Any way you could post some sort of guide on doing this, only in Traditional Stick form? I'm having quite a bit of trouble with this, and unless i can pick it up, I'll be kicked off the snare and put in the pit. :-(
first thing: the snare (i think this single word is explaining itself, if you don't think so, read the other comments on this vid, you have a 99% chance to encounter a comment concerning this snare
second thing: if everyone would be "learning" the double stroke by doing 2 single strokes (no, this isn't a double stroke!)in super slowmo and getting faster, they would piteously fail and stop playing drums
nonetheless, i hope my comment was helpful for you and your further videos.
lol.. the tipping point how to improove the speed and how the technique actually works you didn't explain -.- fortunately im a drummer myself and know it. this video is first of all bad recorded and second totally unuseful for beginners. low~
Whats up with that snare, you want to be as professional as possible but you record ur snare WAYYY to hot...Dude learn recording levels before you start teaching.Makes you look like a noob ass begin'r
im trying to doubles, but i cant fucking do it dude...my wrists get tired after going for a full 5 minutes of practicing...i mean i guess i dont practice everyday, but shit. the speed at which people go, sounds and looks unrealistic
why cant i get good rebound out of my stick i have a loose grip and correct hand placement but my stick just gets stuck or something i cant even hit a decently quick speed
your fingers are probably blocking the way back- try to hit once and immediately open your hand so the stick flies back just by itself- then try with a grip but position your hand so that there's some space between your thumb and pointing finger, also make sure to loose other fingers so that they move together with the stick as it rebounds, check Dave Weckl's videos about that on youtube
i really dont think his snare is that bad. i mean, look at the video, its a live footage with the drums not even mic'd...and im assuming he has evans heads...so i think its just the camera
well also when someone has a snare like that that has that sort of trashy overtone then its usually a problem within the snares themselves. it sounds to me like a snare or two is bent and is vibrating against the drum weirdly after he hits it.
You know what? He's gonna get bad wrists if he keeps drumming like that. The first thing I remember being taught is to have the back of your hands facing the ceiling, he's got his thumbs facing the ceiling. Correct me if I'm wrong!
Wtf you ugly asshole! You want that begginers destroy their playing? Doubles in fast motion is not moving your hand twice! It's letting your fingers push the stick on the second stroke you asshole fucker! I am nervous now!!!!
im tryin to learn how to read drum notation but sum of the notations i don't know wat they sound like or wat they tryin to say. u should play wat ur doing but add a splash screen to show wat the notation looks like.
There are heaps of ways to do doubles, this guy is pretty much useless, he doesn't explain HOW to go by the technique, you cant just go "right, right, left, left"
Double strokes are a combination of arm, wrist and fingers. The index and thumb provide 50% of the pressure, the next three fingers provide the other 50%. They also serve to cradle the drumstick, and they move with its rebound, enabling more control and speed.
Never has such a collection of amazing drummers been assembled than the trash talking bitches on youtube. Yes, yes, everyone can do everything better sitting in their chair with no shirt on eating Cheeto's.
it's not the snare that is horrible, it's the reverb effect that has been added to the video's audio

deadincentive 4 years ago
cause you can get the bounce out of it
loverboyofdogs 4 years ago
No, don't listen to those people, you do not get bounce like you would when doing a roll. It's a completely different rudiment.

nah... 100% with index and thumb, that easy. The others fingers isn't supposed to move.
