  • Thanks so much I tried it on my own tonight but I could not figure it out .

Now I know how to do it thanks to you.

    Happy hooking.

  • I am an experienced crocheter, and I usually have no problem following written instructions for stitches, but this edging stitch was really eluding me! Luckily, it only took about 30 seconds of your video to get the hang of this surprisingly simple stitch... thanks!

  • @diamondworkhorse You are welcome.

  • my 18 yr ol sister loves to crochet am 14 my self and some of the things are really pretty and its sad how maany people say that its a grandma thing

  • @funfunfun114 It is sad. I was 19 when I learned.

  • @funfunfun114 Good for you and your sis. I am happy to hear that younger people are keeping needlework alive. Hope you pass your craft on to the next generation too! As for myself, I did not learn until I was 48... (old enough to be a grandma though I'm not) and am sad that I did not learn b4 my mother died because it could have been something fun for us to do together.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE your tuturials! They are fabulous! I don't know exactly what it is about yours that are so much better than the others but they ARE! You make it easier! What I was wondering though is w/ this round coaster pattern, if you wanted a bigger size, do you continue around after the SC with double crochet or more singles? Or alternate? I'm going to make a floor mat with your circle variation. Thx!

  • @improudmama2 I agree, I heard her voice and thought, this sounds like the lady that I learned how to make flowers from, even though the name is different, I knew if I let this video play out I'd get the hang of this stitch (after trying a couple other videos where people get going too fast, or stop talking while they work leaving you hanging). Thanks for posting!

  • Thank you for this, I'd never heard of reverse stitches before and now I know how. :)

  • LOL, wanna hear something funny?? I was looking at different videos this evening for different border styles.. I wasnt paying attention to the user ID of the person that posted them and when this vid came up and I heard your voice, I'm like:

    ''Thats Theresa!! Cool!''

**Because I had seen SO MANY of your videos! You taught me how to crochet :)

Thanks so much for all your help!! :)

  • Teresa...... Why does it look like you have 2 strands of yarn that you keep yarning over? I just learned basic crocheting 2 days ago. Can you explain this??? <3 thanks!!!

  • @buddafly68 I am working with two strands of yarn with this tutorial. I will send you a playlist for the beginner crochet stitches.

  • Ok this video really helped. I think I can def try this stitch now I was yarning over the wrong way.

  • I like this, it kinda goes against your instincts as a crocheter lol just watching you do makes my mind boggle , a mental struggle lol. I'll have to make sure im paying attention when doing this stitch to make sure i dont do a normal SC :)

  • This is very pretty for a border! I think I might have to try it on a pair of earrings if I can manage working in such small scale!

  • @BeyondBracelets Just take your time, work slowly and it will come together.

  • A wise reply, so it is. Thank you. You should know - again - how much your tutorials have enhanced the lives and the crochet skills of soooooo many. Your generosity is MUCH appreciated.

  • Yes, Theresa, I do find it challenging - just wondering if its possible and whether I should persevere - or just give it a miss.

  • @auretjean1 I am sure it can be done although it may be time consuming. Maybe work a few to see if it is something you like and decide if it is worth the time.

  • I love this and use it often, thanks. Pls advise how I can do this when I do a length of chain stitches - and want to reinforce it. Many thanks

  • @auretjean1 You want to do a chain and then the reverse single crochet? It can be done but may be challenging since you will not have a lot to hold on to. Let me know if I did not understand you correctly.

  • Hi Teresa, i would like to do this proyect, but i see just the ending of it, as you say, Crab stich reverse, how can I start this cluster?

BTW, thanks so much for your videos, i have been learning lots with them!!

    Idalia

  • I am doing a throw and I was wondering, do u have a video on the Reverse Popcorn stitch also [pattern calls for]? Could U send me these videos. Also the back/front crossed treble stitches if u have them. I luv your videos! Thanx!

  • love that edging.

  • hi your good at this, im left handed can u send me your video for the lefties thanks

  • I will send you the link. Thank you.

  • I can't see how you're yo on the backside. I can't tell what direction you're coming from. help?

