitifull, Shepard, Shepard, Shepard.

  • No, modern religion today will eventually lose just like polytheism, sun, and volcano worship eventually lost thousands of years ago.

  • @buddhaloves Amazingly Beautiful sounds better

  • @SongCovererS nope, beautifully amazing is more appropriate for the universe. amazing is the main adjective in the description of the universe.

  • @buddhaloves

it does matter..religion has, and always will be an enemy of science and knowledge..religion is an adherence to comfort, and not truth..religion denies reality, while science embraces it..and in order to survive the future, we MUST face reality head on..if we just throw our hands up, and say such a battle doesn't matter, religious thought will take us back into the dark ages..religion needs to be fought..u can play mr. pacifist..but let people fight off dogma and superstition.

  • @buddhaloves

    and so beautıfully deadly

  • All you people posting shit are nuts. Free your mind. Read something else other than a Bible.

  • Não tenho palavras. Maravilhoso, grande América que me proporcionas estas maravilhas, sem ti permaneceriamos na obscuridade. Obrigdo a ti Fernando.

  • lol christians are so dumb

  • screw you!

  • your a dumbass. Jesus is not real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop with this shit. Were going to burn in hell. What you need to see a psychologist. And if religion is so real then why have their been thousands of different religions over the last 5,000 years? Maybe because their just stories and none are real. If i wanted to i could create my own religion right now. call it homoanity. And i can guarantee a bunch of idiots like your self will come and join me. Say goodbye to god and get a real friend

  • As I always, I have nothing against God or Jesus. It's their F*cking fan clubs that annoys me!

  • @ihavtugo

Though Science has proved he was an actual person, he may not have been the son of "God" or whatever, just the same way as Mohammed, was a real person.

  • And I hope you are just joking and that I've made a fool out of myself, because that would be better than you actually believing there is no galactic (meaning our GALAXY) center...And as a side note, if you are being serious, I don't think that your particular method of conversion is conducive to neither your intentions nor God's will. There is also no mention of the age of the universe OR our planet. That number you have is merely speculative and based on the begats in the old testament.

  • Wait, shadowblastdx...when did i make that statement? all im saying is that the UNIVERSE is not 6,000 years old. please follow my argument. you are arguing the EARTHS age based on chronology in the O.T, i am arguing the UNIVERSE'S age based on simple math. the bible doesnt talk about the universe's age, and i even conceded that there may be a possibility of the EARTH being close to 6k years old. i never once argued for or against christ. please stop making ridiculous and illogical assumptions...

  • How does a galactic center have ANYTHING to do with the age of the UNIVERSE in your argument?!?!?!?!? And I assume you meant Earth is 6,000 years old? Because the UNIVERSE is definitely NOT 6,000 years old!! This is proven with the most basic forms of math. Light travels at the speed of 299,792,458 metres per second. Traveling at that speed, light can go exactly 9,460,730,472,580.8 km in a (julian) year. Hence the term lightyear.

  • so what you are saying is you dont believe in Christ at all? thats just sad... read the Bible, it tells you that the earth IS only 6,000...

  • It's proven that the bible was just a story book. A book read to kids at night. Science is the only thing that is actually real. If you don't believe me go outside during a thunderstorm, stand on a ladder and hold up a golf club. Then we'll see if God really exists.

  • ok, it's perfectly fine with me if you dont believe the truth. p.s. i DO believe in science but i AM a CHRISTIAN, and one day i WILL be a Christian scientist / Astronomer !

  • And it's fine with me that your wasting years of your life worshiping an imaginary friend. I believe in heaven and hell. I believe in Demons and Angels. I believe that theirs a good force and a bad force. But i don't believe in worshiping one person (Jesus). Who was actually a person. But thats it. And i sure as hell don't believe God created earth or the Universe. Any supernatural forces here on earth now came after the big bang.

  • @ShadowBlastDX ShadowBlast doesn't seem a very appropriate name for an aspiring christian scientist.

  • If you're REALLY going to be that sillily specific, the first line in Gensis is "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth", it never says WHEN the beginning was.

So in all honesty, you can't use the bible to prove how old anything galactically is.

  • Very compassionate. Is this what it means to be Christian? The whole "turn the other cheek", "treat others the way you want to be treated", "love thy neighbor"...I'd say that's not exactly a shining example of what Christ taught. In the words of Monty Python, "Christ once said love thy neighbor and we spent the next 2000 years killing each other over what he meant by it." Tell me this isn't shining example of what it means to be Christian. But hey, what do I know.

  • Well, to be honest the Bible does not even say "in the beginning." It really says "at first God created..." the average bible thumping Christian doesn't bother to learn to read the Bible in Hebrew, though.

But yeah, the Bible is not a geological reference by any means. It's the sacred myths/ somewhat historical record/ religious practices of ancient Israel...well, the Tanakh portion, at least.

  • @ShadowBlastDX

No it's not you RETARD. It's over a BILLION years old! The Bible is folklore, fairy tales, some proven facts, but not many.

Oh and guess what you "fag"...

I'm gay, so suck those titties you ignorant piece of shit.

  • @HaxorWolf atheist piece of shit, if you don't think there is a god,so lets just say there isn't one, whats the harm of believing in him? answer me that.

  • @ShadowBlastDX

Who ever said I was an Atheist.

Who ever said I wasn't Agnostic... Fucktardo.

I do believe in some higher power(s). There is plenty of harm though, Crusades, wars, death.

  • awesome !+

  • This is incredible and my favorite.

  • lovely
