  • I HAVE NOT HEARD THIS SONG IN 20 YEARS!!!!!!!! Didn't remember it. Oh, man!

  • 2:00-2:10 one of the many reasons I love 90s hiphop

  • dope

  • blue cheese is also a killer kind of weed

  • But, what's the abstract meaning of "blue cheese"? English is not my native language, i understand the track more or less, but i can't find the phuckin way to connect it to "blue cheese?

  • @InsertBeat "Blue Cheese", 1) in this song, refers to rappers who were corny, gimmicky, fake, etc. see the top comment.

  • Nostalgic.

  • I TELL ANYBODY THAT THE LAST OF THE BEST HIP HOP DIED OFF IN THE MID 90S AFTER THAT IT SEEM LIKE IT BECAME COOL TO BITE OFF OTHER PEOPLE AND NOW YOU GOT ALL THE GARBAGE THAT'S OUT NOW,ANYBODY EVER READ AN ARTICLE WHERE THEY COMPARING A NEW ARTIST TO AN ESTABLISHED ARTIST? IN THE PAST THAT WOULD'VE BEEN AN INSULT BECAUSE THAT MEAN'T U WASN'T ORIGINIAL

  • I ALWAYS USED TO HUM THIS BEAT ON MY WAY TO SCHOOL

  • i remember pete jackson playing this in the earl of crewe and id never ever heard it,thanks brother, wicked tune

  • Comment removed

  • Bought this 12" for 99 cents at Rhino Records on Westwood Boulevard in Fall of 1991. There will NEVER be another movement with this kind of artistic force again - not in my lifetime. Thank God for hip-hop.

  • Cats from Staten Island

  • "you don't wanna make a pitch that's Wild"...lol

  • i watch this and think about hawaii and thailand.wierd?

  • Thank you for posting this old skool since I'm from S.I. New York haaa memories

  • THAT BEAT IS CRAZY

  • i always like this song this is happy rap

  • slam like rodan!

  • Real real dudes love UMC's. Before this LP they were on an LP of various artists called (Roughhouse) They had a track called (Invaders) which was INSANE! I have it on wax.

  • Ok for all Us HipHop Heads who loved this song because it was Fun its 20 years Later and most of Us were rockin so hard to this track even to this day we never asked why is it called Blue Cheese..

Blue Cheese stands for Fake Rodent MC'S who are cheesy these MCS are Truly (BLUE) fake (Cheesy) its a Paradoxic Irony .These Brothers were Genius "For the source of my skill is all real

Fashioned to eliminate the weak who are marked with the seal

    Of blue cheese"

    TRUE HIPHOP STAND UP!!

  • Hip Hop Quiz ..who here knows why this song is Called Blue Cheese?

  • @MysticalTV good question.why?

  • Im in tears right now and im a full grown man DAM.. TO hell with whitey for destroying HIPHOP ,,THESE WERE THE DAYS

  • @MysticalTV Well lucky for you "whitey" invented the internet so you can enjoy your good old days. : )

  • been thinking bout his track all week.... had to coome bump it.... my cuz'in still got this on vinyl.. after all these years

  • living in the past is no way to live is what I was saying but its good to remember with some quite time. I wouldn't blame the weed for bad decisions in my life but the police will arrest you for it so becareful......and yeah weed is better than alcohol. Alcohol brings out the rage.....pot slows my brain down, makes me more productive and less anxious.

Pray for me bro..........I'm so sad these days. I like this old rap......makes me remember my friend Ollie who was mor succesful than I bt rkless

  • I used to have this cassette........seems so cheesy now. I want to call out tommorrow spend the day looking a the birds out my window getting high on the past but thats no life to live. Thats no life to live. RIP Ollie Louthian, those days in tenth grade were the best days of my life. Miss you so much.

  • @222Lightning

thats no life to live? u repeat is nothing wrong with getting high once in a while better than drinking vodka allt he time

  • sick haircuts

  • This is the 10th grade for me right here...braids with the fade haha smh

  • This was my shit back in '91!!! Instant classic for me! Coming home from the 7th grade i used 2 couldn't wait to see this video!

