Ive seen these guys a couple of times & they are hit & miss concerning a good show I saw them last yr wirh the Melvins & the Melvins Blew them off the stage it was no contest BHS Sucked it real bad but the Melvins made up for it
I love the butthole's, I been listen to them for 15 years or so seen them in houston ( lived there for 25 years) seen them live once I was triping on some acid (i'm much to old for that now!!!) that was when I meet Gibby he said "are you alright" I said yea he said " how many are you on" I said 3 he said " I on 8" it was a bad ass show!!!!

@Furrymeatball you have a bad ass name... but i must say if i saw you on my kitchen floor i would have to smash you.. nothing would please me more then to smash a fury meatball to this song right now. please dont take offence to that!!!
It would be awesome to see them in concert. This song off one of my favorite albums "Locust Abortion Technician" coming in close second to "Hairway to Steven."
Great band. Listened to them since mid 80s and saw them early 90s in melbourne. LAT is a good record but the first time i heard their first ' a brown reason for living ' scared the shit out of me as 15 yr old ie shah sleeps, hey .. . I thought what tha ? and then psychic powerless just went deeper.Their 2 best in my opinion. would love to see them again in melbs.
Locust album is the best and it holds a special part in my collection. These guys are great, this is the core lineup the original, I've been a fan since late eighties and I cant wait to see them in atlanta this year, im counting the days.
i saw butthole surfers in glasgow and ill always remeber it because of the 1st band that opend fpr them... a big fat singer dressed in a latex apron humping the moniters with a pig nose... and 2 fat women from texas trying to eat me
I saw them in 1991 and it was the most profound experience of my life up to that point. Like a bacchanalian cleansing of the deepest recesses of my sick middle class mind.
I first saw BHS at the Lone Star Amphitheater probably in 1991. I never could have described the experience as well as you just did. You nailed it. I've had the pleasure of seeing them 4 more times, each a good experience.
Sometimes I feel embarrased that I named my only son after Gibby (Gibson), Gibby being someone Ive only shook hands with and seen preform a handfull of times, but then I hear his genius and am quickly comforted.
hes gonna have a tough life from the people who dont get it.... which will be lots ........ but he's probably already born now... soooo ...good luck gibby u'll need it :S
I can't even contain my absolute devotion to this band. My youth was the Butthole Surfers. I heard Independant Worm Saloon at 12 or so and I was done for. And then their backcatalog blew that AWAY! BHS for LIFE!
man the butthole surfers are so fucking awesome. there is nothing that sounds like them or ever will. original mother fucking mind blowing LSD induced music. classic!
Maybe update the description? They're like, touring again and stuff. I'm seeing them this monday-week. Totally jazzed; hope they play Push th' Little Daisies.
YOU SAY NEXT TO LAST CONCERT, well they are back,Not only are they back But jeffs on bass and Teresa is back double drumming with king. Ok so also they have a school of rock style kid band with them, But fucking hell i dont care its the BUTTHOLE SURFERS
At least the Teresa-replacement is paying her homage.Where are all of the bootleg live show videos ?? They must be out there. OK people start digitizing your VHS footage you shot of them back in the day...
(I'm thinking about the unreal show at The Brooklyn Academy of Music and then The Globe in NYC around Halloween, The Lyric NYC,etc. Mid to late 80's ???) I really hope someone was taping. Thanks.
I have that Blind Eye Sees All vid..........It was on the market years ago! Plus seen them 10 times live. Also they just picked up that last drummer at the end. King Coffey was going solo for awhile after she left.
Yeah the WORLD !! What a trip. At the end of the show someone gets on the mic and they are like "Hey, everybody we are having a riot over on Avenue C at the blah blah blah squat. Please come show your support and throw bottles at the cops." It was total anarchy when the surfers dropped their vibe into your city. Jah Bless them. I think the BAM show was the most high-brow moment for them. It was sublime.
Yeah, especially with the World Saxophone Quartet w/African drummers opening the show in that beautiful opera house -- and old guys in tweed jackets in the audience. A crazy, crazy night.
there was the naked room at the world. everyone was naked and it was dark so when you felt around for the light switch or when you went to put your cigarette out, you understand.
Teresa (NO H!) was not booted. She left the band in 1989 because of health problems most likely related to strobe lights. There's a story that goes something like: Teresa was at a neurologist & he's asking her if she's had any exposure to flashing lights & she replies "Doc, you've got no idea".
I do not know the exact neurological condition, but their new shows are markedly light on the strobes with her drumming again. Teresa is drumming again with the Surfers!!! O M G ! And Pinkus is back!
This isn't the best performance by a long way, but Human Cannonball is one of the best songs ever written. Buy Locust Abotion Technician if you don't already have it.
