what if you want a guitar that gives you best of both worlds something that combines a acoustic and electirc in the right way, is there a guitar like that?
My first guitar was a hand-down from my grandpa, a Lyon by Washburn, and ive been playing it for about 5 years now, and i want to move onto a new one, and im 14 years old with no job, but getting plenty of money for Christmas and bday (they are next to each other) i get about an average of $300 so far on guitar center ive found a ESP LTD EC-10, and a Epiphone Les Paul Special II, for under 200, should purchase one of these, if any other choice please a guitar under $300
I got a fender strat at guitar center for maybe $500 not to bad. Well I think it was on sale but, I love it it is a great guitar sounds nice I love it. This is not word for word bit Jimmy page pretty much said buy a good guitar and you'll have a better experience. Not100% sure what he actually said but I was something like that
I have been playing a 80$ Santana Steel string acoustic guitar for 3 years, and want to move on to electric. I am interested in the Pink Floyd sound, and I have seen their guitarist (David Gilmour) mainly plays the Fender Stratocaster. But thats too expensive for me, so what about the Squier strat ?
A ESP LTD line of guitar would be fine. Just get one of those (Whatever alphabet series it is) - 50 guitar. Those are pretty cheap and are really nice to play with.
Personally, I own a LTD M-50, it is a superstrat style guitar. It kinda have the best of both worlds from the Les Paul type (pickup configuration) and the strat style (string tension). Intending to do a pickup swap to my guitar someday. However, if I were to get another guitar, I will still get a superstrat.
@creativeguitarstuido what is that pickup on the strat behind the original bridge pickup? Its black and connects to the guitar. Any info on this is appreciated. Thanks
heeyy bro im 14 and ive been playing with a classical nylon string and im getting bored with it and i can play like a medium level i like playing jack johnson songs and stuff like that so what sort of guitar should i be looking for around 100 - 300 dollars?
@JeffHardyDarkSideV2 part 6(if you get this comment first please dont read any of my other comments untill you read the very first one i sent u, i have numbered them, so read them the way i nmbered them). wow this took wayyyy longer than i thought, but over all, you have to like the shape, sound, colour, and also the sound of it, before you buy it( i for got to say, all the guitars a have mentioned are 220$ or less), if you have any questions, feel free to ask anything, im always up for helping
@JeffHardyDarkSideV2 part 5( if you get this comment first, please refer back ti the first comment i sent to you, it will make much more sence) but NEVER EVER buy a guitar u havent tryed out, you have to likr the feel of it, it has to be very comfortable, and also, you have to like the look of it and the colour, if you local guitar store has a guitar you like but you dont like the colour, dont say"oh yea...i like it its perfect" (even tho you dont likr it, and u dont wanna sound picky)
@JeffHardyDarkSideV2 part 4 the epiphone sg special is PERFECT because it can play anything, BUT heavy metal and really counryish stuff, its still has great, unconfuzing controls, and its best for> ac/dc, and that style of music. and last guitar is the epiphone les paul special, it is best for hard rock/heavy rock/metal/heavy metal (ozzy, metallica, slipknot, pantera, nickleback, les zeppelin) the les paul has a very rich, 'darker'(bassier) sound to it, but can still handle the clean tones well.
@JeffHardyDarkSideV2 part 3... it all depends on the style of music your goin for, like i said a squire, is really good for country/blues/rock (jimi hendrix, eric clapton, rollingstones) because its got a pretty bright sound, really clear and jangley, and plus its got a really basic and simple set up that will never confuse you> but if you wanna play blues/rock/hard rock/heavy rock (ac/dc, black sabbath, eric clapton, led zeppelin) the sg is PERFECT, its the best gutar because it can play......
@JeffHardyDarkSideV2 part 2..... and if you dont already have an amp, i would recomenda line6 amp, and for begginers, 15 watts is perfect(watts is how you measure how loud the amp is) but if your playing over a drum kit, 40-60 watts may do the trick - for a begginer, but to be safe, id say 75 watts will easyly be loud enough for a band>> now back to the guitars<< the fender squire is probably the most popular guitar, but remember what i said in my first comment, it all depends on the style u are
@JeffHardyDarkSideV2 hi i saw this comment and figured i could help you:) now, it all depends on what kind of music you are gonna playif your going to play heavy metal(metallica, slipknot, black label socitey) your gunna want an epiphone les paul special, its pretty good for a beginners point of view, and also, an epiphone SG is great for more hard rock/metal/blues, and the epiphone les paul special is also good for blues or jazz too, but if your in a blues/rock/country a fender squire is awsom
I bought an electro-acoustic guitar which looked very nice, for about 200$, just because of appearance and when i played it for the first time it sounded horrible, even with an amp. I tryed to change strings and nothing.. Then i bought a nylon srings guitar for 60$ and it sounds very good, so don't buy your guitar because of appearance...
I have an acoustic, but thinking of get my first electric. I'm on a tight budget, and my friend suggested I get a squire pack! Is that a good option for beginners?
hello, i want to buy a guitar. i dont know nethng about guitars but i want to buy and learn it. iam 19 yrs. please help me out ,how should i proceed.??
