  • set sail for epic fail XD

  • The crew on trapeze gets dunked and loses his footing. After that, everything else is just the inevitable capsize playing out - it wasn't saveable.

The power boat is there to take the footage, so you can't blame them for getting in close!

It's not a crash, it's not loss of control of the tiller or the mainsheet, it's not the "knucklehead" in the camera boat, quite simply the crew got "teabagged" and then it was all over except for the spectacular capsize.

  • The skipper slipped up and lost the tiller extension and the mainsheet. I've done it myself. The powerboat really didn't cause this capsize.

  • windit!

  • murphys law in practice.when one thing goes wrong, everything that could fail, fails.

  • knucklehead launch's wash hit the helmsman and knocked him out of the cockpit. Just shows to go ya that power boaters and sailors don't mix.

  • The A**hole in the power boat knocked the helmsman off his perch. 9 out of 10 powerboaters are knuckle draggin' mouth breathers!

  • ahahahaha

  • this is no crash this is capsize noob

  • omg, that's the wave of the boat that make capsize the boat

  • @afterburnerpak That is WAKE not wave.

    cheers

  • @teb0atoz sorry my english isn't that good :D

  • @afterburnerpak It wasnt exactly the wave that caused it. The wave just nuged the Helm who lost control of the tiller. And it definatly is wake. You can see it coming off the outboard of the powerboat in that triangular wakey motion( You know what i mean )

  • wow. and ya, that wasn't a crash. that was a capsize

  • nice hiking

  • thats a capsize not a crash

  • worst things happen at sea !!

  • Lee rail under; sure. Both rails under; not so much.

  • The 505 should have been in the olympics instead of the 470

  • those boats are nothing like the laser, they are 2 person dinghys

  • trottels

  • nah its jut that the boat started to ride the camera boats wake, the crew fell inside the boat, the boat then healed to leeward causing them to round up and flip

  • the 505 is like one of the bigger sized lasers or am i mistaken?

  • yes, very much so. the 505 is nothing like a laser and is not built by laser.

  • What about a laser 2? Just asking.

  • yeah i think defiantly got swamped by camera power boat lol

  • quite a lot of roll on that tack, hah

  • looks like the camera boat swamped them.

  • what are 505's and 420's what do the numbers mean?

  • Length in centimeters. 420 = 4 meters and 20 centimeters

  • ahhhh, thanks!

  • arkadaşlar yöremizin en güzel seslerinden biri sefa güneşi dinlemenizi tavsiye ederim toyuğu çalanı çok güzel okumuş yüreğimizin sesi bu sanatçımıza destek olun sahip çıkın herkese slm

  • effyleven - broaching is a downwind phenomenon.

Meanwhile, the crew here has his weight mostly on his back leg - poor form, IMO. Look at the way he's dancing his front foot - dear oh dear. It's not surprising he gets knocked off.

  • Watch the masthead closely.. The trapeze clip come out of the sail as he gets knocked down.... he had no safety support in this accident

  • One, the trapeze isn't connected to the sail. Two, you want to be disconnected from the trap if the boat goes over, trust me. The ISAF has now made it mandatory that all trap harnesses have a quick-release as opposed to a closed clip.

  • one of the boats that i sail then is illegal. it has a closed clip. I meant connected to the masthead

  • Ya its not a big deal on a boat like the 5-0 where it doesn't turtle easily, but something like a laser 2 will go upside almost immediately if you fall on trap

  • it's easily recovered..... Olympic 49s are harder to recover!!!!! Especially with outrigging !!!!

  • you know the Mv Napoli that ran aground in Branscombe bay in Dorset... that was near my house. i have seen the ship and it is huge!!!!!

  • dude this video looks to be of the older sort, so dont be go on about the quick release trap harnesses.

  • LOL.

  • classico...

  • lol that can happen to any one, its happened to me. its just if you tak and you get caught in the sweal

  • Done that before :P

  • That was entirely the rescue boats fault.

  • That happens all the time in high winds.....You wouldn't call it a "crash"

    Its a CAPSIZE.....!

  • stupid

  • thats normal for sailing, but the music is insane!

  • Stupid camera crew...

  • that must have hurt at 4 miles per hour

  • whens the crash??

    all they did was capsize

  • Not a big deal....if this happenened to me on my boat it would be. Right the thing and keep going. Does show you that things can go bad fast. Thanks for posting. What's with the scream?

  • tis a knockdown, not a capsize

  • lol could you get anymore annoying music into this clip please? the nazgul like screaming at the end was not dramatic enough, where are the sounds of huddled masses being gunned down? that would more amply describe this tragedy in an audio form.

  • Knockdonw is on a yacht with a keel. If it was a knockdown, the boat would come straight back up again.

  • That kind of loss of control, where the craft trips over her own centreplate, is what we call "a broach" or "broaching".

  • Only in yachts or keelboats

  • that wasnt a crash... only a capsize...

  • wtf i mean they just capsized

  • Pink Floyd playing, not a typical choice of music for sailing vids! haha! Anyway, wtf is the powerboat doing?

  • Filming. I assume they know eachother. Anyhow, no big deal. Right the boat, keep sailing. Sure looked like they were having fun.

  • Some motorboats should just get lost ! The driver should learn to drive and get a life. 505s are not easy things to handle and even less forgiving.

  • ke haces che komo va :P

soi de bs as argentina, recien vi tu komentario... un abraso.. vos de donde sos?

  • Sometimes things happen when you power up, like the rudder comming out of the water.

  • if you are the power boat drive LEARN TO DRIVE

  • Awesome job on this! Reminds me of the days I once sailed 505's on San Francisco Bay! Always hanging on for life in that bay!

  • Typical French driving if you ask me!! Funny though

  • What do you expect, they're french. Always a wee bit crazy. Ohhheeehoug heehunnng may weee may wee trigggaaar.

  • i saw that coming.. lol.. happened to me before..

  • Looks like the guy who teabagged falls all over the tiller, causing the sustained hard turn to starboard and the accidental tack. Continued turning to a reach with the sails trimmed tight and both crew on the lee side, the boat of course capsizes.

  • ..the wake from the powerboat caught the guy on the trapeeze, causing him to get dragged off the side of the hull into the water (a teabag). The boat then proceeded to capsize to windward.

The main cause of the capsize or "Crash" was that the crew was knocked of the side from the trapeeze, and disturbing the balence of the boat, in a dramatic way. :D

  • hey buddy if you knew anything about sailing you would know that the guy that was traping (sailing lingo) teabagged (more lingo) into the wake then swung into the boat and that caused them to capsize. no crrash ever occured

  • shame on the guy in the powerboat -the two were really great until he smashed it with his stern wave

  • its an International 505

  • What class of boat is this?
