living in the past is no way to live is what I was saying but its good to remember with some quite time. I wouldn't blame the weed for bad decisions in my life but the police will arrest you for it so becareful......and yeah weed is better than alcohol. Alcohol brings out the rage.....pot slows my brain down, makes me more productive and less anxious.
Pray for me bro..........I'm so sad these days. I like this old rap......makes me remember my friend Ollie who was mor succesful than I bt rkless

@difencrosby Lol, don't even get me started. Absolutely it hurts. The music today can't even compare to the 90's and early 2000's. @canibusnj Yo, I didn't know Hass G was the same one that did "Magic Stick," that's crazy! It's good to see cats like Hass, Kwame, and other rap artists from the 90s making money on the production/songwriting tip, seeing how so many cats got done wrong by the record labels back in the day.
I remember LOVING this song back in '91.. still do! It just amazes me that how I considered them to be 2nd rate back then compared to my favs - but notice how they're THREE times as good as your garden-variety rapper nowadays...

Respect due to the most underrated year in hip hop history--1991.You had the debuts of
Naughty by Nature,LONS,UMCs,Organized Konfusion,Del,Main Source,Cypress Hill,Show & AG,Pete Rock & CL,Freestyle Fellowship,KMD,etc.More classics in that 1 year that in the last 10 in rap.lol
@thirdshift47 De La Soul Is Dead, Brand Nubian, ATCQ, Stetsasonic...I think that was when the J Beez were cutting tracks with Sensational/Torture, too (as Crazy Wisdom Masters). 3rd Bass, Chi Ali, Black Sheep...
There were plenty of dope albums that were produced by vets that year as well;I was trying to focus on heads that debut in '91(and how could I forget Black Sheep.lol)
All of those othe heads came out before '91(but I guess that you could throw Chi in the mix considering he debuted on the Black Sheep record.)
Torch had his major label debut in '93 on the JBs' '40 below trooper.'
@thirdshift47 Yeah, I just meant it was a good year all around, both for debuts and for the established crews. And J Beez took that break between albums, I think 1991 was around when they met Torture and started the work on the album. The record company rejected it, so it was probably 91-92 when they were pulling all that crazy noise stuff in the studio.
@thirdshift47 You're not kidding. Did you ever get that Crazy Wisdom Masters 10" record that Black Hoodz put out? It was four songs from the original album sessions that either got scrapped by Warner Bros or the label made the Jungle Brothers change them for release. So great. And the song "Troopin On The Down Lo" off a compilation disc the same year as "Remedy"...almost like hip hop from another solar system entirely. I'm not sure why they've so pop in the last decade.
@thirdshift47 Freestyle Fellowship's first album "To Whom It May Concern" is (another) one of the great lost classics of hip hop in general and West Coast hip hop in particular. Actually, both their first two albums deserved A WHOLE LOT more burn!
It's just amazing how today's music is far from real music, that's what happens when people with big bucks run record company's who knows nothing about true talent and real music!!
yo my style ain't changed since rap began I keep it ALL THE WAY REAL YALL.SUB-ZERO..check me out on myspaceChicago, not the one in Cali.I'm THEE ORIGINAL SUB-ZERO!!
The reason rap may sux today is simple because rappers are slaves they can't be real with themselves so they have to a person who can't talk about nothing pos but just talk about money and blunts that is so dam sad.But we do have a lot of Gospel rap that is creative and nice to listen to.
All of us saying that the new rap sux need to become talent scouts and put better artists on the mic. They're out there, they're just underground. Like unsigned status.
Amen. And the funny thing about it was this isn't even the best song on the album. I have been listening to this again and again for the last week. People had things to say back then and had fun saying it.
wow they are good but i noticed a great change in thier muzik from thier fruits of nature album esspecially blue cheese compared to unleashes time to set it straight
i kno times were different but they lost a good bit ov thier credibillity bcuz ov thier change its unfortunate cuz they were good
My bad. Im the same age as you just about (Class of '95) and most of the chicks I knew were'nt as into hip-hop enough to know who these dudes were. I apologize.
