there is one thing in the first movie that i cant understand, it is why they need to get too close to shoot a bug, they have rifles, a long range combat weapon and here in the animated serie they simples shoot at random while the smart tephai shoot in they nerve stain

I like the emotional aspect of this series, I just wish that they didn't add that part about the bugs being in the forest. I understand some people just want to see the action but it may have been better off.

The brain bug does not have a single nerve cluster, so T'Phai can't guarantee a kill from that distance.

But any normal bug, he can one shot it from 10 miles away. :p

Thats because they don't fire conventional ammo like an M16, they fire caseless or, forgot what its called, but the projectile is propelled by magnets, gauss rifles, thats what their called. Grenades are the same though, still blow bugs up like they do now.

Not really.. although it does contain some elements from the book that were not included in the movie such as the Skinnies (who were never allied with the federation in the book..) and the queen bug..

Everything else altered or made up..
