Not bad for a junkie waster whose band are apparently a mess live.

When Babyshambles keep themselves straight they're one of the best British bands around. The current indie and alternative rock scene in the UK couldn't be any more generic but Babyshambles keep crossing new genres. They're as comfortable playing mellow chilled out rock as they are full blown garage or punk.

Of course though, a full blown Libertines reunion is what everyone wants.

Yeah i guess the new versions are a bit commercial but he needs to pay the bills and if he was going to make a cd that appealed to the masses and with radio 1 playability then i suppose they had to scrafice some of that intimacy you get from his demos.

I heard hes even thinking about making his second solo attempt another compliation of the old songs which havent been officially released yet. I would still buy it but i really hope it doesnt meen hes losing his ability to write fresh classics.

Personally i believed there boths were both channelled properly with the aid of the other, and i think its eivdent theyre needing each otehr more and more in there music, those 2 together is a force unstoppable, but im afraid them apart is a little fire that i slowly going out, dont get me wrong im a big pete fan, but thats how i feel with it all

i think it was quite similar to lou reed's transformer in that it was essentially a jazz album released by an influential alternative/punk musician. both albums were critically well-received and contained new versions of old songs. it does work if handled by the right musician.