no chains no charms no hoes no weed "Shout out to weed tho" but no weed, no tossin money in the air no guns no murder just blue cheese..... What the fuk have we let the media make us do to hip hop... A Generation lost!!!!! it hurts truly hurts my heart to watch this knowin i can also search Shorty Low now WTF
OMG I thought this was lost forever I was in high school when this came out shit I feelold now my kids are just busting a gut laughing at this video but good old times .
Wow! It's almost 20 years since this video got released, & it's the first time I've ever watched it. One to Grow On is my favorite track of theirs. I went to school with Cool Kim, now NY Oil. He's a real good guy who occasionally visits my co-workers & I at my job. Thanks so much for posting this. Means a lot!
WOW this brings me back to middle school. i still own this album on cassette. damn its crazy music use to be so fun and real back in the 90's. now everyone just wants to talk sh*t and brag about how much money they have, i could careless that fiftycent is rich, his money isnt doing anything for me or my family or my community
All imma say is this joint was underrated then and still is now.. that beat is sick.. I don't care what anybody thinks.!!! Throw this on at a club and ppl start dancing... oh wait a minute ppl don't dance anymore. they just stand there and look at each other.
For some reason this song just always stuck with me since i first heard it. The came to Dallas and i went to see them, but down here the majority had switch to ganster rap So me and my cousin seemed to be the only ones that where into their set. Then blue cheese came on and People stated get on the stage Dancing. UMCs just left the stage. Then It was confirmed to me that Hip Hop had shifted from the fun style to Ganster.
can anybody believe that? mscherryj1 just tried to check me and say that WE KNOW REAL HIP HOP and then turns around and say that the gza said "the dumb is mostly intrigued by the drum" when anybody who knows the triumph wu joint knows that masta killa said that line. how dare she try to do me in and she dosent even have her facts in order? help her someone
U did get checked. Deal with it. I see I made you check to see what was really good though. Yeah I slipped and said the wrong man but I was still withthe right team. Again take yo panties out yo ass man. Again who cares if you don't like the song. I am not going to keep playing kiddie posts with you. Its obvious that this is your lively hood. This is my past time.
no you got checked...your creditability was shot the minute you start talking shit and was wrong as hell...so yeah im up in a bunch because i hate when dumb asses try to check me...and yes i enjoy discussing hip hop with real heads from all over so this is my lively hood...but you started with me personally so its you that has nothing to do...i just was making a general statement/opinion. go past the time fucking with someone else
All thatname calling..In appropriate. You showing your true age right there. Get over it dude. I already told you, I won't go back there with this. You call yourself a Lord act like one. All the swearing..about a song...IS IT that serious?? I guess for you yes it is. Again I don't care if you like the song, you have made your point and I have made mine. DO NOT hit me with this anymore.
I HAVE NOT HEARD THIS SONG IN 20 YEARS!!!!!!!! Didn't remember it. Oh, man!

People had things to say back then and had fun saying it.
jeditwinz 1 year ago 3
wow they are good but i noticed a great change in thier muzik from thier fruits of nature album esspecially blue cheese compared to unleashes time to set it straight
i kno times were different but they lost a good bit ov thier credibillity bcuz ov thier change its unfortunate cuz they were good

All imma say is this joint was underrated then and still is now.. that beat is sick.. I don't care what anybody thinks.!!! Throw this on at a club and ppl start dancing... oh wait a minute ppl don't dance anymore. they just stand there and look at each other.
XTRABIG 2 years ago

This is my past time.
mscherryj1 2 years ago
no you got checked...your creditability was shot the minute you start talking shit and was wrong as hell...so yeah im up in a bunch because i hate when dumb asses try to check me...and yes i enjoy discussing hip hop with real heads from all over so this is my lively hood...but you started with me personally so its you that has nothing to do...i just was making a general statement/opinion. go past the time fucking with someone else

DO NOT hit me with this anymore.
