I am studying this book for my pre-ap English class (I am a freshman) and I absolutely hated this book at first! I was so wrong because this is the best book I have EVER read and it is my all time favorite now. The movie is great to and is my favorite movie but I must say the book is MUCH better than the movie!

I agree I read the book in jr. high then we watched the movie and I thought Gregory Peck was exactly how I pictured Atticus. Actually I pictured Scout the same way too, all the actors were well cast.

Atticus isn't meant to be "perfect" in that sense. He is the definition of justice. He is equal, he is swift, and he is unrelenting. You can't have somebody who represents justice be majorly flawed in some way, even if that is realistic.
