i am using e7 and i am sick and tired of symbian.... slow as hell... i feel degraded in front of android.. iphone.. windows phones.. i did wrong investment...nokia has gone nuts..
the n8 is a lumpy pile of shit. a good camera with a second rate phone attached. 1 yr into owning an n8 and im over it. its so fucking slow, so glitchy. and im one of the 1000's literally with the same problems.
@Greno Have u tried the latest updates like Anna and Belle? I think the phone is amazing. I can use .zip and .rar files, can use Putty and Rdesktop to remote administrate a computer running linux or windows. Can turn the cell phone into a wireless hotspot and share Internet connection. I can use MSN, Google Talk, Skype, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Orkut, ICQ and a few other services. What more do I need? And the best of all, everything for free with my hacked device :D
thats not "lag" you retard, thats what the theme effects do, they give it a sliding motion vs just a plain switch between screens. learn something about graphics
There are better alternatives. GiveMeApps doesn't charge developer fees, and gives developers 100% of their profits. They also help market your app with reviews, have customizable store fronts with social media tools and blog/news feeds to help you do business, all with an active forum to boot. I've been using GiveMeApps for about a month now and have been making decent coin which is a must in this crappy economy......
I have switched the screen effects off and feel the phone responds better now. I know it has been said that it is a 'feature', but i prefer not to have it. Thanks 'MyNokiaBlog'.
It's just a bit of animation that isn't quick enough to start. It's probably an easy fix for them. (I've just done it and i think it's a TINY bit quicker than this vid, but not much)
If you flick quickly after the first flick (or during the animation) it does the faster screen change as if the animation was disabled. Same goes for the button at the bottom of the home screen
that's not lag dude, that's just the animated theme. so that homescreen appears to "slide" which you call it as "lag"
and it appeared less "laggy" in landscape b'coz the sliding time is the same in both the portrait and landscape, that means in landscape the homescreen slides faster which gives you a perception that it's less "laggy"
Okay I've just watched this video ( watch?v=YU0xtqWbFZc ) and it seems they have/will improve it so it will be the same as on the bada OS (Samsung Wave, Wave II etc). The only thing still missing is that the wallpapers stretch over several screens and I can seriously consider an upcoming Nokia as my new phone. Thanks for the videos people, they really help a lot!
@JohnnyBoy501 You might want to consider spb shell, it gives an "android like" experience to symbian phones, It´s a paid app, but you can get it for free in some forums. With Spb Shell you have several screen strech wallpapers, and a widget based interface.
In my experience with n8 so far, symbian 3 is really good, except for the portrait keyboard and the browser, but so far so good.
I dont like that the homescreens are seperate units and have to be loaded. I hope they change that so that the homescreens are like on the Samsung bada OS, one big screen and you can move your screen and see that it is the same screen. You can move it as far left as you want, you can see the other homescreen as a whole, but if you dont realese and just slide your finger back into the middle of the screen it wont switch to the other screen. Just look it up it will be a lot more understandable :D
@xtremesv it's strange,i know, but this is true...infact if you put on the battery safe mode, the cross animation disappear and you can notice that the touch change page istantly, while with the animation has this effect that seems lag...
@xtremesv It is an intentional feature, not a bug, to reduce unwanted screen changes. But the new firmware, due out in February according to news, will introduce a new style, more similar to the iPhone: you simply drag it and it moves with your finger. [...]
@esprexxo [...] It simply shows that you can't please everyone. Some complain about it and, based only on this single feature, are fast to say that N8 is inferior to iPhone (it is not, actually, in almost all respects it is superior). For others, these small differences mean simply nothing. Not all phones work exactly the same way, if they did, why would we need several manufacturers in the first place?
@esprexxo The nokia N8 is in fact inferior to the nokia iphone4. I have both an iphone 4 (I found it at a club) and a nokia N8. I use the N8 as my phone cuz I need that camera. I just use the iphone4 as an Ipod, I still hate iphones, but they are fun phones to use. The iphone4 is less sluggish and the web browser is waaay better than this dam nokia browser, not to mention all the cool apps on the iphone. I hope the symbian anna update fixes the pathetic web browser.... Nokia all day!!!
how many languages does it come with or it depends on region cause if it's lik the N900 then symbian is super in and if they can change keyboards on the fly
thanks man!it really helps!

Haha, I watched this video to make my home screen look nicer, but this looks a f...ing lot uglier than with effects on.
Besides, everybody knows you can just turn the effects off, but it's easier if you toggle energy saving mode on, it'll automatically remove effects.

@Tonisyy I beg to differ. It seems faster than it does with theme effects on. At least on mine it does. I don't know how yours is.