@kajaria22 Find a music store in your area that caters to the professional players in your area. They'll have a constant stream of great-playing trade-ins. You'll get a much better quality instrument for the same money buying used... and dealing with a real "player's" store you'll have people who care about playing watching your back.. NEVER buy instruments sight-unseen from the Internet.
ima buy my first electric and idk whats good for a reasonable price i play guitar but i know more about acoustic than electric. i was thinking between a fender tele, prs se tremonti, or an ephipone les paul standard what do u think???
can you plz help me tomorrow im gonna get my first guitar i love the acoustic guitar because when i first hear it made my ear go holy shit and when i heard the eletric guitar i said holy shit plz help what do i do!!!!!
@creativeguitarstudio I'm having a some problems picking out the right electric guitar for myself. I've already have an classical and an acoustic guitar so I would like to know what kind of electric guitar you would recommend ? Price range of 200-500. BTW I'm still a beginner .
How to buy your first guitar? I can answer that. Go into a store pay someone a lot of money and get a guitar. The video should be called how to CHOOSE your own guitar.......... I know I'm a smartass :D
Don't buy LTDs, they're to expensive for beginners, Kirk Hammet uses LTDs live goddamnit. (of course, he uses his signature ESPs more but he has some LTDs too that he uses live).
my first electric was a used moser spawn epi for $400:) if you want a really nice, very well maed guitar go with moser. they sell for about $999 brand new as a custom order. but if you find one for $600 and lower you should probably get it:)).
Just wondering but I am a rhythm player who started on acoustic and I feel that I'm at the point of proficiency where I believe that I should buy an electric. The only thing I'm not sure about is what a rhythm player should look for in an electric guitar such as pickups and anything else that makes the lead/rhythm difference. Any tips here would be helpful.
i have to disagree with one thing is that when you buy a guitar your are suppos to go off looks. you wanna buy something that makes you want to not drop your guitar and you want to play all day. great video!
@panda245y That is a pickup for the Roland Guitar Synthesizer system. It routes a six-part digital signal (one signal for each string) to a floor unit (similar to a BOSS multi-effects unit) which is the actual synthesizer. The synthesizer can do anything from simple effects processing to making your guitar sound like a completely different instrument or even an orchestra. Pretty neat system if you're looking for the ultimate in guitar versatility, but unnecessary for 98% of guitar players.
I think if you like metal you should look into the BC Rich bronze series, you can pick them up for as little as $99 used and $250-$300 new and they sound decent and look great. If you like what you get you will be more likely to learn.Just my opinion, and no Im not a BC Rich fan boy I play something else but I had one and learned alot on it.
i hate how kids have to like force themselves to practice and commit to playing guitar. i play for 3-6 hours every single day and i never get tired of it =)
An inexpensive nylon string guitar if not set up properly can be discouraging. The most important issue when beginning is the instruments set up whither it be acoustic or electric.
The truth is in regard to electric guitar packages is that based on today's competitive market you can get all you need for around $250.00.
Now that being said if one would like to pursue the electric guitar I would
simply suggest string gauges 8 - 32. And maybe even tuning down a half
i think a great electric guitar company is laguna the bodys are very light and are very comfortable and they are extremely sturdy for their prices i play a le524 and it is an extremely good guitar
I've got a lot of problems with your review, my first guitar (jackson) was 140 dollars, works fine and still does (sounds great) I don't agree with the amp (this is for electric guitar.) Practice amps usually only cost 50-80 dollars if it's solid state, don't learn how to play on a tube amp. I moved up with a squier telecaster (obey standard seires) I'd go to guitar center for the first thing if you can and look at the ones they have on the wall.
Trying to buy a guitar for our 11-year old daughter. Your video was very well done. Thanks.
The only thing that you didn't explain was the size (1/2, 3/4, full) and what the differences are between 38", 39", 40", 41".
Nice to hear you recommend Yamaha. We own a lot of their products from electronics, to a piano to a boat motor and jet skis. All of it not the cheapest but we seem to get a lot of value for the money.
For beginners, I would recommend playing steel string acoustics, it will build up your hand and wrist muscles. Which you will need when you advance and play more difficult and technical songs.
@NapoleanBonaparte32 The only problem is that it slices up they're finger tips, i remember the first time i tried steel string and my fingers started bleeding lol
That was an awesome tutorial video. I was always unsure about what guitar I should buy. I think I will go buy a acoustic Yamaha. I am going to sell me Alto to buy this acoustic guitar.
Nice video. I have an Ibanez GRG170DX and ive been playing for a bit over a year now. and my pickups are probably the WORST. And the wiring makes the 5 way selector activates only the bridge pickup when its supposed to do the middle and bridge. i was thinking about getting a Jackson JSSR30 instead of changing the pickups for the Ibanez, would you recommend that? do i deserve a jackson compared to the level I play? If you would be kind enough to let me know I would REALLY be thankfull :D
Quite a lot has to do with one's budget, a Strat is nice, however, for me personally I don't like their "off the shelf" pickups. I would remove the neck & bridge pickups and get some single coil slot humbuckers, (I like Hot rails - bridge & Cool rails - neck by "S. Duncan").
