Trevdog you could build foam under your shorter foot which may help balance you out. Can you get someone to video you from the front and the side and add it to youtube and I will have a look and add some comments. Cheers Ian
can anyone help me with a problem i have while kayaking? my one side of my body is longer than the other ( my left leg is 5/8ths of an inch shorter than my right leg) and its extremly frusturating because i end up leaning to the left and my right leg is really bent while my left leg is straight. any suggestions for evening my legs out?? thanks much appreciated :)
he has very good technique just few things needs improvement... he has very good rotation and feet change... he needs thought hand not to fall down when rotating has began and and the blade that is going in the water must not get so much into the water.. it has to be parrapile to water... :)
A great video, with really useful and informative commentary. Thank you for a very helpful instructional article. Definitely this paddler's technique appears to be very uninformed as maybe never received coaching or spent the time checking all the incredibly educational high quality info here on the 'net
what about... siting straight more.....what about not bending ur wrist and pushing forward....WHAT ABOUT using ur back muscles more and turning more more................................................GREAT VIDEO!! haha wow take care
I would say that the catch is too far back and not properly planted. That instead of the exiting blade arcing up to the ear while the forward blade stays still, then spearing the catch with the pushing arm, it looks to me like both blades rotate together, the catch side going down as the exiting side rises, so that the catch hits the water with movement instead of spearing cleanly in, and enters too far back from the feet.
hmm.. im seeing your top hand is abit low, and that you should get abit more twist. i belive that you could also rate abit lower alowing for a better setup for the next stroke. also he says that they lean foward but you shouldent you should sit up straight wich alows you to move alot more and do more with your paddeling
Thanks loads for the Post. Really useful stuff. Im just starting out. It seems the young lad has his arms much more bent than the olympian. Should I be keeping my lower arm straight at the catch? Thanks

Maybe just adjust the foot pegs so they are uneven?

I'm sorry, but your paddling technique is tragic.

I hope you were able to help this paddler Ian, if he got your message he'd have to be 15-20% faster @ least

He uses very much his arms, but it's a good a basic for the nice technique.....
But the time on 1000 mts. is not so good. I'm going 3.40, and i'm the one of the slowest juniors in Hungary.. :(
Good luck, guys!! ;)
