The reason this is fucking disgusting is because Street Spirit is a fucking depressing song. It's insanely emotional and incredibly deep. This doesn't capture that AT ALL. It just doesn't work AT all.

Radiohead tend to play this at the end of their sets because it rattles tom so much emotionally, its meant to be a very dark song. Some things should be left to exist the way they were created I think. Still, The Darkness are definitely a cool band.

Oh man, that's slaughtering the original. It just sounds a mess. The song doesn't need to be sped up, if you want to turn it into a metal/hard rock song I'd just add distortion as it's a pretty cool riff, but it sounds lame as hell here, especially odd how they play the riff so high as well. The singing is atrocious. He's all over the place. Works in The Darkness songs, but just does not work here.
well why don't you do a metal cover of it then, bearing in mind if you play all those open notes with heavy distortion you'd hardly be able to distinguish one from the other.. it would sound crap.
open notes? I don't even get what you mean. The song is a chord with a finger picking pattern. The chord changes occasionally throughout the song. I'm only a beginner when it comes to guitar so explain what you mean.
If they just played the same open chords as in the proper song using distortion it would sound all muddy and you wouldn't be able to make out the second notes, which is why they changed it into a riff on 1 or 2 strings.

Oh man, that's slaughtering the original. It just sounds a mess. The song doesn't need to be sped up, if you want to turn it into a metal/hard rock song I'd just add distortion as it's a pretty cool riff, but it sounds lame as hell here, especially odd how they play the riff so high as well. The singing is atrocious. He's all over the place. Works in The Darkness songs, but just does not work here.

well why don't you do a metal cover of it then, bearing in mind if you play all those open notes with heavy distortion you'd hardly be able to distinguish one from the other.. it would sound crap.

open notes? I don't even get what you mean. The song is a chord with a finger picking pattern. The chord changes occasionally throughout the song. I'm only a beginner when it comes to guitar so explain what you mean.

If they just played the same open chords as in the proper song using distortion it would sound all muddy and you wouldn't be able to make out the second notes, which is why they changed it into a riff on 1 or 2 strings.

Not a big fan of the darkness but i am an avid fan of Radiohead, this was actually alright. I liked how they included one riff from "Just" as well, that was clever.

Even if it sounds good, the genre won't match the lyrics. The song I believe was to show darker emotions.
The darkness seems like a bad option to cover this song.

I think this version is still true to the intent. The despair is still there. Ultimately, it's artistic interpretation. I, for one, am happy to have heard this, and so are some others. Don't listen if you don't like it. You're wasting time tearing others down. Get off your high horse, mate.

Your are COMPLETELY not getting the joke. Sure, The Darkness was fun and silly but they stay have MAJOR rocking skills. Radiohead is amazing but who wants every band to be sad and serious. Get over it and lighten up.

The Darkness are everything I hate about rock music. The showiness. The ego's. The lack of anything important to say. The non existant talent.
Compare this to Radiohead. They are an understated band who don't go in search of the limelight, yet they have had more influence on world music than Justin Hawkins can ever dream of.
This cover wasn't so much brave as it was utterly stupid and ignorant.

I absolutely loved this version. It rocked, it was scorching, it was dark, it was the darkness at its best. those tight-ass powerchords, the vocals... this is better than radiohead's. RH is soft, and are not able to show off this song as it should..