  • this was back before everybody was a gun toter...blunt smoker. back when it was a bad look to say you pitched crack or grip stacks from cut smack. back when it was still cool to dance but MC's didn't request girls to remove their pants. you a fool if you think new rules advanced this game, no, lifestyle, i use to stand. i love jewels like the next man, but i'm still the best man without'em hangin from my neck man. these brothas made a song called blue cheese.10 yrs later, blue bling's all you see

  • @tommywedgewood dont you many 20 years....we went from blue cheese to "my lambos blue"

  • @tommywedgewood YOu must never heard of N.W.A, Rakim, King Tee Ice-T, Above the law, Comptons most wanted, Onyx, Ice Cube, the lynch Mob, Evil E. The thing is it was more variety back then. You had contioues rap, gangsta rap, jazzy rap, hip house and a lot more. Now all you got is mostly GARBAGE!

  • @TheeAssyrian2000AD its true bro 100%... im from that era of hip hop...its all real!!!!!!!!!

  • HIP-HOP!

  • these guys make beats now

  • @arthurnigga yea this is the cat that made 50 Cent "The Magic Stick" Im pretty sure.

  • This is the hip hop i grew up with but now sadly it has been corrupted.

  • whew crazy

  • I fell in love with this song back in the day. Damn I miss the 90's rap and hip hop

  • @CurvyAries Don't it kinda hurt listening to this music, it takes me back to the day when I was a kid without responsibilites living care-free.

  • @difencrosby Lol, don't even get me started. Absolutely it hurts. The music today can't even compare to the 90's and early 2000's. I think every generation feels that way about their decade that they were raised in. My parents thought that our generation's music sucked back in the 90's and they liked the stuff they listened to in the 60's and 70's. All I know is that I miss: Yo MTV Raps, Rap City and 90's hip hop and R & B. Today's music is just sad.

  • Salvation to the weak - that somes up hiphop old school to soulja boy

  • one-nine-91

  • i don't like blue cheese eigther.

  • fuck lil gay wanye

  • Can't beat Happy Hip Hop :)

  • different days for my different people....this generation is lost in a robotic daze,we gotta,"teach the children, save the nation".....

  • All the music we have today is starting to get my nerves.I miss listening to the hip hop music we developed during the 90's, well, some of them.

  • Hass G now producer Hassan for Phantom Of the Beat (Busta Rhymes "Take It Off" from E.L.E, Ghostface Killah "Apollo Kids" from Surpreme Clientele, Lil Kim and 50 cent "Magic Stick from La Bella Mafia, just to name a few!

Fly Guy Kool Kim now NY Oil, bringing the best conscious hip-hop since the days of Public Enemy, Paris and X-Clan!

  • @canibusnj Yo, I didn't know Hass G was the same one that did "Magic Stick," that's crazy! It's good to see cats like Hass, Kwame, and other rap artists from the 90s making money on the production/songwriting tip, seeing how so many cats got done wrong by the record labels back in the day.

  • I remember LOVING this song back in '91.. still do! It just amazes me that how I considered them to be 2nd rate back then compared to my favs - but notice how they're THREE times as good as your garden-variety rapper nowadays...

  • 10 ppl probably arent from this era. it sucks to be them.

  • This brings back so many good memories of the early 90s. Good times, good times.

  • 1:06 duke was gettin it in

  • yeah

  • man i was in the ninth grade..lol

  • my shit...lol!!!de la soul, tribe called quest, fuschnickens, monee love....ah the good ol' days!!!!

  • I hadd to checkk diss out - Ocky Balboa

  • @ShawtyBrook11 word zaaaaay me tooo. its draea !

  • get out ! get out !

  • Oh Shit! Rap City! Dopeness! I loved this shit......man......BLUE CHEESE!

  • Those 10 who dislike look like that blue cheese monster.

  • this is fuckin fantastic!!.....applauds!!!100bill/100bill

  • This video could never be made today. Rap videos these days are all about cliches with not an ounce of creativity or originality.

  • spin 360 degrees for blue cheese.

  • I don't know where they went but all I care about is the 808's the left behind...lol

  • I still have the 12"...poster boys for the "do what you do." early 90's...bummer how things turned out.

  • sweeeeeeeeeeet as hell!

  • I remember when people clowned on them, calling them the fake kid n play lol

  • @Rustyparapper They were talking about their dance moves and concepts but everybody was doing that at that time

  • This album was dope! Remember the 2nd album when they tried 2 be all hardcore?! HA! HA! HA!

