What do you mean it just stopped? You mean like it seized or it just quit, eventually restarting again? Two strokes run fine on or off road. Big problem inexperienced riders have with the self mixers is not getting the oil/fuel ratio correct. And if you lean out the oil, the bike goes faster, until you seize it! I see guys pooring gas in the tank, measuring the 2-cycle in a cup and dumping it in the tank. That's not mixing correctly. Oil is important. The junk at Autozone isn't the right stuff.

i got a big question..... if you drive a 2-stroke on the road...for instant a Yamaha YZ 250 cc. when is it the biggest risk to cut the engine? my engine just stopped when i droved very very nice on the road. my onkel says it is because 75% of the cooling comes from the fuel....i dont know what i should think, but in my example it could be true :) plz answere ;)

Just posted our hometown Hilltopper Grand Prix vids on Favorites! Nathaniel ran his new YZ450 in the pro race finished 15th and won his first trophy after about 4 tries. This is a long tough course. Best riders are in the 11 minute range, Nathaniel is just over 12. Race is Hilltoppers Grand Prix, around the end of March or early April each year. It is a points race!

@vaughnmx43 This bike came with the titanium valves which are kind of like M&Ms. Soft titanium on the inside with a hard shell coating on the outside. The primary purpose id to lighten the weight of the valve train and help increase RPM among other things. Well, it's pretty easy to wear through the "thin candy shell" and you end up with 0 gap on your valve. We reverted back to Stainless Steel valves. Big improvement in reliability. Never 0'd a valve again. There's a tech note out from Honda too

@mikemather5 You are exactly right, cause when I was rebuilding my 06 crf250r's top end, I bought the Kibblewhite Black Diamond stainless steel Valves and Valve Spring set. When I had the Titanium valves, my valves would go out of spec a hell of a lot sooner then the Stainless steels valves. I got my top end rebuilt in April of last year, and I Ride really hard, and I haven't Adjusted or reshimed my valves yet. Stay safe out there

@Nep821 He did crash on his GSXR600. July 6, 1AM out in the desert between Las Vegas and 29 Palms, CA. Hit a coyote at about 60. Sent him flying over the sand berm along the edge of the road. Kept it up on two wheels until he nosedived in the soft sand. Bruised hip, shoulder, detached lung on one side, little blood in the kidneys for a few days. Worst thing was the chest hit, still sore. Had all the body armor on. Busted helmet. That saved him. Used GPS to get CHP there. Looking at Ducati next!

Oh, the usual stuff. Rode and races my Haro BMX through jr hi/hs, track/cross country team, 4 years in the Marines (mountain bike wheelie record around the runway at Camp TQ in Iraq), not quite a black belt in the Marines, live in the Mojave Desert, can ride as far as I want in almost any direction! Being 6'3" just under 200lbs helps too.

Assuming stock gearing you are correct. Read back to find actual sprocket sizes and other mods. It's a little quicker than that.

Now i understand, you've changed your gearing alot, becuase aftermarket 250f's go 70 mph with stock gearing yours is stock(ISH) motor with aftermarket gearing, thats why you werent hitting the rev limiter your gearings too much for the bike to max out in 5th gear. but you are skilled at wheelies. i do 75 mph wheelies on my 450 but its easier, and i wear ALOT more gear!!!

Yes & no. Two strokes are easy rebuilds. I over, 2 over, 3 over, new cylinder. Cheaper too. Problem is most less experienced riders can screw up a two stroke more easily. "Hay it goes faster if you put less oil in it!" Even running out of fuel will lean it out, swell up the piston and you're trash again. Four strokes get bent by over-reving mostly, or overheating. Generally 4-strokes will go further on a build. But if you can't ride worth a damn it doesn't really matter which one you trash.
