Left handers should play what feels right to them. I hate idiots who tell me to play right handed. I usually get rude at that point. Today it is better and people are finding a big market in left handed guitars. I held a left handed guitar yesterday and it was heaven. The only difference in right and left is the way/ direction you hold it. So actually it will be easier fir me to. " mirror" my teacher.
Option three should be the usual choice if you're left handed, there are a number of books available for left handed guitarist. If you are looking for a guitar teacher and they insist that you (or your son or daughter) should learn to play right handed tell them where to stick their guitar and look elsewhere. Left hand chords are not awkward on a guitar strung for a left handed player, the fingering is exactly the same as for a right handed player.
@1ManuelAlejandro99 option 4 is hard to adapt to some "sinisters" so option one seems best way for me anyway there are advantages such as bar chords if lefty looks very awkward but seems to wrk :)
For me it was kind of easy to switch to right handed playing because I learned to play guitar when I was 8 years old; still, it was kind of hard, but rewarding in some aspects.
I have a left handed Ibanez RG 1570 and me fuckin satisfied.....