  • Thanks, this really helps. I've tried to do it before, following some written instructions and trying not to twist it. It was not much difference when finished.. jut more difficult! So I thought .. why bother?! NOW I can see that the twisted look is all that it is about.

  • Love the edging. Thanks

  • You are welcome.

  • this was great! i found a patter that used this stitch and had no ideas what it was. i crochet with my left hand left to right..so i would do the opposite then right to left in doing this stitch..correct?

  • Yes, I will send you the left handed version for this stitch.

  • Thanks so much now I can finish my project

  • Thankyou, this is so clear.

  • thankyou, took me about 2 minutes to watch what I wanted and perform the stitch required in my pattern. the hat I made is finished off lovely. Thanks!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Oh wow jsut fuond the perfect edging for my new hat. (black and red/white twilight, i am a huge fabn of the books but could not find a hat!!!) thanks so much. i will post a response vid when i finish so u can see it! thansk for about the millionth time =] lol

  • You are welcome. I look forward to the video response.

  • That was so clear! Thank you so much. With your help, it took me about eight seconds to get it right.

By the way, that's a different hook than what you normally use. What are your thoughts on that one?

  • I was using two strands of yarn so that is the reason for the larger hook. The hard plastic hook is nice to use.

  • wow.. really great.. I was reading the instructions for this stitch in several books.. n confused.. and could not come to the exact one while doing of my own. UR video helped me in few seconds and I found my mistake.. thank u so much.. Terasa.. !!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Oh that's so pretty! Is that your own discovery? (Forgive me if I'm being ignorant, but that's just what I am regarding crochet. But your videos are incredibly helpful!)

  • Thank you. Someone else discovered this stitch.

  • Hi Teresa Love all your videos. They have all been so helpful. You are the best! do you have a gauge for various sized heads. ie..a "J" hook for a 20 inch head, or would it just be a hit and miss? I also saw where the beanie was started from the bottom. do you have any demos for that? so far i have made small ones for babies, now i am trying to venture to the adult beanies. Also do you have any demos of the fingerless gloves. no separation for the fingers, just the thumb. Thank U!

    Anna

  • I don't have gauge recommendations for hooks specifically but you can do it yourself or you can look on the yarn label and the company should have a recommendation for gauge. Sometimes it can be hit and miss because so many people crochet so different. Their tension may be very loose or very tight. I have a lot of hat patterns but none that start at the bottom. No fingerless gloves at this time. If I come up with something I will post it in a future tutorial.

  • wow! I learned something new. I'm finishing off a project that called for this edge. I've never heard of this before. Thank you for the great video it was very helpful Snookie

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Thank you so much for the demo!

Could you possibly show how you would then single crochet in those stitches? I'm trying to follow a pattern that says to do that, but am having a hard time.

  • i am making a hat..and i read about this stich..if i do this stitch as on of the rounds in my hat would it look like a cable? i am trying to do a hat with some new stiches but i just dont seem to understand this one.

  • I use this stitch as an edging. It is the single crochet in the opposite direction.

  • I've crocheted for 30+ years and this is something new for me! Love learning more!

    :-)

  • I'm really tired so this may sound more idiotic in the morning, but can you do a reverse double crochet?? can you reverse any stitch or would that kind of be pointless and irritating? Again I'm tired, so forgive my lack of brain power.

  • I think I started out trying a reverse double crochet one day but got distracted and never decided if it could be done and would look nice. Are you wanting to do it for an edging?

  • I was thinking about it, my next blanket project is going to be a ripple for a baby blanket, and I was debating what edging to use. Though I should more worry about finishing the one I'm working on first! lol

  • I love this edging. very simple but nice results. Thanks for the video. I use your videos alot to learn new techiques. I really do apprieciate you posting the videos!

  • Thank you. :)

  • What fun I crochet left handed,It looked normal to me ,almost.Would backward single crochet be like righthanded crochet to me.

  • You would crochet to the left for the backward single crochet. It is done in the opposite direction that you normally crochet

  • That's pretty I going to have try that!
