The malocchio and the "I love you" sign are actually different gestures. Admittedly, there is little variance, but it is still there. As for KISS's influence, it is great and nearly unfathomable. Half the metal musicians out there got started playing along to KISS records. However, they have hit a lot of rocky patches (i.e. selling out, kicking out Ace Frehley, and Gene's greediness), and I am afraid that this is one piece of rock history that they cannot take credit for.
Actually, there is a difference. The I love you sign is similar only with the thumb sticking outward. The sign that Dio is talking about is with the thumb covering the middle and ring finger. I believe that's correct.

The malocchio and the "I love you" sign are actually different gestures. Admittedly, there is little variance, but it is still there. As for KISS's influence, it is great and nearly unfathomable. Half the metal musicians out there got started playing along to KISS records. However, they have hit a lot of rocky patches (i.e. selling out, kicking out Ace Frehley, and Gene's greediness), and I am afraid that this is one piece of rock history that they cannot take credit for.

i know dio says he invented the horns sign ,, but i know that gene simmons invented this sign ...kiss came out 3 or 4 years before dio did ,,dio came out with rainbow and sabbath in the late 70's ..where as kiss came out in 73...i've seen early pics of gene simmons doing the horns...simmons is right when he says "whatever" dio says .....
