are keypads slowly being fased out? Is using software to make phone calls really that annoying? MY main importance is having gps on foot. FOr that i could get away with a smaller screen smartphone. AM i best sticking with the larger 3" screens? is thhe htc the best at the moment
Ok. My sister (but I also use it sometimes) has been using this phone for 6 months and I can tell some of the minuses.Minuses:
1)Sometimes it takes 1 minute to phone to her. Don't know what's wrong
2)Lags. Especially when you loaded a lot of programs.
But it got pluses:
1)Big screen
2)One of the best GPS
3)Good CPU
Well, I decided to buy an ASUS P750 because it's a bit stronger, it has a keyboard and it doesn't have such problems like e-ten products do. I'll buy in a 1-2 months
this mobile device is aight, but sorry my HTC Kaiser still is a lot better than this phone to me especially in design and looks! I can tell they didnt get much sales with this device... Anyway my next purchase will be the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1... SSOO HHOOOTTTT!!!!!
I agree the TyTn II is a better device, minus the QVGA screen, but the X800 has some nice features, although the 64mb was a drag, but overall its a really solid device, and it actually have a nice build factor.
Have you tried playing music on this phone? Is the sound loud enough? Do you recommend buying this device? I just ordered one but I'm not sure if I should cancel my order for the HTC Touch Cruise... Please let me know :) Thanks
I actually found the speaker to be loud, if you mean the onboard sound its good, but I agree its a little soft. As far as the headphones, I haven't found a pair of headphones that come with a phone to be the best out there yet, they do the job though.
The sounds is good on the device, and the speaker is nice and loud, I would recommend it, unless you want to spend around $800 for a tytn II, or wait for the new MWG devices to hit the market.
the thing that annoys me is that they purphousely made the old wm5 sat nav software not compatible with wm6 just to force people to upgrade. Co pilot live will not work with the new wm5. THey could of made it compatible but just forcing people to upgrade expensive software.
Yeah, I tend to talk to much, but seeing as this was the first full look at the device pretty much worldwide I wanted to preview it at the time more than fully review it, at the time I had only been using the device for 4 days, mind you I used them alot, but it was a preproduction unit and I had to give it back soon afterwards
I agree, the 64mb of Ram is behind phones like the Tytn II and others that are emerging, but the device worked fine with 3rd party applications, I wouldn't suggest running 5 programs at once on the device because of the Ram.
Hi James, LOVE your reviews: keep em coming. Think you can hit me up with some of those free devices ;) ? My only problem with the Tytn II is that although the device has 3D/Video acceleration capability on the chipset HTC has chosen for some reason to keep it disabled. The CDMA Touch is loverly too...but it's CDMA. The iPhone will forever be a dumb-phone to me until Apple completely opens it up. Can I never win? PS: It's obvious now: Apple is the new "Microsoft".
I agree! Have you seen the new Google Android OS? I can't wait for it to really hit the shelves, a nice simple interface with the ability to integrate applications! Who can ask for more. The Touch Cruise should be a nice upgrade for the GSM side of things!
The capabilities of the Android OS have me salivating; I'm curious to see the hardware requirements (seems pretty minimalistic in true Google fashion). The Cruise for some reason doesn't "do it" for me aesthetically altho spec-wise it's up to snuff.
Not sure if it helps but.. I think its 64MB RAM + 176MB Storage. I dont think you can store data on the 64MB. On my previous PDA you can slide between storage and ram, here.. you can't --which i found it as a catch, coz i usually put the ram to the max and store data on SDcard.
So its almost like having 224MB PDA with the memory-storage slider fixed at 64MB --despite that 64MB seems to be enough for memory, i wish i could control this (and pusih it 128 for ram haha)
i desperately need help changing the language.
I have no idea what language mine is in.
i want it to be in eglish but i cant find how.
Help!please & thank you

WinXp? Its a mobile device not a UMPC so...no. I have never dropped it, I try to avoid that, there is always a chance it would break.

64MB RAM is terrible (any power user will tell you that). Only reason this isn't worth it.