  • I BAN TODAYS RAP...THIS IS THE ONLY MUSIC I WILL ACCEPT OF BEING HIP-HOP!!!

  • this was one of my favorites...

  • Claassic I had this casette single.

  • hey im from amsterdam and here we got a verry strong weed called

  • Creativity is now gone from rap game no longer is it fun its all about a hustle evry m-f'n mc gotta be hustlin' kilos of coke. non-conceptual non-intellectual everybodys either criminal or sexual. fake azz fuks

  • amen to thegnarliebrown!!!

    UMC's !! i still have this tape n 12"!!

  • thank God for youtube

  • @ 1:26 "When I elaborate..." like the flow there.

  • i love this tune

  • These heads were reppin' Shoalin before the Wu,they even mentioned it on the album.lol

Respect due to the most underrated year in hip hop history--1991.You had the debuts of

    Naughty by Nature,LONS,UMCs,Organized Konfusion,Del,Main Source,Cypress Hill,Show & AG,Pete Rock & CL,Freestyle Fellowship,KMD,etc.More classics in that 1 year that in the last 10 in rap.lol

  • @thirdshift47 De La Soul Is Dead, Brand Nubian, ATCQ, Stetsasonic...I think that was when the J Beez were cutting tracks with Sensational/Torture, too (as Crazy Wisdom Masters). 3rd Bass, Chi Ali, Black Sheep...

  • There were plenty of dope albums that were produced by vets that year as well;I was trying to focus on heads that debut in '91(and how could I forget Black Sheep.lol)

All of those othe heads came out before '91(but I guess that you could throw Chi in the mix considering he debuted on the Black Sheep record.)

Torch had his major label debut in '93 on the JBs' '40 below trooper.'

  • @thirdshift47 Yeah, I just meant it was a good year all around, both for debuts and for the established crews. And J Beez took that break between albums, I think 1991 was around when they met Torture and started the work on the album. The record company rejected it, so it was probably 91-92 when they were pulling all that crazy noise stuff in the studio.

  • True indeed.

'J Beez with the remedy' was light years ahead of the game;even most so-called heads didn't want to fuck with it back in day.

Heads know that the real weirdo genuises of the Native Tongues weren't De La Soul, but the mighty Jungle Brothers.

  • @thirdshift47 You're not kidding. Did you ever get that Crazy Wisdom Masters 10" record that Black Hoodz put out? It was four songs from the original album sessions that either got scrapped by Warner Bros or the label made the Jungle Brothers change them for release. So great. And the song "Troopin On The Down Lo" off a compilation disc the same year as "Remedy"...almost like hip hop from another solar system entirely. I'm not sure why they've so pop in the last decade.

  • @thirdshift47 Freestyle Fellowship's first album "To Whom It May Concern" is (another) one of the great lost classics of hip hop in general and West Coast hip hop in particular. Actually, both their first two albums deserved A WHOLE LOT more burn!

  • @dawb86

    word

  • was this a rap video?Where are the ho's,rims, and angry demeanors???Ohhhh this is REAL rap.forgot for a sec.thanks for the post.

  • @unixriver LOL, but too damn true!

  • It's just amazing how today's music is far from real music, that's what happens when people with big bucks run record company's who knows nothing about true talent and real music!!

  • CLASSIC MATERIAL...............used to love this joint back in middle school

  • Record Execs (white) had the idea, lets push Gangster Music. This music doean't make you want to kill blacks.

  • yo my style ain't changed since rap began I keep it ALL THE WAY REAL YALL.SUB-ZERO..check me out on myspaceChicago, not the one in Cali.I'm THEE ORIGINAL SUB-ZERO!!

  • Im preparing for landin'

  • i don't love .......classic

  • Real hip hop

  • I love this song thanks for posting.

  • The reason rap may sux today is simple because rappers are slaves they can't be real with themselves so they have to a person who can't talk about nothing pos but just talk about money and blunts that is so dam sad.But we do have a lot of Gospel rap that is creative and nice to listen to.

  • new rap sux!!!

    I miss the 9Os music a lot...

  • REAL B-BOY SHYTE!! iUSED TO BOUNCE OFF OF THIS!

