This is just my opinion, you can all have your say. The goalie has a crease for a reason, if he leaves his crease and someone bumps into him, or in this case runs into him, there should be no penalty, after all, he chose to leave the crease. There was a rule, if you were in the goalie crease when you scored, it didn't count, so why should a penalty when the tender leaves his safe zone? Just my opinion, no hate please.

With DP's knees, it wouldn't take much to knock him down. The idea that this is two players competing for space is crap. All three were deliberate efforts to run DP...and that is the back story to the goalie fight...why DP stepped into Cooke and then Johnson challenged him. So even though Cooke The Tool was serving a suspension at the time, he was a part of the 2/11 brawl.

let me tell you, as a 12 year goaltender these arent dives in the same sense as players dive. Is DP falling to less than crushing hits? sure, but that's because he's trying to do his job and stop shots, not getting worried about getting ran by a talentless goon. hes unprepared for every single one of these hits, that's why hes getting knocked on his back

How is this going to affect Savard in 10,20,30 years; never mind his career? Hockey players are damn tough. But this crap's gotta stop. One of these days Mr. Cooke is going to wind up on the other side of the hospital bed. I wish the NHL would impose a rule on obvious cheap shots where the cheap shot artist had to sit out as long as the injured player.

i think dipietro needs to grow a set. he skated into cooke while cooke was stopping in front of the crease. he wasn't in the crease at all. yes, the two other incidents were unneccesary, but it was just two players trying to claim the same spot of ice and physics took course.

He just looks like a buffoon doing all these things.

@NHLArchive The last one might seem a bit of a dive, but the first two are legit penalties. You can't throw a defenseman into a goaltender and get away with it - injuring the goalie or not.
The last one was pretty "dirty". Cooke knew where he was going with that.

@superstarmax25 yes i agree DiPietro embellished the last one, but it was still technically cooke running into dipietro. Malkin passed it over to the right side, and dipietro went out of his crease to cut off the angle/more of the net. goalies always get priority in that situation.

I love how DiPietro acts like he died every time he got hit. Matt Cooke absolutely is stupid, can't take 3 goalie interference penalties in one game, but that last one was great embellishment on DiPietro's part. Cooke is outside of the paint, and its more of the goalie running into him then the other way around. Funny how he got booed after that anytime he touched the puck.