For economy guitars I like the Yamaha acoustics and the ESP (LTD Series) electrics. Just check my personal website for my "Favorite Products."
It is pretty optional.. drummers can start out hitting boxes with sticks, but it is probably more pleasurable to play on a Pearl Ex series drumset with the drums all well tuned. The same goes for guitars. You can buy a 50$ guitar that you can practise on and become a good guitarist even though it sounds horrible. I would recommend you buying a guitar you could see yourself playing in five years ahead. And go to a store and try one out, listen to how it sounds and ask your questions to the clerk.
Your video's are always really insightful. I'm currently looking for my second guitar but it feels just as nerve-racking as my first. What do you recommend for an electric guitar? Im thinking of getting a good fender strat
hey big1gangsta2clink go with the fender stratocaster i just bought the sunburst fender strat and i love it. it fells as smooth as butter........good luck choosen
if u get a fender strat i say get a hss model.i have an epi sg and a strat and i love the dark sound of a humbucker very much, but if your looking for brightness go with single coils.
Hello, im a teenager around the age of 16 and i am starting a band with some friends of mine and i wanted to be a Musician starting with Bass guitar and i am having some problems picking out the right bass guitar for me im a begineer so i reall have no clue but u seem to be a veteran at this type of stuff so what BASS guitar brand would u recoment for a noob like me within the price range of 250 - 300 dollars
There are some good starter series bass guitars made by ESP. They are called the, "LTD," series. Have a look into them, they seem to be of quite a good quality.
im actually a frontman, but i fiddle around with other instruments
like if u like some drive (ie rock, metal, ect), get an ibanez. i have a gsr200 and it sounds great all for around $200
if ur looking for something more standard sounding (ie acoustic, alternative, ect), the squier basses are not that bad, but they're like around $300 i think
all right cool i have a lot of inspirations for guitaring and always wanted a guitar since i was little so im pretty sure acoustic comes first to electric
I started many years ago with Ibanez RG series and am still playing them. Easy to up grade and a fine playing guitar overall.
As for the fastest and smoothest neck I have ever played. That would be a 1992 Yamaha Pacifica. These were the one ones with the triple truss necks. By far the most responsive and fastest guitar I have ever played. These are nearly impossible to find now as Yamaha had issues with the neck warping.
i remember my first electric was a shitty $100 ebay deal
it looked sweet as! but sounded like crap
i didnt really mind tho, as a beginner i just wanted any old thing to play on, and it definately made me admire the sound of my stratocaster that i now play
but i didnt start on a nylon acoustic which is also what i would recommend
Well, it definitely is a good Guitar. But you gotta keep in mind that beginners usually spend about 20% of what this cost on their first Guitar... or even less.
I'm a firm believer in not going cheap for a first guitar. A c-1 can be had for a few hundred or a little more and the quality is good for a beginner and it;s nowhere near a high end instrument. It is pretty darn good if you ask me though.
i remember my first guitar was a Tanglewood indiana pro series steel string. mt guitar teacher came with me to buy it and he played like 20 different ones and picked that one out for me and 6 years down the road im glad he did as only now do i realise how sweet the tone of that instrument is!
The Creative Guitar dude is a YouTube partner, and they can upload any length video they want to.
Anyway, Great Video and I agree with the Yamaha acoustics. They make amazing guitars. 100% service too... mine had cracked at the bottom 2 months into owning it & they shipped me a new one - no questions asked.
A really good beginner electric guitar is an ESP LTD M50. They are only like $238.00 (I paid that) and they play awesome. The Ibanez Gio's are supposed to be good too.
You don't have to pay anything, your YouTube channel just has to be accepted into the YouTube Partnership Program. It is free to apply, and once accepted, you have a whole host of additional benefits that are not available to non-partners.
@ultraudv > The reasons they use are a mystery... I'd say ya should have (at the very least) several thousand views per day, maybe 30 or so videos and at least 2-3000 subscribers for a start. But, like I say, it's all kind of a big mystery overall.
but why would you spend like £2000 instument you cant even play? plus he's so right about yamaha's, i bought a yamaha acoustic for £60 just to go busking with and it was truely stunning for the price, easy to play and a nice tone
my first electric was cheap and i was stuck with it for 3 years. I ritualistically burned it when i got a new guitar. Fucking huge diff. I meant dont buy the cheapest guitar u can find . ..
well yeah, you dont expect a perfect tone and feel from something that feels like its made out of kitchen worktop. my point is that you dont go out and buy a top of the line instrument that you dont know you will enjoy playing yet, regardless of if its a guitar. many cheap guitars are dodgy as you described but like he said yamaha are the best cheap guitars you can buy. i've seen pacificas changing hands for £50 and those guitars excell their performance for the money and are very very playable
with electric guitars more than others, you get what you pay for. $250-$300 guitars will be poorly made, woods will be seconds, or b-grade cuts. they will have lots of filler and poor hardware, and I think are worse for beginners since they can be discouraging to try to play on if you dont know what to expect
my first was a warped peice of shit acoustic from the salavation army lol. now i play an epiphone les paul though