  • i miss this music.new rap sucks!!!!

  • I agree....the new rap sux

  • All of us saying that the new rap sux need to become talent scouts and put better artists on the mic. They're out there, they're just underground. Like unsigned status.

  • @MyCurly08 Fyi, sayn new rap sux is disrespek to NY Oil (A.K.A. Kool Kim)..PEACE, 1UV, n FREEDOM

  • ol boy in the blue shirt kinda look like jamie foxx a lil bit?!?

  • Where did this kind of music go? This is classic. surely tops that fake music today.

  • Amen. And the funny thing about it was this isn't even the best song on the album. I have been listening to this again and again for the last week. People had things to say back then and had fun saying it.

  • wow they are good but i noticed a great change in thier muzik from thier fruits of nature album esspecially blue cheese compared to unleashes time to set it straight

i kno times were different but they lost a good bit ov thier credibillity bcuz ov thier change its unfortunate cuz they were good

  • @TheGnarlieBrown you are s right

  • @TheGnarlieBrown Oh this music apparently still lives in Canada: /watch?v=RYD8Ct0vwjA

  • OMG I thought this was lost forever I was in high school when this came out shit I feelold now my kids are just busting a gut laughing at this video but good old times .

  • hip hop the way i like it

  • The memory this song brings up: being on my high school hip hop dance team and performing to this song. FUN!

  • he's now NY OIL for those who dont know

  • Wow! It's almost 20 years since this video got released, & it's the first time I've ever watched it. One to Grow On is my favorite track of theirs. I went to school with Cool Kim, now NY Oil. He's a real good guy who occasionally visits my co-workers & I at my job. Thanks so much for posting this. Means a lot!

  • I love this song and this group. Real hip hop at its best

  • WOW this brings me back to middle school. i still own this album on cassette. damn its crazy music use to be so fun and real back in the 90's. now everyone just wants to talk sh*t and brag about how much money they have, i could careless that fiftycent is rich, his money isnt doing anything for me or my family or my community

  • I was born in 1993, and for some reason I miss the 90's so much

  • It was a simpler time period, when America wasn't as messed up as now.

  • memories(wow)!!!!!!

  • wait, what?! NY Oil was in UMCs? Holy shit

  • haha the whistle sound in the beginning is used on Power 106!

  • Wow look @ mini - NYoil lol I used to love this song.

  • All imma say is this joint was underrated then and still is now.. that beat is sick.. I don't care what anybody thinks.!!! Throw this on at a club and ppl start dancing... oh wait a minute ppl don't dance anymore. they just stand there and look at each other.

  • For some reason this song just always stuck with me since i first heard it. The came to Dallas and i went to see them, but down here the majority had switch to ganster rap So me and my cousin seemed to be the only ones that where into their set. Then blue cheese came on and People stated get on the stage Dancing. UMCs just left the stage. Then It was confirmed to me that Hip Hop had shifted from the fun style to Ganster.

  • can anybody believe that? mscherryj1 just tried to check me and say that WE KNOW REAL HIP HOP and then turns around and say that the gza said "the dumb is mostly intrigued by the drum" when anybody who knows the triumph wu joint knows that masta killa said that line. how dare she try to do me in and she dosent even have her facts in order? help her someone

  • U did get checked. Deal with it. I see I made you check to see what was really good though. Yeah I slipped and said the wrong man but I was still withthe right team. Again take yo panties out yo ass man. Again who cares if you don't like the song. I am not going to keep playing kiddie posts with you. Its obvious that this is your lively hood. This is my past time.

  • no you got checked...your creditability was shot the minute you start talking shit and was wrong as hell...so yeah im up in a bunch because i hate when dumb asses try to check me...and yes i enjoy discussing hip hop with real heads from all over so this is my lively hood...but you started with me personally so its you that has nothing to do...i just was making a general statement/opinion. go past the time fucking with someone else

  • All thatname calling..In appropriate. You showing your true age right there. Get over it dude. I already told you, I won't go back there with this. You call yourself a Lord act like one. All the swearing..about a song...IS IT that serious?? I guess for you yes it is. Again I don't care if you like the song, you have made your point and I have made mine. DO NOT hit me with this anymore.

  • it was serious enough to make you bother me first though right? you shouldntve been bothering me personally. and if you call yourse
