I like Dale's music but I'm kind of tired of hearing everybody complaining about "new country". I'm no fan of most new country but for God's sake. Dale Watson And his band are genuine Country. When you see these guys in a bar atmosphere, they mingle with the crowd during their break. When the band performs, they will down a shot or two with the crowd. They will have a beer or two. It is just like Dale and the band are in your living room playing for you and your friends. Their fans love them and they love their fans. By the way, Underwood, Swift, Hill, McGraw and Rascal Flatts, why that's Country My Ass.

He criticizes the Nashville machine in this song and Nashville Rash, but aside from that I don't see how he's bitter or complaining.

And as far as a has been, judging from his tour schedule, and some of the bigger festivals he's been playing it looks like he's doing pretty damned good to me.

He may not be on the level of the hat acts as far as international fame, but he has a very loyal following and has never compromised his musical integrity.

What I am trying to say is the same thing rockinkeyz is saying. He is spot on with his opinion about new country, but don't beat a dead a dead horse. If your good enough just let the music do the talking for you. I've seen his music on youtube and he whines too damn much. I love his music and "Honky Tonkers Don't Cry" is one of my favorite songs. But it's the same thing with Hank 3, his music is good but his mouth is filthy. Alan Jackson and Brad Paisley are country and they have some class.

Eddy Arnold ,Jim Reeves were part of the Nashville sound,Which in their day made them like Rascal Flatts today. Then all producers wanted horns and strings in all songs and basicly made the music sound like a Las Vagas lounge act.