Thanks again.

For beginners, I would recommend playing steel string acoustics, it will build up your hand and wrist muscles. Which you will need when you advance and play more difficult and technical songs.
NapoleanBonaparte32 2 years ago
@NapoleanBonaparte32 The only problem is that it slices up they're finger tips, i remember the first time i tried steel string and my fingers started bleeding lol
They're really rough now though x

The guitar in the fair right with the Sunburst finish, would that be an appropriate first guitar?
McShniper 2 years ago
Guitar recommendations...

WannaBeADrummur17 2 years ago
Hello WannaBeADrummur17,
There are some good starter series bass guitars made by ESP. They are called the, "LTD," series. Have a look into them, they seem to be of quite a good quality.

Isn't the LTD line like a seperate brand, sort of like Epiphone is Gibsons "cheap" brand?
NorthrendProductions 7 months ago
depends on what style of music you play
im actually a frontman, but i fiddle around with other instruments
like if u like some drive (ie rock, metal, ect), get an ibanez. i have a gsr200 and it sounds great all for around $200
if ur looking for something more standard sounding (ie acoustic, alternative, ect), the squier basses are not that bad, but they're like around $300 i think

BamBamVasian 2 years ago
Hello BamBamVasian,
I would personally, (and this is just me), never buy a guitar I've never played beforehand.
To me it's a little risky, but I'm sure thousands have done it and will continue to buy guitars online!
Thanks for watching & commenting!

Schecter makes great guitars for the money! I recommend the C-1 for beginners.
testekleez 2 years ago
Well, it definitely is a good Guitar. But you gotta keep in mind that beginners usually spend about 20% of what this cost on their first Guitar... or even less.
PaddyShadowMusic 2 years ago
I'm a firm believer in not going cheap for a first guitar. A c-1 can be had for a few hundred or a little more and the quality is good for a beginner and it;s nowhere near a high end instrument. It is pretty darn good if you ask me though.
testekleez 2 years ago
i remember my first guitar was a Tanglewood indiana pro series steel string. mt guitar teacher came with me to buy it and he played like 20 different ones and picked that one out for me and 6 years down the road im glad he did as only now do i realise how sweet the tone of that instrument is!

How do you upload videos longer than 10 minutes? I thought they stopped allowing that a while ago.
joesimmons90 2 years ago 6
Hey joesimmons90...

But, like I say, it's all kind of a big mystery overall.

dont buy cheap guitars. You will die on the inside once you come out of teh "noob stage".
tehLeecherer 2 years ago
but why would you spend like £2000 instument you cant even play? plus he's so right about yamaha's, i bought a yamaha acoustic for £60 just to go busking with and it was truely stunning for the price, easy to play and a nice tone

my first electric was cheap and i was stuck with it for 3 years. I ritualistically burned it when i got a new guitar. Fucking huge diff. I meant dont buy the cheapest guitar u can find . ..
tehLeecherer 2 years ago
well yeah, you dont expect a perfect tone and feel from something that feels like its made out of kitchen worktop. my point is that you dont go out and buy a top of the line instrument that you dont know you will enjoy playing yet, regardless of if its a guitar. many cheap guitars are dodgy as you described but like he said yamaha are the best cheap guitars you can buy. i've seen pacificas changing hands for £50 and those guitars excell their performance for the money and are very very playable
1HOLYDIVER1 2 years ago
cheap guitars have uneven fret spacing - sharp notes sound like nails on chalkboard
tehLeecherer 2 years ago
with electric guitars more than others, you get what you pay for. $250-$300 guitars will be poorly made, woods will be seconds, or b-grade cuts. they will have lots of filler and poor hardware, and I think are worse for beginners since they can be discouraging to try to play on if you dont know what to expect
nblax41 2 years ago
I dunno. Ibanez has some nice guitars (not the greatest but definitely worth the price).
What really sucks as a beginner is if you have a shitty amp. That can be (imo) way more discouraging.
