This took me so many tries on my first play-through. His attacks are very weak and actually, are somewhat easy to dodge. The factors that make this boss so difficult are his defense, his inconvenient weaknesses (only in Zero's case, as the oaf made out of lead FALLS on you when you hit him with Ensuzian), and the time factor. When playing any "Mega Man X" game, just "X" though, not the original, a certain thing about the games makes it feel like you're being timed; hence, you act rashly.

Man, I remember being scared as hell when I explored one of those nightmare stages, and fighting out that freakin HIGH MAX was the guy I was supposed to fight!!

Seriously, the game designers made a big mistake by allowing you to fight him before you even get the weapon needed to beat him. What did you all feel when you first discovered that you could fight him in the nightmare stages?

It was hell! I had to use zero to defeat him since the second stage had some weird jump that I could not do with X. That meant that I used Zero once again to get rid of Gate!

@MEGAMLT you can use blade armor. equip yourself with the ultimate buster part. use your charged buster on him and he will stunned for a while then use your charged weapon on him to reduce his HP. Do this until he dies. I recommend using the Ray Arrow and Ground Dash

I think the game designers did that to make you think High Max is unbeatable... you know to coincide with the fight against him in the intro.

I was shocked as hell because I assumed he REALLY was a good guy, I figured you had to fight him, but as a good vs good type of fight. I was stuck for about a year, then I figured out that as Zero I could hurt him, and I never found out How to use X to EVEN DENT HIM.
