Back in an era when musicians we're talented and real synths were used (and played live). Gosh, look what we have now - Korg Triton preset 297, and a midi backing track using some crap GM saxaphone.
Sorry to nag...but im abit old school. I also think music production sounded better on the old analog desks/eq/effects.
@DIGITALSCREAMS - What's really odd is that it's all pricey US handmade synths back then and now everyone uses mostly 'cheap' factory-made Japanese synths (Korg, Roland, Yamaha)..
this is music! these are the obscure gems I look for. Anyone know what synthesizer they use? I want to make good music like them. Could I achieve this sound with a microkorg xl?
I've only played with a MicroKorg, so assuming the XL is a "Better" version of the Micro...I'm sure you can program sounds similar to those in this video, but certainly not exact or really close replicas.

確かにギターは、今は亡き、大村憲司さんです。懐かしいですね。教授、すごく背が高く見えますね。

Oberheim 8 voices - Sequential circuits Prophet 5
Polymoog - A big Moog 55 Unit - Maybe an Arp Odyssey and some other stuff
Big Old Analogic Sound....A million Light Years better than our Samplerized stuff of today...

I totally agree...Hardware synths and Analog consoles & tape machines for the win!

@DIGITALSCREAMS and that is why the Chemical Brothers returned to analog synths on Further, so agree

By the way, where can I purchase one of those YMO shirts they're wearing : )
Discfiend69 3 years ago
I think they were giving away this shirts for YMO 25th anniversary CD? I remember they were selling with CD when I went to Tokyo 5 years ago.
or try Yukihiro Takahashi's store in Tokyo called "the bricks" because he is the designer of the shirts!
