Woah. Really makes me wonder the nature of our intelligence. Like, we consider it a feat if a computer impersonates us-- yet, compared to computer 'intelligence', we are below par. So, once a computer can replicate human intelligence and understanding... well, where does that leave being 'conscious'? and suppose a computer bests our human intelligence. Say it transcended, would we be able to learn from it, or would we simply not be able to comprehend. Whats the limit of our own intelligence?
@TheOriginalSilence Read "The singularity is near" its a great book. And as the author Ray Kurzweil Suggests, i believe we will have to augment out mind with computer Intel to match our creations
@TheOriginalSilence A computer is not intelligent in any way...it can simply use predefined information & new information to formulate an impression of intelligence. A computer can be 'conscious' in ways - such as seeing people and then using that information to do something. We could potentially learn anything from a computer, as they are able to access the internet, but it doesn't mean the computer would be good at teaching unless that was programmed in...and that's a long way off.
Either that programing is really good, or the programmer tried to antisiapte ever question someone could ask. Both methods seem daunting to say the least.
I respect the difficulty of getting a computer to even respond coherently to random questions like these, but I still think we are a long way off being able to fool a human who knows how to ask the right questions into believing an unknown responder which is an A.I. program is also human. Assuming that a potential human answerer is also instructed to prove they are human of course.
good movies and tv-shows about year 1910...(those magnificent men in their flying machines....the great race...chitty-chitty-bang-bang...flambards...the wonderful wizard of oz) seems so quaintly victorian and innocent pre-ww-1 era...thats only 10 decades ago!
to gain a historical perspective on this compare tech level of year 1910 to the hightech of year 2010...then project another 10 decades to the higher tech of year 2110!...
@tjamassey But on Windows 7 the answer to life, the universe, and the other stuff is rather "c'mon dude, go find some tight, warm, wet pussy for your own good yeah!"
Nice try, but it has a long way to go. Still, the possibilites are intriguing. Advanced conversation seems a real challenge with these bots.

Okay, Sara Palin, settle down.

Awesome!! - Disappointed that she didn't know the answer to life, the universe, & everything though.
And who didnt teach her goodbye??
Interested to know whether she saves things like goodbye once you tell her though.

It's a save conversation. Hope this is not the future;people just scared of each other to make contact, prefering to talk to a robot.

I just don't get it. Chatting with a stupid Bell's palsy chick throughout a lame vista environment? What's the point of that?
But her answer to life, the universe and everything was suprisingly neat. Even for a human.
